The new Opel/Vauxhall Corsa is a hatchback made overseas that is popular as a
commuter car because of good fuel economy. The super mini has been produced by
General Motor's European Subsidiary Opel since 1983 and also has a large global
presence.
Air Intake for Vauxhall Corsa MK3 and Opel Corsa D
K&N Engineering has developed a 57i Air Induction Kit (57-0663)
for 2006 to 2014 Vauxhall Corsa MK3 and Opel Corsa D with the 1.4 liter engine. The Corsa is available in three and five door versions and is marketed as a Vauxhall in the UK.
Simply remove the stock air box and install the molded plastic tube with the
oversized K&N Universal Chrome Top Air Filter for added performance.
The adaptor fits onto the K&N Air Filter. It is connected to a stabilizing
housing bracket which is designed to keep the K&N Air Filter in place. The cold
air inlet delivers cold air directly to the K&N Air Filter.

Not a lot of people thank companies for satisfaction and good service. But Dean
Zinter felt moved to because of his satisfaction with his K&N air filter. Zinter
is president of All Equipment Air Conditioning in Aurora, Oregon, servicing air
conditioning systems on various logging machines in Oregon and Washington.

A standard maintenance check on his 1987 Ford F-250 7.3-liter diesel
service truck found the intake side of his K&N lifetime air filter filled with
dust, yet the side that brings air into the engine remained clean. "As you can
see, one side is very dirty, and the other side is totally clean," Zinter wrote
in an e-mail to K&N Engineering. "This is truly amazing. I have had this filter
in this truck since about 1994, and it probably has close to 200,000 miles on it
now."
"I put a lot of miles on this truck out in the woods, with many miles on gravel
logging roads," Zinter wrote. "They are very dusty especially the ones near
Mount St. Helens. The volcanic ash is so fluffy and powdery that, as you can
see, it really fills up a filter in no time." The filter is the K&N
33-2088, the
K&N replacement air filter for the 1993-1994 Ford 7.3-liter factory turbo diesel
also known as the ATS Turbo system, who supplied it to Ford.
Zinter said he used to sell ATS turbo systems and installed the K&N filter in
his 1987 Ford F-250 pickup at that time. The pickup was just a standard Ford
pickup used as a sales demo truck for the turbo systems.

Driving in dusty conditions
"Checking the air filter is a standard maintenance item," Zinter wrote,
"but when it gets that dirty, the amount of boost pressure on the boost gauge is
less than normal. That is how I know it needs cleaning." Zinter said he services
the filter as usual with K&N cleaner and oil.
"I have close to 300,000 miles on my 1987 Ford F-250 diesel service truck now,"
Zinter wrote. "This is the second engine in it; the first one failed at about
180,000 miles because of a broken piston. I average about 200 to 250 miles per
day during the summer months with my air conditioning repair services on logging
equipment, and as the photos show, the truck sees some very dusty areas during
the various trips out into the woods."
"I would have to say to anyone who has not used a K&N filter on any engine they
use, that until they do, they can not rely on "old wives tales" about to let
more air through, you let more dirt through. I have seen my filter like the
photos many times, and each time the clean side (engine side) has no signs of
dirt migration through the filter media even when it is as dirty (on the air
intake side) as the photos show. There is no dirt migration around the rubber
seal area of the filter."
"I have no reason to gain anything on my end for this "unsolicited" testimonial
to you about the excellent service your filter has given to me," Zinter
concludes. "I am already getting the best protection for my engine now. However,
I will pass on to you my own company slogan: There are two things in life you
have to sell: product and service. You can go anywhere and buy products, but
if your service is no good, the first does not really matter. If you like my
service, tell your friends. If you don't, tell me. In this case, I am taking my
own advice and telling you of the good product and service you have provided
me."
Defending King of California Jonathan Allard was consistent over the weekend at
two of the state’s tightest bullrings.

At Watsonville’s Ocean Speedway rain put a lot of water on the ¼ mile
track. Allard started the 30 lap feature with the K&N Filters No.0 in fourth
place. By lap two, he was second. Allard was closing in on Brent Kaeding over
the next 15 laps, but could never complete the pass. Allard claimed the
runner-up position at the end.

