Ford Racing Mustang Challenge Champion Andrew Caddell sealed his second consecutive victory in the series at Miller Motorsports Park near Salt Lake City, Utah. It was a racing dream come true for the 21-year-old from Graham, Washington.

“We had to work hard for the championship this year,” said Caddell. “We won the first race of the year in Homestead, Miami and struggled after that.”

The turning point for Caddell came after the 45th Anniversary of the Mustang event at Barber Motorsports Park. “We changed the motor and the rest of the season was great,” he said. “We won in New Jersey, finished second at Laguna Seca and picked up a total of four race wins for the season. Things just kept getting better.”
Caddell’s Ford Mustang uses the Ford Mustang FR500s as a competition platform for the series. It is equipped with a 4.6 liter V8 engine and K&N products. “I’ve been using K&N since I was 9-years-old in Go Karts,” he said. “I have a lifetime of racing with K&N and I don’t remember racing without K&N products. K&N filters give me a competitive edge.”
The 45-minute race at Miller Motorsports Park was intense. Caddell established his lead and held off the advances of his competition to take the checkered flag. “We just wanted to go out there and go out on top,” he said. “We just wanted to win. You can never let your guard down when you’re trying to win a championship.”
In the off season, Caddell will be working with a personal trainer. “It’s important to have that mind-body connection feeling,” said Caddell. “Mental
toughness is an important part of racing. If you don't have it you are not going
to be as good as you need to be to win.”
Caddel is hoping to race again in 2010. “Next year is still up in the air,” he said. “It would also be great to run in the Grand Am KONI GS Series and run a Mustang there.

"I've been going full-throttle since the day I learned to walk - according to my mother," explains David Lewien. David and his wife Patricia own and operate Blue Moon Motorsports, an asphalt short track stock car program, located in Blanco, Texas, and as Lewien is apt to point out, that's only 35 miles north of San Antonio.

Lewien's roots run deep and wide into old school, southern, racing traditions. His earliest recollections lead back to the neighborhood, racing anything that would roll with the other kids, Big Wheels, tricycles, bicycles - "our dad's riding-lawnmowers."
"Saturdays, after chores. We'd mark out a track using bricks and tree limbs on the parking lot of my Dad's church where he was the Pastor. That came to an abrupt end when one of us fell off, and the tractor kept going though a stained glass church window," recalls Lewien.
Over the years the racing jones kept growing, leading Lewien to being licensed by NASCAR to race in the Craftsman Truck Series. However, financial reality soon set in and racing had to take a backseat to family and work. Still, the passion to race never died. In '08, with the support of his wife, Lewien returned to the track in the number 3 Chevrolet, running in the Texas Pro Truck Touring Series, and together they created Blue Moon Motorsports. Racing for only a partial season in that first year, Lewien still managed to finish a respectable ninth in the points.
Blue Moon Motorsports is third in points and only 32 points away from the top.
"I think that with the improvements we've shown this year, we are third in points, only 32 points out of first, we should see our first win next year, and a Championship within the next two years." Lewien is nothing if not energetic and positive at all times about racing.

They came out fired up this year and qualified second for the first race of the season. "We've qualified on the Pole three times this year, with three top five finishes and seven top tens. Our best finish of the year was fourth twice," adds Lewien.
Lewien is also resolutely enthusiastic about his relationship with K&N. Pole Position at Houston Motorsports Park
Lewien is by no means a single dimension racer, or person, for that matter. There's another passion he pursues with the same vigor as racing. At the end of last year they formed R.A.S.A.R. (Racers Against Substance Abuse Rally). R.A.S.A.R is a non-profit, faith based organization, whose goal is to use the excitement of racing along with the impact of a real race car to capture the attention of children and young adults in the Intermediate, Middle and High School age brackets.
"We have met with the local school district and they have agreed to let us do several R.A.S.A.R. presentations at various campuses throughout the school year. We plan to expand this to school districts statewide," beams Lewien.
The Lewiens have an interesting, highly visible, logo that was worth asking about.
"My wife and I were married under a Blue Moon. A blue moon being two full moons in one month, that only happens only once every couple of years, so it's special. The Pegasus part of the logo signifies the flight to follow your dreams. My wife had a poster with a Pegasus and the motto "Let your Dreams take flight". We thought that motto represented what we wanted to do in racing and with R.A.S.A.R."

