There are less than 20 races remaining in the 2007 World of Outlaws (WoO) season
and Donny Schatz said he will continue to be strong to the finish.

wins at Heartland Park Topeka
The North Dakota racer is the current points leader as he chases his
second World of Outlaws title. On Friday night, September 14th, he raced his
Global ParkerStore J&J with K&N Engineering Products to his second consecutive
win at Heartland Park Topeka in Topeka, Kansas. The previous Wednesday Schatz
won at the Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa.

“You’ve got to take every one you can get,” said Schatz, after his 16th
WoO win of the season. “We got lucky. The car popped out of gear about midway
through the race. I was lucky enough to get it back in gear and passed Daryn
Pittman for second. Then it was just a matter of seeing if we could get past Tim
Shaffer.”
Schatz started the evening by qualifying eighth in the field. He won the second
heat race and drew the number four starting position in the Crane Cams Dash. In
the eight-lap dash, Schatz finished second to Tim Shaffer earning an outside
front row starting position for the 35-lap race.
“I haven’t had a car jump out of gear for several years,” said Schatz. “The
cables kind of pull out and lock. I could feel it earlier in the night, but you
never expect it will bite you. We were bouncing through a few holes and that
started to jar it. It popped out, but I got it back in sync.”
On the restart, Schatz chased Shaffer back into traffic. When Shaffer made a
high move trying to lap a car, Schatz seized the moment on lap 27 and led the
rest of the way for his 67th career WoO A-Feature.
“It’s hard to pass people in open track,” said Schatz. “I don’t think anyone has
that good of a race car, especially with a full load of fuel. We need to hit
lapped traffic and force him to make a mistake. All of the yellow were kind of
hurting him and kind of hurting us. He made a mistake in lapped traffic and I
was there to capitalize on it. I’ve said it before, that when you are running
second, you have nothing to lose and everything to gain.”
The consecutive wins follow the annual God Rush Tour. It marks the fifth time in
the last six years that Schatz has multiple wins following the west coast swing.
“We are fortunate to work with such great product sponsors like K&N Filters,”
said Schatz. “Without K&N we wouldn’t be here.” Last season, Schatz won five
races following the Gold Cup through the season finale. Schatz is aiming for at
least that many wins this year.
“We’re still shooting for 20 and maybe more,” said Schatz, who won a career high
of 19 last year. “We have a few races left and we just have to make sure to
capitalize on as many as we can. Every year we try and do better. We want to win
another championship.”
Schatz and the ParkerStore Team hope to make it three straight on Sunday night
at Charter Raceway Park.

Travis Kvapil Third in NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Points

Travis Kvapil and K&N Filters Crew Ready for New Hampshire
“New Hampshire is very similar to Milwaukee, a flat one-mile racetrack,” said Kvapil. “We feel like we’ll be able to take some of what worked for us there and
apply it to this race. I won here a few years ago in the truck series, so it’s a
place I’ve got of lot of confidence heading back to. It’s another one of the
tracks where the fans really take us in, so that is another thing we are really
looking forward to.”
“Any time we head to a racetrack where we’ve won or Travis has won, it gives us
a little extra confidence,” said Crew Chief Mike Beam. “Travis won here back in
2004, and we ran well in this race last year despite some problems on the track
and on pit road. We ran well at Milwaukee earlier in the year, but not as well
as we would have liked. We fell like we can build off what we accomplished there
and get a good result this weekend at New Hampshire.”
The No.6 K&N Filters team will be bringing chassis RK330-45 to New Hampshire.
This chassis last raced at
Bristol, where Kvapil started first and finished
11th. This will be race 18 of 25 in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

Defending World of Outlaws champion and current points leader Donny Schatz put
on a dominant performance at Clay County Fairgrounds in Spencer, Iowa. “Winning
races is what we try to do every night,” said Schatz. “It feels good to be back
in victory lane again.”

Returns to Victory Lane
The Fargo, North Dakota resident took the checkered flag 3.93 seconds
ahead of runner-up Joey Saldana. “For most of the year we were on the podium
nearly every night,” said Schatz, who has 41 top 5 finishes in 64 World of
Outlaw starts in 2007. “This is the kind of night we’re shooting for from here
on out. We qualified decent, got in the dash and kept getting the car better.”
Defending World of Outlaws Champion Schatz uses K&N
Schatz qualified fifth in his Global ParkerStore sponsored No. 15 with K&N
products on the newly configured 3/8 mile dirt oval. In the first heat race
Schatz made a strong surge in the field of 32 cars. He started third, but had to
pass fast qualifier Jason Solwold to earn his spot in the Crane Cams Dash. The
Pakerstore Team drew the seventh starting position in the six-lap race, which
set the first ten spots in the 30-lap feature.
Schatz avoided disaster early in the dash and earned the outside third row
starting position. In the feature he worked his way forward and jumped into
fourth on the opening lap.
He quickly began chasing leaders Tim Shaffer and Saldana. As the two leaders
entered thick traffic, Schatz waited for the perfect moment to take advantage of
the situation. On lap 11 the leaders went three wide and Schatz took the lead.
He led lap 12 and paced the field during the final 18 laps to collect his 66th
career A-Feature World of Outlaws win.
Schatz and the ParkerStore Team use K&N Engineering products. “Our race team
does extensive research and works closely with our product suppliers,” said
Schatz. “We’ve seen the results of the K&N performance both on the track and in
our research and development. We’ve had the complete car on a chassis
dynamometer and seen results from the engine dynamometer. The K&N Filters Carbon
Sprint Airbox is simply the best product out there for us. It fits perfectly and
provides the most airflow to the engine.”
Schatz and the ParkerStore Team will continue their swing in the Midwest with a
race at Heartland Raceway Park in Topeka, Kansas on Friday night.

Power Gain Chart for Toyota Camry with K&N Air Intake
K&N dynamometer testing showed this small 2.4L engine gains an estimated 14.2 horsepower @ 5639 RPMs. K&N High-Flow Air Intake Systems provide a measured increase in horsepower while providing excellent air filtration. Our thoroughly
engineered air intake systems provide huge increases in power that our customers can feel
when they accelerate.
K&N Engineers protect the K&N High-Flow Air Filter (RU-4990)
from engine heat by isolating it with a heat shield. The large K&N Air Filter
provides increased surface area and dust capacity. Our air intake
system has lower restriction than the factory air box system which results in
additional power from the engine.
The
69-8610TTK is designed so the mass air sensor will work with the factory
stock settings. This means there is no need for re-programming to run our air
intake system.
Our High Flow Air Intake Systems are backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited
Warranty and can be easily
installed in 90
minutes or less with simple hand tools.
