Round 12 of the Can Am Series was eleven miles of rocks, ruts, trees and dust for forty riders. The conditions were very dry and the amount of dust in the air was the most anyone had faced in recent memory. “Visibility was a huge factor during the race,” said Levi Michel, Warnert Team Manager. “Piloting machines as big and fast as Warnert Racing Can-Am’s it’s important to see the track to win and survive. In the pits we couldn’t see our K&N Engineering air filters because of the dust but they pulled us through the extreme conditions and keep our engines running.”

Team Warnert rider Michael Swift could have taken it easy in the 4X4 Limited competition. He secured the class championship at round 11, but decided to race anyway. Swift took the lead early on and never looked back for his 10th class win of the 2007 season.

In the 4X4 Lites, Clifton Beasley also wrapped up his class championship before this round of racing. “He laid down the smack for the 9th time this season by taking another class win again,” said Levi. “The dust was billowing behind his screaming Can Am and the competition didn’t even come close.” Beasley finished with over 5 minutes left for yet another Warnert Racing sweep.

The series heads to the final round at Crawfordsville, Indiana on October 27.

With this victory Cummings has moved into the seventh position in NHRA national points and has a good chance to finish in the top ten standings. There are only three events remaining on the 2007 NHRA schedule.

The victory also pushed Cummings to the second spot in the Division 4 Super Comp standings, only one point behind Lloyd Parfait.

“It’s hard to say we’ve had a great season,” said Cummings. “We’ve got such high standards for ourselves and our race team. My brother Slate and I have won World Championships before, and finishing in the top ten does not feel like a great feat. The good new is we have had a solid season from top to bottom and we’ve finally made our mark in NHRA competition.”

In addition to Britt Cumming’s Super Comp success, Slate Cummings has also put together an impressive season in NHRA Super Stock and Super Comp. Slate plans to race in the NHRA LODRS event in Reynolds, Georgia. He has a shot at the Division 4 Super Comp championship and to finish in the national top ten in both Super Comp and Super Stock.

Cummings Motorsports is a family business from Hammond, Louisiana. “We have ten race cars,” said Cummings. “We use K&N Engineering Air and Oil Filters on all our vehicles. With K&N we’re faster and very consistent and the filters never give us a problem.”

The Cummings team will finish out the season in Pomona, California at the NHRA World Finals in November.

World of Outlaws Racer Competes with the Best then Battles Santa Ana Winds

The “Greatest Show on Dirt” was held at Perris Auto Speedway. This was the first time the World of Outlaws competed at the Southern California track since 2004. Jonathan Allard and the Williams Motorsports Team competed against 32 entrants and made the most of it by charging from 24th to 15th during the main event.

Allard is known as one of the top qualifiers in the World of Outlaws on the west coast in the K&N Filters, Red Line Oil No. 0 sprint car. He was able to charge forward at the most modern dirt sprint car facility and brought the K&N Filters No. 0 home in 15th place.

“Anytime you can pass cars against the Outlaws it’s a good thing,” said Allard. “There are only a few races left this season and I'm going to try and win as many as I can.”

Allard and the Williams Motorsports Team left California and battled the raging Santa Ana winds in their race trailer on their way to Kings Speedway for the Cotton Classic. We were able to get out of the area before the devastating firestorms hit the southland.

Allard won the Cotton Classic in 2005. He’ll look for a repeat of that this Saturday as he chases his 11th win of the season at the Kings County Fairgrounds in Hanford, California.

K&N Engineering makes universal air filters for a wide variety of applications. A new universal round tapered (cone) air filter, part# RU-5168, has just been released that will expand this wide range of applications even further. This filter expands the selection choices for those needing a 3.375 inch flange filter. The RU-5168, like all K&N Universal Air Filters, is washable and reusable. It is constructed with ultra-strong molded pliable rubber edges which absorb vibration and allow for a secure, strong attachment. The flange can also be stretched up to 1/16 inches (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes.

The new RU-5168 cone shaped filter has a 5.813 inch (148 mm) base outside diameter, and a 3.375 inch (86 mm) flange inside diameter.
