The fourth round of the series was crucial as top racers amassed more points toward the championship title. Dodd and Andrew Bargery led the field on Saturday morning. Former Severn Valley champions Roger Duckworth and Mark Broomfield were also on hand with a large number of series points from the Isle of Man.

Dodd finished 8.3 seconds ahead of series leaders Steve Perez and co-driver Claire Mole to take their second Gravel Championship win of the season. “We just wanted to beat Steve,” said Dodd. “It is a two horse race between us and to come in ahead of him at Severn Valley was exciting.”

K&N Engineering is an associate sponsor of the Rallycross Open Championship Races. The majority of vehicles running the circuit are equipped with K&N Air Filters. Dodd is a K&N UK supported racer who drives a Hyundai WRC car.

Dodd has 72 points overall in the 2007 MSA Gravel Rally Championship Standings. The battle continues next month at Swansea Bay National Rally in Wales.

It took seven-and-a-half hours to complete Saturday’s race due to weather. Kvapil started in the front but ended in the back of the field after a near miss on the track and a pit stop. After several rain delays, the No.6 team bounced back to a seventh place finish in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

During Friday’s qualifying session Kvapil qualified fifth with a fast lap time of 16.582 seconds. On Saturday afternoon, he settled into sixth position just before the first caution flew on lap nine. As the field came around for the green flag on lap 14, the rain came down and NASCAR threw the caution followed by a red flag on lap 15 for weather. It was the first of four rain delays on that day.

At the re-start the No.6 K&N Filters F-150 was 20th. Kvapil told the crew his truck had no rear grip and the No.6 was brought to pit row for a wedge adjustment. Kvapil eventually moved his way forward breaking into the top 20 on lap 99. The race was stopped at lap 106 for the final time due to rain and resumed after 7 pm with the No. 6 truck in 14th place.

Kvapil emerged in 7th place as the checkered flag waved over the finish line. “Today was a pretty good day for the K&N Filters Team,” he said. “We started the race pretty loose then a few trucks wrecked right around me so that put us behind early on. We’ve had a good truck for the last for weeks and just haven’t had the finish we deserve.”

Kvapil moves to seventh in the overall Craftsman Series Point Standings with the No. 6 K&N Filters F-150. His next race will be at the Monster Mile in Dover Delaware.
