The team had multiple wins at the IHRA Pro-AM Series event at Pine Valley Raceway in Lufkin, Texas.

The weekend began with the conclusion of a rained out race that originally began at State Capital Raceway in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The remaining rounds of the event ended at Pine Valley Raceway with Britt Cummings and his father Larry Cummings both in the Winner’s Circle. Larry Cummings drove his Moser Engineering backed machine to a title in Super Stock and Britt Cummings took a victory in Top Dragster.

One day later, Britt Cummings extended his streak at Pine Valley Raceway to four consecutive victories. “If it were up to me, we would race at Pine Valley every weekend,” said Cummings. “This facility has been very, very good to me.”

Britt’s younger brother Slate Cummings, who is also a two-time IHRA World Champion, was also a winner in the Super Stock class. The fourth member of the Cummings Moser Engineering Team joined the victory band wagon. Jody Simoneaux drove the Cummings Motorsports Chevy 11 to a Stock Eliminator victory.

“We had a great weekend,” said Britt Cummings. “This is the first time all four of us have won on the same weekend and that’s really special.”

Cummings Motorsports is a family business from Hammond, Louisiana. “We have ten cars,” said Cummings. “We use K&N air and oil filters on all our vehicles. With K&N we’re faster and very consistent at every race and the filters never give us a problem.”

Canadian Baie des Chaleurs Rally Race Wild Ride for Team Andrew-Comire Picard

The Canadian Baie des Chaleurs Rally was a challenge for Andrew Comire-Picard. He overcame failing brakes and finished fifth overall, climbing back from 11th overall the first night.

“From almost the first corner of the rally it was apparent the braking system wasn’t up to handling the weight of the Mitusbishi on these high-speed Baie roads,” said Comrie-Picard. “We have the best pads and fluid in the business, but the rotors and calipers couldn’t take the heat.”

The brake calipers seeped fluid and the rotors overheated during the race. Team ACP had to drive carefully and use the brakes as little as possible. They also had to brake very early. “It was a wild ride,” said guest co-driver Jen Horsey. “Andrew is usually very calm behind the wheel. I’ve never even heard him take a deep breath going into a corner. This time there were a few deep breaths when the pedal hit the floor.”

The team upped the pace on Day 2, pushing hard to move ahead of their rivals. Eventually, Team ACP ran out of time and distance to move any higher than 5th overall.

The finish solidifies the team’s third overall position in the Canadian Rally Championship Series and keeps them within reach of the title.

“We have our work cut out of for us for the rest of the year,” said Comrie-Picard. “The new Mitsubishi Evolution 10 is getting better with every event as we develop it system by system. We fully expect to compete for the win at the next round.”

Team ACP Rally uses K&N products. “I’ve used K&N since I began Rally racing more than a decade ago,” said Comrie-Picard. “We do the most extreme things we can do in a car and K&N is the perfect formula for our turbo charged motors. There is no compromise with K&N which protects our engines from road debris. K&N is the one thing we never have to worry about when we compete.”

The Canadian Rally Championship Series has six events from coast to coast. The Rally America National Championship Series includes nine events in a cross-continent season from January to late October. ACP Rally will contest a busy season, with events on both sides of the Canadian- U.S. border.

The team’s next event will be the X Games in Los Angeles, California. From there they will return to the Canadian Championship Rally Series in September for Round 4, Rallye Defi, outside Montreal.

Already Powerful 2008-2009 Pontiac G8 GT Gains An Additional 11 HP With K&N Air Intake Kit

A few years back Pontiac decided to restore its reputation as GM’s High-Performance brand. Pontiac has seen much success with their line of G8 models. The G8 brings back the V8 power and rear wheel drive once missing from Pontiac’s new car offerings. A mechanical twin of the highly successful Holden Commodore sedan, the G8 rivals full size competitors from Chrysler as well as automakers in Germany. Helping restore Pontiac’s performance heritage even more is K&N's Air Intake System part 63-3071 for the 2008-2009 G8 GT 6.0 liter V8 engine.

Performance Air Intake System 63-3071 helps fire up an already impressive sport sedan with a nearly 12 horsepower increase at the rear wheels. K&N’s Research and Development Department tested a 2008 Pontiac G8 GT 6.0L V8 on our in-house dynamometer. Results showed an increase across the RPM range with a dramatic peak horsepower gain of 11.88 horsepower @ 4,691 RPM! K&N’s 63-3071 provides increased performance while maintaining that “O/E” look with a rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube.

K&N intakes are designed to dramatically reduce intake restriction as they smooth and straighten airflow. More air means more power and torque when you need it.

With a K&N Performance Air Intake System, consumers can count on extra horsepower whether picking up the kids from school, winding along a mountain road, or picking up speed to pass.

This air intake system uses a conical shaped high-flow chrome-top air filter (RC-5138) and powder coated aluminum heat shield in place of the vehicle's stock air box. The result is an air filter that captures harmful particles, flows more air, and increases service life.

This K&N air filter performs for up to 100,000 miles before service is required depending on driving conditions. Improving the air path between the filter and the engine is the rotationally molded high-density polyethylene tube. It offers the most flexibility in design and outstanding horsepower numbers.

The 63-3071 takes about 90 minutes or less to install, using simple hand tools, requires no cutting or drilling, and is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty®.

“The plan for the weekend was to play it conservative and to have fun,” said Lindsay Waggoner of Team Waggoner Racing. “This was an added event and not part of the WE ROCK series. It was also a good time to make sure Roxanne was running smoothly before the final WE ROCK series event."

The Donner Ski Ranch is known for its extreme courses. Cody Waggoner’s father was unable to make the event so Randall Davis stepped in to spot for him. “I was nervous about Randall spotting for my husband, especially since he never spotted before,” said Lindsay Waggoner. “But Randall proved to be a great asset to our team. He ran around, moved rocks and was extremely focused the entire weekend.”

Communication went well from the first course on for Waggoner and Davis. “There is no reason to try and push my rig to the extreme until it’s needed,” said Cody Waggoner. “I just drive like I know how to drive and do the best I can. That seems to work out for the best.”

At the end of the first day of competition, Team Waggoner was sitting in second place with only 6 points to make up on Sunday. “With courses like this it’s not over until it’s over,” said Waggoner. “We still had one more day to take the lead and win the event. We also had our K&N air filter which gave us more horsepower on our engine.”

The game plan for Team Waggoner continued to be a conservative approach. “We watched the other competitors and saw what we needed to do to stay on top and take the point lead,” said Waggoner. “Rock crawling is like chess, you have to figure out what move your opponent might make and then plan accordingly. Sometimes it works out.”

Team Waggoner took on bonus Course B3, also known as The Wall. It was a straight up rock climb that was tough. Some competitors made it, some rolled off the side before getting to the top. “When you are climbing at angles that extreme all you see is the sky and you think you are at the top, but you’re not,” he said. “Once I slowed I knew we had to do something so I would not roll of the side, so I pulled the rest of the way up instead of backing down and starting over again.” The final run was very technical, but they pulled it off and took first place. “Our K&N air filter gave us more horsepower than ever on our engine,” said Waggoner. “Our motor with K&N is strong and powerful.”

Team Waggoner will battle it out for the first place series title of the 2009 WE ROCK West Coast Series July 18-19 in Oroville, California.
