K&N has released a new round tapered universal (cone) air filter (RC-5177). Its ultra-strong pliable rubber flange absorbs vibration and allows for secure attachment.  K&N universal air filters can stretch up to 1/16 inch (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes.

The RC-5177 is 7.5 in. (191 mm) in length with an outside base diameter of 9 in. (229 mm) and a black powder coated metal top that has an outside diameter of 6.625 in. (168 mm). The inside diameter of the flange is 6 in. (152 mm) and the flange length is 1.125 inches (29 mm) allowing for plenty of room to clamp on to a 6 inch intake. This universal air filter may be used for any application with these measurement needs.

K&N Universal Air Filters are designed to provide excellent filtration without sacrificing airflow. The RC-5177 is washable and reusable, like all of K&N Universal Filters and is covered by K&N’s one year limited warranty.

K&N dynamometer tests show an 11.63 horsepower gain at 5200 rpm for the 2005 Nissan Frontier with 4.0 liter engine. The air intake tube offers a smooth air path between the air filter and the motor for more power. It also increases under the hood appeal with its polished aluminum finish.

K&N cold air intakes allow your vehicle's engine to use a larger amount of air than the OEM air filter assembly. More air means more power when you need it. The 77-6014KP uses a chrome top high-flow air filter (RF-1014) and a powder coated steel heat shield in place of the vehicles stock air box. The heat shield protects the K&N air filter from engine heat which also allows for a power gain. The K&N air filter is washable, reusable and provides excellent filtration for a lifetime of engine protetction.

It takes about 90 minutes or less to install and is covered my K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty.

World Speedway Grand Prix Championship Chase at Malilla in Sweden

Double World Speedway Grand Prix Champion Jason Crump took fourth place at Malilla in Sweden and missed out on a podium position at the Scandinavian Grand Prix.

The Australian racer scored consistently during the heat races. Crump racked up points and qualified for the semi-finals, but his placement in the semi cost him a vital choice of gates for the final. He was forced to take the only gate left, which was not the perfect choice.

There are four riders in each race during eliminations. Gates one and two are on the inside, gates three and four are on the outside. The racers who win the semi and have the most points have first choice of gates. Crump had to take one of the outside gates. If he had won his semi he would have had first choice of gates which could have made the difference in winning the event.

“Getting first or second choice of gates for the final gives you a much better chance of winning then getting the gate the others didn’t want,” said Crump. “I’m not making excuses. I need to win more races if I’m going to be World Champion again. I have a tough challenge ahead of me and challenges are what I thrive on.”

Crump’s fellow countrymen Leigh Adams and Dane Hans Anderson charged into the lead in the final. Adams took the win, Anderson took second and Nicki Pedersen of Denmark took third.

“I’m disappointed with my fourth place performance,” said Crump. “The gap for the championship points lead grew to 17 and there are only four Grand Prix’s left in the season. Leigh rode well and deserved the win.” Crump is currently second overall in the 2008 World Championship standings.

Crump is a 16-time Grand Prix winner. He has used K&N Engineering products during his entire racing career. “K&N makes the best filter on the market,” he said. “Under extreme track conditions K&N keeps the dirt out of my motorcycle engines. I can also depend on extra filtration and additional horsepower every time I race.”

The next round of the World Speedway Grand Prix Championship Series will take place at Daugavpils in Latvia.

K&N Performance Air Intake System Gives 2006-2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser Turbo 12 HP Boost

When introduced in 2000 the Chrysler PT Cruiser was a whirlwind success. Timeless styling combined with modern convenience has created a fanatic following that transcends generations as well as gender. For the 2006 to 2008 model year the PT Cruiser received a number of updates both aesthetically and under the hood. This included a new performance based turbocharged engine tuned to deliver 230 horsepower. The PT Cruisers' fan base, hungry for more performance, will certainly be satisfied with K&N Engineering's Performance Air Intake System (57-1551) for the 2006 to 2008 PT Cruiser 2.4L Turbo.

"The electronic components under the hood were repositioned with the new design of the PT Cruiser," said K&N Performance Kit Manager Bert Heck. "K&N developed a new heat shield for this particular engine and redesigned the tube accordingly."

K&N tests, on our in house dynamometer, have shown a horsepower gain of 12.13 @ 5086 RPM with the K&N 57-1551 Air Intake. K&N Engineers were able to provide such impressive horsepower gains because the original factory airbox and original filter were restrictive, said Heck. K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow while providing outstanding filtration. This means engine protection with more power and torque when you need it.

This air intake system uses a conical shaped carbon fiber top high-flow air filter (RP- 4660). The carbon fiber top filter is used to add to the appeal of the PT Cruiser. This air filter captures harmful particles, provides more surface area, flows more air, and increases service life. It also performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the motor is the rotationally-molded high-density polyethylene tube. It offers the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers. "It's a very straight forward installation" according to Heck and it takes about 90 minutes or less to install this system with simple tools. It is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty and is street legal in all 50 US states.

2007, 2008 and 2009 Honda Civic Type R Owners Add Performance with K&N Air Intake System

The 2007 Honda Civic Type R has had tremendous success since it first became available. The Type R Civic improved aerodynamics helps the car cut through the air easily.

K&N Performance Intake Kit for the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Honda Civic Type R with a 2.0 liter engine
K&N Engineering has unveiled a low cost performance air induction system (57A-6040) to improve the power of the 2007, 2008 and 2009 Honda Civic Type R with the 2.0 liter engine. With the addition of K&N's Apollo air protective filter enclosure and a washable reusable K&N air filter, air entering the engine will flow freely. The custom design eliminates problems caused by hot air and feeds cooler outside air into the engine.

The Apollo also provides the benefits of an open cone filter and a standard air box in one unit. The cold air feed attachment is removable and allows outside air to be fed into the unit. Zip ties are provided to secure the cold air hose.

The original air box on the 2007 Honda Civic Type R restricts air flow into the engine. The 57A-6040 will free your vehicle from much of this restriction. It will also provide power with excellent filtration. It can be easily installed in 90 minutes or less and is backed by the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
