K&N Releases Performance Oil Filter for Several 2009 to 2016 Vehicles

K&N has released a new canister oil filter part HP-2011 that fits quite a few 2009 to 2016 vehicles. See the current vehicle application list below. Like most K&N OEM replacement canister oil filters for cars and trucks, the HP-2011 has a 1 inch welded nut for easy removal with a wrench or ratchet set. The nut on the oil filter has a drilled hole for safety wire attachment if desired. The filter also has heavy canister walls to help protect it from rocks and other debris. K&N canister oil filters allow for high flow rates while providing outstanding filtration. The extra strength and engineering of K&N oil filters offers peace of mind for consumers who want only the best. The HP-2011 wrench off oil filter is the OEM replacement for the following vehicles:

That Girl Racing Moves Their NHRA Pro-Stock Snowmobile and Asphalt Program to Ice

Tiina and Kiersten Duncanson of That Girl Racing
Tiina and Kiersten Duncanson of That Girl Racing
Loosely paraphrasing a Willie Nelson song "Mammas don't let you babies grow up to be NHRA Pro-Stock drag-sled racers," we say why the tarnations not? Who better to spend time with traveling from race to race? Mother and daughter bonding time is essential, some knit together, others cook, as in going really, really fast - down a grassy, or asphalt drag strip - or an icy one for that matter.

Tiina (That Girl) Duncanson is the mother, Kiersten (That Other Girl) is the daughter - together they are That Girl Racing. Both of the Duncanson girls are world record-breaking, grass, drag-sled racers living in Acton, Ontario, Canada. On the track their style is focused aggression, even when facing each other, putting an entirely new face to the expression "man-up." Off the track Kiersten defines their style as "Anything that's tacky. Big glasses, leg-warmers and cardigans, or just a plain tee and jeans."

"We started out last years' NHRA Pro-Stock snowmobile program with a completely new chassis and motor combo. Our first race was at Route 66 in Joliet, Illinois, and the new combo showed some real potential, but ultimately it was just not fast enough yet," explains Tiina.

"We spent many weekends at Toronto Motorsports Park in Ontario, testing the new combo and slowly getting it better. We ran quite a few more races after that, Syracuse, New York, Milan, Michigan, Epping, New Hampshire, and we slowly started to get it fine-tuned and progressively more competitive. Then at US 131 in Martin, Michigan, back in September, it all came together and we ran an outstanding 8.07 @ 157 mph. We qualified number 1, and went on to win the race."

"We are now getting ready for the ‘ice' season. On ice we use different sleds and run 1/8 mile. Our first race is at the World Series of Ice in Port Huron, Michigan, at the end of January. The next race after that is in Quebec, Canada, at St. Joseph de Beauce, on February 19-21. The weekend after that is our last ice race of the season, at Lake Morey in Vermont," continues Tiina.

In early March That Girl Racing moves back to their quarter-mile sleds, running in Valdosta, Georgia, at an AMA motorcycle event were they race sleds as an Exhibition-Class event. Their first actual race is in Atco, New Jersey, on April 10.

"We run the Lucas Oil NHRA Series in Division's 1 and 3. Some of the other tracks we run at are Norwalk, Maplegrove, Indy, Brainerd and Joliet," adds Tiina.

"We always run K&N products on all our motors. We use RU1480's on the ice sleds with the 48mm carbs, and on our asphalt sleds with the 58mm carbs, we use RX4140. We also installed a 63-2576 intake system on our Ford F-450 tow vehicle. We found it increased our fuel mileage over 1 mpg, which is huge on a vehicle that was getting 9 mpg."

Harold Bubblebee Goodman 2x AMA Extreme Dirt Track Pro Nationals Champ Goes for More

ATV Racer Harold Goodman in Action

Harold Goodman, the Romulus, Michigan native, began racing in 1986 and turned professional in 1995, every year since then he's hovered near, or has been at the top of his profession. He won both the '07 and '08 AMA Extreme Dirt Track Pro Nationals, and was a member of the 2008 Baja 1000 Championship Team. In '08 he was voted the All Terrain Vehicle Association (ATVA) Athlete of the Year.

Last year Goodman went four-for-four in the Pro-Lites Class of the AMA/ATVA Extreme Dirt Track National ATV Series. He finished a wheel length short of accomplishing the same thing in the Pro Division. Goodman's racing style is both aggressive and methodological and it's captured not only the attention of fans but sponsors. Last year Goodman missed winning the third Dirt Track Championship by several points.

