“I looked at the win light three times going down the track to make sure it was really on,” said Beard. “I couldn’t believe it. I was screaming the whole way down the track and all the way up the return road. We race against the same people in the class just about everywhere we go, but there is something more special about winning a national event.”

Beard’s Volare is powered by a Mopar 360 Magnum crate motor and tips the scales at 3600 pounds. “We use K&N oil filters, K&N air filters and K&N valve breather covers,” he said. “I’m happy to be able to win for a great sponsor like K&N.”

Beard’s Spring Nationals victory gives him a slot in the IHRA Tournament of Champions. The IHRA’s new Tournament of Champions program automatically seeds every National event winner, along with the top three drivers in each division into a single race. It is a sudden-death battle for the World Championship that will be contested at the IHRA World Finals. Beard is in the mix and will hold a small home-track advantage.

Russian Teen Shatters Australian's Record in World Speedway Grand Prix

In the last decade the World Speedway Grand Prix has been dominated by Jason Crump, Tony Rickardsson and Nicki Pedersen. At the start of the 2009 season a 19-year-old Russian teenager shook up the Grand Prix world and became the youngest winner ever in the opening round at the Marketa Stadium in Prague.

Emil Sajfutdinov broke the record held by Jason Crump for the past 13 years. Crump won the British Grand Prix in 1996 at the age of 21. “I am so pleased for young Emil Sajfutdinov,” said Crump. “I remember when I won my first Grand Prix and there is no way to describe the feeling. I never believed this year’s Grand Prix was just between Nicki and me. There are some terrific youngsters coming through.”

The established order of the past decade of Grand Prix action was also upset by Swedish rider Freddie Lindgren. Lindgren finished 10th in the 2008 season but finished in second place in Prague. He also had the leading points of the night.

Crump, a two time World Speedway Champion made the podium and finished third overall. Crump struggled at times in the heats trying to get grip on the super slick track. His win in the semi-final gave him another chance in the final to take top honors.

“My start in the final saw me last into the first turn so I knew I had my work cut out,” said the Australian Rider. “Making the final and getting a podium position was a good result. If I can make the final at every round this year I will be happy. There are nine more GP’s and I have a lot of hard work ahead of me if I am to win a third World Championship.”

Crump uses K&N products. “I love K&N filters, they are the best in the world,” he said. “I have solely used K&N products and never had a problem. K&N is the best for dirt track racing. I am racing for the World Championship and I only put the best on my bikes. K&N delivers just that.”

Round two of the Speedway Grand Prix World Championship takes place at Leszno in Poland on May 5.

Bogacki is on a hot streak in the 2009 season. He has an IHRA national event win from Baton Rouge, Louisiana, a $10,000 bracket race victory out of Bowling Green, Kentucky along with a pair of $5,000 bracket triumphs from Mobile, Alabama and Bristol, Tennessee.

“It’s been a great start to the season and I want to thank my sponsors like K&N,” he said. “I depend on K&N products on all of my competition vehicles. K&N gives me the security and protection I need, without sacrificing the performance and consistency that is necessary to win.”

“I was lucky in Atlanta at the Summit Southern Nationals,” said Bogacki. “Eliminations opened with a pair of red lights in the other lane. I was vulnerable in both rounds. If either of those opponents were green, that could have been the end of the weekend.”

In the third round, Bogacki battled it out with Ray Balian. The pair left the starting line as one. Balian’s .009 had the advantage over Bogacki’s .010. At the finish line, Bogacki posted a near perfect 8.903 to defeat Balian’s 8.918.

“That was a big round,” said Bogacki. “That’s just good fortune.” From there, Bogacki continued to win. “It was really cool to run Michael in the final,” he said. “We’re friends. In fact, he’d just had his engine freshened at an engine shop and was out on the road. I brought his car to Atlanta for him. Both cars in the Super Comp final rolled through the gate in the same trailer. It’s a shame we couldn’t share the win.”

Bogacki is ready for this weekend's IHRA Spring Nationals in Rockingham, North Carolina. There he will put his unblemished 8.90 record on the line and make his season debut in Stock Eliminator. In addition, he will participate in the IHRA's Summit All Star Shootouts, a special race within a race for the top eight finishers in each class from 2008. Bogacki will compete in three competition categories in the All Star event, Stock, Quick Rod and Top Dragster.

"I'm excited to have three entries in the All Star Shootouts," said Bogacki. "There are only seven sportsman classes, with eight cars each, and I make up for three of them. There won't be any down time for me on Saturday night. I've never been a part of the Summit ALl Stars shootout, and it's an honor to be included in the event."

The 69-8703TS has a mount for the factory mass air sensor. Simply remove it from the stock air box and install it into the K&N free flowing mandrel bent aluminum intake tube, securing it with the provided hardware.

The 69-8703TS is designed to reduce restriction and provide the benefits of a washable and reusable lifetime replacement K&N air filter (RT-4590).  This K&N cone shaped air filter has a titanium top for added strength and light weight.

The manufacturer’s air box restricts air flow to the engine. K&N performance air intake systems provide an increase in power while providing excellent filtration. The K&N air filter is protected by a heat shield assembly which fits into the engine compartment and allows the K&N air filter to receive a consistent flow of fresh air.

Our K&N air intake systems are designed to be installed in 90 minutes or less and are backed by the famous K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty.
