K&N Air Intake System Adds 14.61 Horsepower to Turbo Charged Volvo S40 and Volvo C30

In recent years the Volvo S40 gained inches where it mattered most, in the wheelbase which is 3.1 inches longer and in track width 2.2 inches wider in front and 2.5 inches in back. The Swedish manufacturer states pushing the wheels outward in each direction makes the S40 more stable while opening the interior for more passenger space. Volvo is also marketing the C30 as the wild child of the Volvo family. It is designed to be the car of the Gen-Y consumer.

K&N has released a high flow cold air intake system (69-9000TS) in powder coated silver for the 2004 to 2012 Volvo S40 2.5 liter engine and the 2007 to 2012 Volvo C30 with a 2.5 liter engine. The C30 is typically found in the European Union. See complete vehicle applications list below. The powder coated silver gives our system an OE look.

This K&Ns air intake system also provides additional performance for the turbo charged engine. K&N dynamometer tests show a 14.61 horsepower gain at 3900 RPM.

By using a CNC mass air sensor pad K&N is able to keep the Volvo running within its factory settings. There is no need to reprogram the factory settings after installation. The ECM (Electronic Control Module) is attached to the stock air box. Simply remove it and mount it onto the heat shield. The 69-9000TS has lower restriction than the factory air box resulting in an immediate power gain. It is also designed to improve engine performance and is easy to install, usually in 90 minutes or less.

The round tapered universal air filter (RU-4730) is designed to provide increased area and dust capacity. Its placement takes advantage of the factory fresh air duct to feed the K&N air filter outside air. K&N high flow air intake systems come with the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.

Suzuki GSXR 1000 Rider Ben Thompson Plays it Smart at Daytona

Rider Ben Thompson of Team Millennium/KWS Suzuki finished eleventh in the AMA Superstock race at Daytona International Speedway. Thompson also finished seventeenth in the AMA Superbike race. The team showed speed throughout both races but had a few problems that affected the end results.

This was Thompson’s first visit to Daytona on a Superstock bike. “He raised a lot of eyebrows by qualifying on the second row,” said Team Manager Chip Spalding. “That was good enough for seventh position.”

Thompson got an excellent start and moved up to sixth place with the lead group. He overshot the chicane and then tried to battle his way back to the front. “Unfortunately the bike developed a shifting problem,” said Spalding. “It caused a lot of instability on the ultra-fast Daytona banking.” Thompson road a smart race and brought the Millennium/KWS Suzuki home to eleventh place and focused on getting championship points. “I made a mistake on the second lap when I missed the chicane,” said rider Ben Thompson. “This caused me to lose seven positions.”

The Daytona Superbike race is traditionally a war of attrition and the team did not put a lot of emphasis on qualifying. Instead the team used the session to develop a race set up. Thompson was still able to qualify in nineteenth position. At the start of the Superbike race Thompson moved up to twelfth and was battling at the tail end of the factory riders. He had a small problem going into the new horseshoe and dropped back to the twentieth spot. Thompson was able to fight his way back to finish at seventeenth.

“The team did really well and the results don’t show it,” said Team Owner Kevin Hunt. “Ben was fast enough all weekend to finish in the top five in Superstock and the top fifteen in Superbike.”

Team Millennium/KWS Suzuki uses Suzuki GSXR1000 bikes in both classes with K&N Engineering air and oil filters. “We’re really happy with K&N products,” said Crew Chief Michael Godin. “K&N is a product that protects our engine and gives us excellent filtration. We’ve been approached by other filter companies but we won’t switch from K&N. We run a high-performance motorsports shop in South Carolina and we sell K&N products. We build big horsepower motors and want only the best for our engines.”

The next race for Team Millennium/KWS Suzuki will be at Barber Motorsports Park in Birmingham, Alabama in April.

K&N's 33-2397 lifetime replacement air filter for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Infiniti M35
K&N Engineering manufactures a new lifetime replacement air filter (33-2397) for the 2006, 2007 and 2008 Infinity M35 3.5 liter V6 engine and the 2007 Infinity M35 3.5 liter V6 engine. Hand made in the United States, the 33-2397 is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration while providing excellent filtration.

K&N air filters are made of 4 to 6 layers of cotton gauze sandwiched between two epoxy-coated aluminum wire screens. The cotton is treated with a specially formulated grade of oil causing tackiness throughout the cotton's microscopic strands. The nature of the cotton allows high volumes of air flow. When this is combined with the tackiness of the oil it creates a powerful filtering media that ensures engine protection.

K&N air filters are engineered to fit directly into the factory air box, no cutting or fitting is required. A support plate is included with the 33-2397 to ensure a positive seal in the airbox. It is important to ensure the K&N filter and support plate are seated together for proper installation.

All K&N air filters are washable and reusable and filters for street vehicles are backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty. It will be the last air filter your vehicle will ever need.
