K&N Releases New Cone Shaped Universal Air Filter with 2.5 Inch Flange Diameter

K&N Universal Air Filter RU-5174

K&N Engineering designs and manufactures a wide variety of universal air filters for many different uses. Regardless of the shape or size, K&N probably has a universal air filter for your specific equipment needs.

K&N has released a new round tapered universal (cone) air filter, part number RU-5174. It was constructed with an ultra-strong pliable rubber flange which absorbs vibration and allows for secure attachment. K&N universal air filter flanges can stretch for up to 1/16 inch (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes.

The RU-5174 is 5 in. (127 mm) in length with an outside base diameter of 6 inches (152 mm) and a rubber top that has an outside diameter of 5 in. (127 mm). The inside diameter of the flange is rather small at only 2.5 in. (64 mm). The flange length is 2 inches (51 mm) which allows plenty of room to clamp around many engine intakes. This universal air filter may be used for any application meeting these measurement requirements.

Because of its small flange diameter, the RU-5174 is ideal for smaller engines such as import cars with smaller intake tubes.

Black Stallion Dominates Monster Trucks at Prairie Capitol Center

Monster Jam’s sell out crowds at stadiums in Detroit, Houston, San Diego, Toronto, Minnesota, Florida and Washington State seem to fuel the connection between drivers and the fans.

Despite the snow that stacked up outside the Prairie Capitol Center in Springfield, Illinois Monster Jam once again packed the house to full capacity. The crowd went crazy as Black Stallion, Iron Warrior, Full Boar, Bad Habit and Scarlet Bandit gave them all the action they wanted.

The Monster wheelie competition was one of the biggest battles all weekend. Mike Vaters started the action with the Black Stallion. Iron Warrior driven by Trey Myers stood on its end and almost dragged the tailgates across the crushed cars, but Black Stallion took the ultimate win. Vaters (aka The Godfather of Thunder Nationals) also swept the wheelie competitions each day.

Vaters' competitive edge came out full boar in the main as he went head-to-head with Dawn Creten driving Scarlet Bandit. All the monsters were fighting for a spot in the finals and the racing was neck and neck. In the end Scarlet Bandit put up a fight for the win but Black Stallion edged her out by a fraction every round to sweep all three mains.

In the Monster Jam Donut Competition Scarlet Bandit and Black Stallion tied until Vaters cranked it up and flew. Black Stallion took the win in the next two donut rounds. The fight continued between the two monsters in the Monster Freestyle Competition. “It got hot quick as Scarlet Bandit came out and cranked it up so much that she ended up laying the monster on its side,” said Vaters. “I was not going to be outdone and my Black Stallion completed destroyed the course with every variation possible in freestyle.”

Black Stallion jumped the van stack forward, backwards and sideways for the win in the final freestyle round. Black Stallion is equipped with K&N Engineering injector and oil filters. “I use K&N because it protects my expensive engines,” said Vaters. “K&N is tough enough to handle the Monster Truck scene.”

Vaters and his team head next to Winnipeg, Canada to rock the Monster Jam world again.

K&N has released a new round tapered (cone) air filter RP-5167. It has a light weight carbon fiber top that offers a smooth high end look. The RP-5167 is a particularly large air filter which results in more potential air flow and longer periods between cleaning. This makes it perfect for racing applications. K&N's air filters are designed to allow high air flow while providing excellent filtration.

The RP-5167 has a base outside diameter of 5.875" (149mm), top outside diameter of 4.5" (114mm) and a flange with an inside diameter of 4.25 inches (108mm) that can be stretched up to 1/16" (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes.

The RP-5167 is a washable and reusable air filter that uses a high flow cotton media providing excellent performance and protection. With over 1000 shapes and sizes available, K&N will probably have the universal air filter for your equipment needs.
