Australian Grand Prix Motorcycle Racer Faced Nightmare in Poland

One of the number one sports in Poland is the World Speedway Grand Prix. The crowds pack in the stadium like the football fans pack the stands in the United States. “The Polish people are passionate and very vocal about their speedway,” said Roy Stone, racer Jason Crump’s Media Manager. “Bydgoszcz Stadium has an atmosphere like no other speedway.”

The packed to capacity crowd witnessed a night of spectacular speedway action. Local hero Tomasz Gollob swept through the heats and the semi-final unbeaten. In the final he took third place as American Greg Hancock took the honors and defeated everyone for first place.

For Australia’s Jason Crump, the meet turned into a nightmare. He collected nine series points and finished eighth overall. “I came to Poland well prepared and on a mission but it was a disaster for me,” said Crump, who is currently second place overall in the World Championship Chase. “With my competition all performing their best, it blew my chances of winning the World Championship. My hold on second place is also threatened by Greg Hancock and Tomasz Gollob who have climbed the ranks with more series points.”

Two weeks ago Crump was celebrating his win in Latvia. “Now I’m at my lowest point,” he said. “But that’s Speedway Racing, anything can happen. It can be very rewarding one day and abysmal the next. I have put the Polish race behind me and have started preparing for my next challenge in Italy in two weeks.”

Crump, a double World Speedway Grand Prix champion currently has 127 points. Hancock has 120 and Tomasz Gollob has 118 points. Leader Nikki Pedersen of Denmark has 155 points.

An eco-friendly green motorcycle designed to reduce its carbon footprint made its debut at the Indianapolis Moto GP in the K&N Filters booth. Derby City Customs makes one-of-a-kind motorcycles. This time, owners Jason and Jeremy Cantwell had a goal to fuel their passion for motorcycles, contribute to the environment and save gas at the same time.

The brothers started with a 2008 Kawasaki ZX-10 and developed a hydrogen-gasoline hybrid. “We get double the manufacturers estimated gas mileage at 170 hp,” said Cantwell. “We had to stretch the swing arm and added a M4 Moto GP exhaust to make room for the canister or hydrogen generator. Simply put, we separated the hydrogen and oxygen molecules from distilled water which propels the hybrid. As a result the gas burns more efficiently and gets better gas mileage as it reduces emissions.” The new Derby City Customs motorcycle main emissions are water, not carbon deposits.

The 2008 Kawasaki ZX-10 also has hand-made carbon fiber pieces to reduce its weight. “We also added super light custom Carrozzeria wheels and a blue custom vinyl graphics from Digital EFX in Kentucky,” said Cantwell. “This way there was no paint to damage the environment. It’s a digitally printed vehicle wrap that should hold up for 7 years through the elements.”

The motorcycle is scheduled to be on display at SEMA 2008 in Las Vegas, Nevada.

Restriction in airflow can exist between an air filter and the engine reducing the benefit of our high flow air filter. The weakest link in the "airflow chain" robs a vehicle of its natural horsepower. Often that weak point is the factory air path leading to the engine. K&N cold air intake systems virtually eliminate air path restriction by replacing the entire air path to the engine with an aerodynamically engineered intake tube that drives a massive amount of air into an engine.

2007 Chevy Silverado 1500 pickups with a 6.0 liter engine gain 17.54 horsepower @ 4917 rpm with the 57-3058 cool air intake. The 57-3058 is designed with a non-metallic rotationally molded intake tube that can reduce intake air temperature and decrease intake sound over a metal tube.

K&N's 77-3058KP will fit 2007 and 2008 Chevy Silverado 1500 models with the 6.0 liter engine. This polished aluminum intake system uses an aluminum intake tube to smooth and straighten air flow to your engine. The 77-3058KP gains 12.49 horsepower @ 4917 rpm.
