The three-time American Le Mans Series GT1 champion piloted the No. 4 Compuware Corvette C6.R to a 1:57.882 (112.994 mph) lap around the 3.7 mile 17 turn road course. He edged teammate Jan Magnussen’s best time in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6.R by .321 seconds.
Corvette Racing's 10th Anniversary with GT1 starts off with Pole at Sebring Season-Opener
“It’s great to come away with a pole as we begin the 10th anniversary for Corvette Racing,” said Gavin. “Sebring is a tough event, very hard on the cars and the drivers, but its great preparation for Le Mans.”
Gavin said track conditions were difficult. “The track seems a little light on grip, and if someone runs off the racing line and gets some sand on the track, it can be a real effort to get the tires cleaned off for the next few corners,” he said. “Fortunately my second lap was quick enough to get to the pole.”
Corvette Racing runs special K&N air filters. “Dirt is a huge problem in these races,” said Crew Chief Dan Binks. “K&N protects our engines from the track debris.”
The Moble 1 Twelve Hours of Sebring is scheduled to start at 10:30 am on Saturday, March 21. It will be televised on SPEED-TV.
Bad weather overshadowed the 2nd Annual Turkey Night Classic at the Springfield Raceway in Springfield, Missouri. Saturday’s race was rescheduled for Sunday afternoon. It was the second time the race was postponed this season because of weather.

“It was frustrating for the teams, but especially for the large crowd that was there,” said K&N sponsored racer Brian Brown. “It was not a steady rain by any means, just a constant drizzle that would not go away.”

On Sunday, the Brian Brown Racing SuperClean No. 21 made it to victory lane, making Brown 1 for 1 in the 2009 season. On race day, the Grain Valley, Missouri driver lined up beside Sean McClelland in row one for the 25-lap main event.
“Sean and I started in the front row side-by-side and we raced each other for several laps,” said Brown. “I was able to get into the lead when we had a caution about lap five. After a few more yellows, things moved faster. We ran the last nine laps non-stop.”
Brown’s Maxim chassis is powered by fresh Ostrich power. “The motor was definitely sound,” he said. “With my K&N air and oil filters, dirt stays out of the engine. I get additional power with K&N. I’ve used K&N for eight years and it’s the best product on the market. This is a great way to start the season.”
Brown’s next race will be at the Devil’s Bowl Speedway in Mesquite, Texas for the Lucas Oil ASCS Series opener. It will be televised on Versus on May 2nd and May 9th.
The Fastrak Racing Series National Touring season opened for K&N sponsored racer Chris Steele at the Modoc 100 in Modoc, South Carolina.

There were 67 cars in line for only 26 starting spots. The prize was a $10,000 to win main event. In addition to the A-Main prize, there were also other contingency awards.
Steele’s first hurdle was to make the field by getting a starting spot. He qualified 4th in his group, started 4th in his heat race and finished 3rd in the heat race to get that
starting spot.
Steele equips his 2004 GM GRT 260 horsepower engine with K&N products. “I prove over and over again that a bigger engine does not always mean a faster engine,” he said. “I tell other racers about K&N because I run in front of them week after week. My engine cranks out an additional 71/4 horsepower in dyno tests.” In the Fastrak Series drivers can use 360 or 400 horsepower engines.
In the main event, Steele missed a pile up in turn four before one lap was complete. On the restart, the Rock Hill, South Carolina
resident took an easy pace for the 100 lap race. Around lap 14, Steele tried to get around outside pole sitter Brandon Haley. Unfortunately, Haley ended up sideways in front of Steel.
“I hit him in the left front wheel and straightened him out on the track,” said Steele. “I wasn’t that lucky. I was spun around and was hit head-on. That ended the race for me.”
The Chris Steele Racing Team returns to Lavonia Speedway in Georgia for the next Fastrack Series race.

The Make It Right Foundation was started by Pitt to help build environmentally friendly homes in the 9th ward of New Orleans for displaced hurricane victims.
Team riders Matt Boni and Troy Adams both qualified for the main event and Boni placed a career high tenth place. Adams went on to finish 17th for the night. Boni, of Geneva, Florida is currently in 14th place in the point standings and Adams is in 22nd place.
“When a friend of mine suggested we team up with Brad Pitt it was a no-brainer,” said Carey Hart. “I think the look of the bikes was great. Anything we can do for this worthy cause is cool.”
Carey Hart’s team could not have been in New Orleans, Louisiana without the support of all its sponsors including K&N. Hart & Huntington Tattoo Supercross riders use K&N oil filters KN-116.