"In '09 everything was going to plan. Unfortunately, in the second to last round, I had some first lap bad luck that put me behind in the points. I was unable to win the last round, which was what I needed to win a third pro championship. I was happy with a second though. However, in the Pro-Lites Class, I won the first five rounds, securing a third championship in that class. The overall season was good for me," understates Goodman.

Asked about the nickname the "Bumblebee," Goodman says, "that came about around 1986 or 87. I was just starting to get faster on my KX 60 modified four-wheeler. I was having a hard time knowing when to shift. One of my competitors' fathers told me to make the bike sound like a bumblebee and then shift. With that little bit of instruction, I improved my shifting points and got a lot faster. After that he started calling me the Bumblebee and the name stuck."

"I use K&N filters on all my bikes. They provide the best power and filtration. Of course I use the filter cleaner and oil all of the time too. I have also put a K&N intake system on my V10 Excursion, and it improved the power and gas mileage."

This next season Goodman will race in all of the AMA Pro ATV Nationals, as well as all the Grand National Cross Country Series (GNCC) events. "This will be my first year competing in the GNCC races and I look forward to it," say Goodman. "I will also go to a few EDT Nationals, but will not be doing the whole series." Not this time anyway.

Lloyd Brothers Originality Positions Aprilia Near the Summit of Flat-Track Racing

Lloyd Brothers Motorsports in Action

David and Michael Lloyd, based in central Ohio, have amassed over 22 years of indispensable motorcycle racing experience. Together they own and operate Lloyd Brothers Motorsports, Inc. In 2005 the brothers successfully developed and raced the only Aprilia-based motorcycles in AMA professional competition. Using Aprilia engines as the core, they developed their own chassis around that, and then employing part-time riders, working within a barebones budget, along with their own brand of innovative engineering and design, they managed to evolve the Aprilia into extremely competitive flat-track racers.
Lloyd Brothers Motorsports focused solely on dirt track in 2009

That particular effort didn't go unnoticed by Aprilia USA, as they took LBM on as a support sponsor, combining to make 2006 a highly successful year by all measures. That year LBM ran in all 11 AMA Grand National Twins events, qualifying for the main event seven times. To put this in perspective, only nine established teams made more main events and only three additional teams made as many main events as Aprilia and LBM.

The following year, Aprilia and LBM, along with associate sponsor American Agip, combined their efforts to include The Grand AM Moto-St Endurance Road Race Series and their results again were nothing less than spectacular.

"On paper '09 was not as glorious as '08 and '07, however, going into the season we knew that it was going to be a building year," says David.

"In addition to almost winning a Grand National Twins Dirt Track race in '08, we were successful in winning the Moto-ST Road Race Championship in '07 and '08 with Ty Howard and Mike Himmelsbock riding. Budget cuts for '09 dictated that the team would focus solely on dirt track and not defend the Moto-ST Championship."

"Thanks to our product sponsors and continued financial support from American Agip, we entered '09 with the intention of improving the Aprilia flat-tracker (which lost the '08 Lima, Ohio National Half Mile by .017 seconds) and looking forward to the first win. Harley and Honda factory race engines have won every Twins National in the last 26 years so we were close but still needed a little luck. Unfortunately our rider, Kevin Atherton, was hurt during testing and would only race one race before we enlisted rookie Aaron King to finish the season on the Aprilia. Aaron did well and qualified for his first twins national," adds David.

In addition to developing the Aprilia, Lloyd Brothers Motorsports teamed up with Larry Pegram and built a couple of Ducati dirt-trackers. One was with a modified stock frame and the second bike had a custom dirt-track chassis. Larry made the main event first try at the famed Springfield Mile on the stock framed bike. No one can remember the last time that a stock framed bike made a Twins National. It has been at least 40 years. This Ducati is only the seond Ducati ever to make a dirt track national main event and the bike shows incredible promise.

"For 2010, American Agip has committed to be title sponsor of the team. We will be racing the Aprilia dirt trackers with Aaron King (son of former Harley Factory racer Rich King). Aaron is a great kid and has a lot of talent. He is young but has showed maturity beyond his years. 2010 will be his first full season on the AMA Pro Grand National Twins Series. Aaron is consistently getting better every time he rides the bike and we all believe that he will follow in his father's foot steps and have a solid season which will build a foundation for a great career."