The following night, Allard and Williams Motorsports were at Placerville
Speedway for another night of Golden State Challenge Series action. In the
A-main Allard settled into third on the start and made it to second place after
a few laps. For the rest of the race he battled for the lead between Brent
Kaeding and Andy Forsberg. On lap 24 Allard moved into second. He was about to
pass Kaeding but ran out of time and took second place.
“We use K&N Engineering Oil and Air Filters along with K&N’s Carbon Fiber Air
Box,” said Allard. “K&N helps me to get where I need to be on the racetrack.”
Allard has scored five straight finishes of fourth place or better and is
getting back to the powerhouse status he had last season. His next race will be
at Petaluma for another round of Golden State Challenge action.

Jeff Arend lost to Scott Kalitta in round one of the O’Reilly Summer Nationals
at Heartland Park in Topeka, Kansas. Arend charged hard, but the Checker,
Schuck’s, Kragen blue team driver needed a 1,325 foot race track. Drag strips
are only 1,320 feet long.

On Friday, wet weather delayed runs and the qualifying ladder was jumbled.
Fortunately for Team CSK, Arend and the blue team ended with a top-half position
in the No. 8 spot.

“That was huge for us,” said Arend. “Everyone and their brother picked us to be
the next team to miss. The on-line poll they ran at the track had 60 percent of
the voters naming us the most like victims. At least 11,000 people voted that
way. The guys really took it seriously. They felt like they were dismissed and
I’m not kidding when I say they were really mad about it. Of course the goal
then was to win the first round.”
At the tree, Arend got away from the line nearly 2-hundredths quicker than
Kalitta, and the two cars powered past the 330-foot mark. Just before
half-track, Arend’s CSK Impala SS began to spin tires, just a fraction of a
second before Kalitta’s car appeared to suffer mechanical problems in the other
lane. Kalitta had an advantage because his problems occurred slightly later.
“It was a surprise when the tires spun and Scott started to pull away,” said
Arend. “Out of my peripheral vision, I could see him having problems. We were
both doing the best we could, and I was hauling him in like a prize Marlin at
the end, catching up like he was standing still. We just ran out of track.”
Arend also saw his teammate, Del Worsham run his best lap of the weekend, and
saw Worsham’s strong lap come up short. Worsham posted his best lap of the
weekend in round one, driving his red Checker, Schuck’s, Kragen Impala right
down the middle. His time was in the ballpark with most of the first round
winners, but he was still defeated by Mike Ashley. It was the first time Ashley
defeated Worsham after eight previous match-ups.
At the flash of amber, Worhsam tore away first and the race was on. Both cars
stayed straight for the full 1,320. Both cars ran well, and Worsham posted a
strong 4.894 at 316.45 mph. Ashley posted 4.793 in the other lane.
“We did what we wanted to do and we stepped up,” said Worsham. “We just got beat
and there’s not a lot you can do about it when the other guy dominates the field
like that. This is a small bump in the road, so it’s on to Chicago and we’ll go
for it up there.”

Travis Kvapil scored a top five finish at Dover International Speedway in the
No.6 K&N Filters Ford F-150.

Kvapil started the race in 17th position, narrowly avoiding a lap one
accident that collected eight trucks. He moved up several positions advancing to
13th for the restart at lap 11. The racers only went two laps before the caution
was displayed again.

Kvapil restarted in the 11th position and moved up to 9th by the time the
caution flag flew again. Crew chief Mike Beam took advantage of the caution to
bring the K&N Filters Ford to pit road for tires, fuel and a slight track bar
adjustment. Kvapil lined up 10th for the restart at lap 45.
He picked up positions as the race finally settled into a long run. Kvapil made
it to the top five for the first time at lap 96. He also was able to stop with
the rest of the leaders at lap 131 for tires, fuel and a slight air pressure
adjustment. The K&N Filters crew performed flawlessly, getting Kvapil back on
track for the lap 134 restart.
Kvapil was caught in lapped traffic and lost ground to the leader but was able
to cross the finish line in the third position. “I’m really proud of my K&N
Filters crew,” said Kvapil. “We had a good day. We didn’t qualify well, but our
Ford F-150 felt really good. It had good balance. This is where we should be and
this is what we planned on doing all along. Hopefully, we’ll keep it in the
top-10 all year.
Kvapil now stands at sixth place in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series point
standings. The next race will on June 8th at Texas Motor Speedway.