World of Outlaws racer Jason Meyers is second in points standings, just behind Donny Schatz as he chases his first
championship title.

Tensions were high at Williams Grove Speedway for the National Open in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania. “We were headed into the toughest
track that we raced on all year and faced the toughest competition,” said Meyers. “But we had some great runs at Williams Grove this year and we had a lot of momentum going into the race.”
Jason Meyers is currently second in points heading into his next event in Texas, just behind leader Donny Schatz as he chases his first World of Outlaws Championship title.
Schatz holds the most impressive record of all Word of Outlaw drivers at Williams Grove Speedway. Meyers did not let that deter him and continued to improve at the one-half mile semi-banked clay oval.
Meyers was fastest in the 2nd hot lap session on Saturday evening. During qualifying the track began to slow almost immediately. Meyers circled in 16.729 seconds to come in 13th, just one position behind Schatz.
Meyers lined up on the pole of the 1st heat and won a qualifying position in the Crane Cams Dash. The Elite Racing Team driver charged high in turns 1 and 2 to take 3rd place, where he eventually finished. This put Meyers in 3rd position for the 30 lap A Main.
Meyers lined up for the best starting position in his career at a National Open Main event. Pole sitter Greg Hodnett set a blistering pace at the start and Meyers slipped to 4th place. Meyers and Schatz moved around the race track looking for a way to get to the front. On lap 16 Meyers used a run off to move past Schatz and take 2nd position. Unfortunately a red flag flew before he
completed it and the pass was voided by officials.
On the restart Meyers slipped to 5th place. “I was struggling with a full fuel load,” he said. “It took me a few laps to get going.” As the laps wound down, Meyers moved back into 3rd position behind Schatz. Both closed in on the leader until the red flag flew again.
On the restart the top two points leaders in the World of Outlaws tried to find a way to the front. Meyers was close on the bumper of 2nd place
racer Schatz and tried to make another pass. Schatz however was looking for a way around Hodnett. As the three exited turn 4 for the last time, it was Hodnett for the win, Schatz in second and Meyers in third.
The 3rd place finish was Meyers’ career best at the National Open. He only lost two points in the overall point battle for the championship.

The two night 360 sprint car event is one of the few races remaining in Northern California for the veteran driver. Allard said he has a lot to accomplish over the next few weeks. “The Trophy Cup
race seems to be the most fun out of all the races all season long,” said Allard. “In previous years we’ve always been fast at this race. It seems as though something always takes the win out of our reach. We’ve had a really good year at the Tulare track and I have a lot of confidence going into the Trophy Cup
event.”

During the 2008 Trophy Cup Allard had engine problems during qualifying. That left him with the 42nd fastest time. He was unable to run his heat race on opening night and that ended his chance of victory.
“The highlight of the 2008 event was going from 18th place to 3rd place in the B-Main,” said the two-time King of California. “This year Tulare will have a really good field and as always we can’t wait.”
Allard has a good record at the Tulare, California track. He scored a pair of podiums and a fifth place finish at the Thunderbowl in the 2009 season. The Trophy Cup uses a unique points system to determine the winner. It rewards performance from consecutive nights of heats, transfers and main-event races.
This is the second time in the events history that organizers have had to turn down cars, the event is filled to capacity with 72 pre-registered cars. The field will include past Trophy Cup champions Ronnie Day , 1994, Tommy Tarlton, 2000, Craig Stidham, 2001 and Brent Kaeding 1996, 1998, 1999 and 2005.
Last weekend, Allard went into the Pacific Sprint Fall Nationals in Chico, California. He scored a 10th place finish in the 40-lap finale at the Silver Dollar Speedway.