The team also plans on racing the Ducati flat track bike in 2010. AMA Superbike winner, Larry Pegram, will again ride at selected events that do not conflict with his road-racing schedule. LBM is currently in the process of recruiting a top dirt-track rider to also ride the entire series aboard the Ducati.

"We use K&N Filter products exclusively on our race bikes," says David. "The high quality of K&N Filters makes it the only viable choice - especially on a dirt-track environment. 140 MPH in the deep cushion can really tear equipment up. Using K&N Filters and filter oil keeps our engines spotless inside."

"Product sponsors, like K&N Filters, make it possible for teams like ours to not only continue racing, but also to keep things clean so that we can win. And we clearly look forward to winning in 2010."

"My proudest achievement is raising two well-adjusted, successful children," says Bill Werner. This is a glimpse of insight into a man whose dazzling triumphs so often over shadow any of his other dimensions.

Werner is a legendary, AMA Hall of Fame, racing mechanic. From 1966 to 2004 he worked for Harley Davidson's race department, wrenching the motorcycles that carried Gary Scott, Jay Springsteen and Scott Parker to a total of 13 AMA Grand National Championships and 150 total wins.

Harley aficionados claim when Werner was born on April 26, 1944, in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, it wasn't merely fitting - it was an omen. Werner's interest in motorcycling was sparked when a friend talked him into going up to nearby Cedarburg Fairgrounds to watch AMA National Champion Carroll Resweber. He was barely 16, watching Resweber that fateful day, when destiny stepped in. Shortly after he embarked on his own racing career.

Werner began by running in local scrambles events, but soon progressed through the ranks as a novice, junior and ultimately earned his expert license. He never raced as an expert though, looming responsibilities and injuries saw to that. Racing did however lead him to meet Ralph Berndt. Berndt was the tuner for Resweber. And the rest, as they say, is history.

"Well, yes, being involved with flat-track racing and being born in Milwaukee helped create opportunities for me. I was a neighbor of Ralph Berndt who was Carroll Resweber's tuner during the years when he was number one, even though he worked for the Harley Factory. He built all of Resweber's equipment at home and was a kind of mentor to me. He helped me get a job at the Harley factory in the Racing department, which created many opportunities for me to get involved with people like Jay Springsteen, Scott Parker, Bryan Smith, and many more in the flat-track world," recalls Werner.

Some say that luck, or fate is merely preparedness intersecting with timing, Werner however calls them accidents, which is how he says his relationship with Kawasaki happened.

"I was at the Daytona Road races in 2007 to help my old friend Jay Springsteen in the endurance series there. He was riding a Kawasaki Ex 650 Ninja and I volunteered to carry tires back and forth to get mounted. Before you know it, I got recruited to do more than just carry tires. Within a few weeks after that race I was approached to be the crew chief for the team. With Jay being involved I just couldn't say no."

"I knew nothing about the bikes, but thought heck it's a motorcycle, I guess I will just muddle through it and figure it out. Shortly after that I got a call from Ken Saillant at the AMA, who asked me if I would build a dirt tracker for the new Basic Twins Class that was being introduced to flat-track racing. And again, I couldn't say no."

"I chose the Kawasaki because I thought it was a neat little engine and easy to work on. Next thing I knew I was even more involved in racing than ever before, building road racers and dirt trackers. So much for retirement," quips Werner.

"I had the opportunity to meet several people from Kawasaki at the races - Jeff Herzog, Jan Plessner and Bruce Stjernstrom. And before you know it I was getting some support for my racing activities. I can't tell you how great the people at Kawasaki have been to me. During a visit to their headquarters I ran into Walt Fulton, an old factory Harley racer who works there, small world this motorcycle fraternity."

For 2010 Werner's plans include fielding a new flat track team along with his good friend Springsteen. Springsteen's contribution will be as a mentor and test rider in the AMA Grand National Twins Series and the AMA Grand National Singles Series, and his nephew Chas will be a a rider in the AMA Pro Singles Series.

"We are going to announce the team riders as soon as we finish with all the commitments with sponsors. That way everyone can get the recognition they deserve. I can tell you that all riders will be on Kawasaki's though," adds Werner.

"My relationship with K&N started back in the early '70's, when we first put a set of air filters on a Harley XR750, and were thrilled with the results on the dyno and flow-bench. We made more power with the air filters on, than with no filter at all. Anyone that knows something about the XR 750, and its cams, will understand how this is possible. Currently I use the air filters and oil filters on all my race bikes and in my transporter as well. I think they are the best - period," concludes Werner.
