Vaughn Gittin Jr. slid into Road America in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin for the
Kohler International Challenge with Brian Redman presented by Ford. This
signature event is known for drawing in over 1000 entries for racing, touring,
and the Road & Track Concours d'Elegance. Vaughn kept the crowd on their feet
with his notorious drifting smoke show that displayed the remarkable performance
of his 2010 Falken Tire Ford Mustang and K&N Filters.

Over the weekend, Vaughn was on hand to give over 150 race enthusiasts the ride
of their lives on the track. “Driving a car of this caliper for ride after ride
really takes a toll on its hardware,” says Vaughn. “Luckily, my confidence level
stayed up knowing that K&N protects both the air coming into and the oil flowing
through my motor. K&N is definitely a huge part of why my Mustang is so
reliable.”
Brian Redman, legendary driver and host of the event, strapped into the
passenger seat for his chance to experience drifting. “It was a true honor
taking Brian for a ride,” says Vaughn. “I’ve already received a phone call
saying that he wants me to teach him how to drift. It’s great to know that I’ve
made a legend like him fall in love with the incredible sport of drifting.”
The Monster Jam Summer Heat Series in Hagerstown, Maryland was filled with Monster Truck action. Trey Meyers in the Iron Warrior, Michael Vaters in Black Stallion, Randy Brown in Grave Digger, Chad Fortune in Superman, Chris Baker in El Toro and Scott Hartsock in Gun Slinger went out in full force at Hagerstown Speedway.

It rained all day on the clay oval track and stopped just in time for the gates to open. “The fans just poured into the stands,” said Vaters. “They didn’t care about the wet conditions. They wanted to see monster truck competition.”

The rain made the track greasy and added a challenging element to monster truck racing. “The lane on the grand stand side was slick,” said Vaters. “Any driver who was unfortunate enough to get in that lane had problems. The pit side race lane was better because it was gravel and had something for the monster trucks to bite into.”
Racing wins determined the lanes drivers were given. Vaters alternated between good and bad lanes. In round one, Vaters defeated Superman by driving the K&N Ford Powered Black Stallion. In the semi-finals, Grave Digger defeated Vaters. Just before the freestyle the rain started again. “It made the competition more interesting as the 10,000 pound monster trucks ice skated on the greasy clay surface,” said Vaters. “There was a lot of speed and even more sliding.” Despite the hurdles, Vaters managed to take 3rd in freestyle.
The next day the weather cooperated and racing was fast and competitive as the drivers faced off against each other. “The trucks were getting major air,” said Vaters. “I defeated Superman then El Toro Loco in the K&N Ford Powered Black Stallion, but Grave Digger ultimately took the win.”
The monster trucks ran hard all weekend and the abuse came back to the pits. Grave Digger broke an axel during an exhibition and Iron Warrior lost a transmission. The K&N Ford Powered Black Stallion plowed through the competing monster trucks and worked its way into the racing finals only to be defeated by Superman.
Vaters also brought his Kamikaze jet powered 4-wheeler and roared around the track with a flame show. "The crowd loved the noise and I could see their faces as I drove by," he said.
Black Stallion and Iron Warrior depend on K&N air filters and oil filters. “There is no wear pattern on our engines with K&N,” said Vaters. “K&N catches all the dirt under our extreme Monster
truck conditions. The K&N oil filter is easy to take off and works well even though it gets banged up every time we take it on the course
Vaters Monster Motorsports will next put on a thrill show for the Washington County Maryland Agriculture Expo and Fair.
On the 14th race of the Feather Falls Casino Championship Season, sprint car driver Jonathan Allard dominated Silver Dollar Speedway in Chico, California from the start

Allard started on the front row in the K&N Filters No. 0 and charged into the lead. After a handful of laps, K&N sponsored driver
Andy Forsberg moved into second place. In the end Allard picked up his fourth main event win of the season in the Silver Dollar Speedway Bullring.
“It was a battle on the track,” said Allard. “Racing was very tight, but that’s what good racing is all about. We had very good racing and very clean racing.”
Allard is only seven points behind the points leader in the Golden State Challenge Series as he heads into double header this weekend at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
“We’re having a good run this season,” said Allard. “We use K&N oil and air filters along with K&N’s carbon fiber air box. K&N makes the best products, the oil and air filters are easy to use and maintain. K&N gives us an edge in sprint car racing and is dependable every time.”
X-Games Rally Driver Andrew Comrie-Picard (ACP) will compete at Lake Elsinore, California in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.
X Games Rally Racer Andrew Comrie Picard to compete in SuperLite Trucks at Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series at Lake Elsinore, California
Comrie-Picard will make his debut in the short course off road racing truck series in a Bully Dog NOS Energy Drink SuperLite truck. “I’ve always wanted to race off-road and am totally thrilled to be doing this event,” he said. “I grew up on a farm and all my early driving was off-road and trucks so I’m hoping some of it comes back to me.”
The LOORRS Series is all about intense four-wheel, door-to-door action on challenging courses that include huge jumps over dirt mounds.
“I like racing in traffic, we don’t get to do it much in rally, but the psychology and strategy of being out on the track with a bunch of other competitive guys is exciting,” said Comrie-Picard. “The course’s jumps will also be good practice for the big one we’ll run in the rally car at the Home Depot stadium on August 2nd at the X Games in Los Angeles, California.”
Comrie-Picard said he already feels at home in the LOORRS Series. K&N Filters, a major supporter of ACP’s Rally Program is a sponsor of the Lucas Oil Series. “We work in tough conditions with a motor built right to the edge of the envelope,” said Comrie-Picard. “K&N keeps contaminants out of our engines and has been our choice for a decade.”
LOORRS racing will be featured on the Speed TV, Versus and NBC.
Caitlin Shaw will make her debut this weekend in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Red Horse Racing at the O’ Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Indiana. Driving in NASCAR has always been one of Shaw’s goals.
Caitlin Shaw will make her NASCAR Camping World Truck Series for Red Horse Racing in No. 1 Toyota at O'Reilly Raceway Park in Indianapolis, Indiana
The 19-year-old has been running open wheel cars for 10-years. Shaw is the first female driver from New Mexico to compete in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series and the third youngest female to ever compete in NASCAR history. She is the second youngest female in the Truck Series behind Chrissy Wallace.
“I tested with Red Horse Racing last fall but NASCAR told me I needed stock car experience,” she said. “I started driving late model stock cars at
Hickory Motors Speedway in North Carolina and sent my results to NASCAR after each race. Then, I received a call from NASCAR letting me know I was approved to race in the small trucks.”
In 2009, Shaw competed in eight NASCAR late model events and has been in the top ten twice. “It’s great to see some of the hard work paying off,” she said. “It’s also nerve wracking, but everything is falling into place.”
Shaw is a big believer in K&N products. “I’ve used K&N filters for years,” she said. “K&N makes the best products out there. We get excellent filtration and additional horsepower with K&N.” Her Red Horse Racing Toyota truck will also be equipped with K&N products.
“Caitlin will be driving the Toyota Number one truck,” said Tom DeLoach, owner of Red Horse Racing. “It’s fitting for her first time in the truck series. We have great expectations from Caitlin and hope to get her qualified to run a full circuit.”
