Eric Holmes is one green flag away from winning his third NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship.
Holmes won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at All American Speedway in Roseville, California, on Saturday night.
Eric Holmes and David Mayhew battle for the lead.
It was his fifth NASCAR K&N Pro Series West win of the season and the 14th of his career.
With a 156-point lead in the West Series standings, all Holmes needs to do is start the season finale at Phoenix International Raceway next month to win the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West championship. He won the West Series championship in 2006 and 2008.
Holmes led five times for 108 laps, taking the lead for the last time on lap 114, at Roseville. He was out front for the final 36 laps of the race, finishing ahead of David Mayhew, who is second place in the West Series standings.

"That was an awesome race with David Mayhew," Holmes said. "That was a lot of fun. We just had to worry about some of those lappers and stuff going on, but man that was great side-by-side short track racing right there. I just can't thank David enough for racing me so clean. I'm proud to race against that guy."
Holmes won for the third time in his West Series career at All American Speedway. There were 10 lead changes among three drivers. Holmes won the pole and led the first 26 laps of the race. Mayhew took over the lead on lap 27 and held it for two laps before Jacob Gomes took over on lap 29.
"By far, I think we had pretty much the best car," said Holmes, driver of the No. 20 Toyota for Bill McAnally Racing. "After one of those greens my car wouldn't come in. I think the track was still oiled down and we all slipping and sliding and those two got by me."
Gomes, who was making his West Series debut, was in the lead until lap 44. Mayhew regained the lead on lap 45. He and Holmes traded the lead six times before Holmes finally pulled away on a restart on lap 144.
"I was just trying to be patient. I knew I had a good car and I knew I could get it at the end," Holmes said. "It was getting tough to decide inside or outside on them restarts and I just decided just to take the outside. It's tough calling clear down there in Turn 3, but I just gave him the room every lap and just made sure I got off them corners."
Holmes snapped the two-race winning streak of his teammate, Paulie Harraka, at All American Speedway. Mayhew posted his eighth top-five finish in 11 West Series race this year.
"It was good racing with Eric, but we needed to be on the outside and obviously he knew that too and took the outside the last couple a restarts," said Mayhew. "If we could get up on the outside of him, we could after four or five laps take the lead and start driving away but he could do the same thing when we were stuck on the bottom. It was just a good, clean run with Eric. I just wish some of the guys in the back could have calmed down a little bit so we could have some little bit longer green flag runs."
Eric Schmidt was third, followed by Harraka in fourth and Juan Pitta in fifth. Gomes spun out midway through the race and ended up in 10th.
Luis Martinez Jr. was the highest finishing rookie in sixth place.
The NASCAR K&N Pro Series season finale is scheduled for Nov. 13 at Phoenix International Raceway.
With his busy schedule this year DeCaire has only raced once in defense of his 2009 CFWSS title, and he won that one.
Troy DeCaire has earned yet another trophy to add to his already blinged-out mantle. The 24-year-old Tampa, Florida, K&N sponsored driver has previously collected the 2009 CFWSCA Championship, two TBARA Championships, and now he owns the 2010 Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series Championship title, with his second place finish at Dells Raceway Park in Wisconsin.
Troy DeCaire can now add 2010 Must See Racing Xtreme Sprint Series Championship title to his long list of racing accomplishments.
"This was probably physically the toughest race I've driven all year, with jumping in a car I've never driven before, and knowing I had to take it to the front to win this championship, which makes this championship that much sweeter," said DeCaire. "I would like to thank Tony Swanson for working his butt off with me to get this car sorted, and also for just giving me a car to drive after me and my previous owner parted ways earlier in the week."
Recently Troy picked up the Swanson-owned Competition Welding chassis, which was a backup to the team's primary, and worked on it all night Thursday and Friday to get ready for Saturday's big race.
"I've never driven a Competition Welding car before and it was not easy, but Tony was great and each time we went out we picked up more speed" continued DeCaire. "I was fifth quick in practice and put down two solid laps to qualify eighth, right behind Bobby East, who had a pretty new car with a Roush Yates 410 in it, so I was pretty happy with that."
The 2010 Must See Racing Xtreme Championship series consisted of 11 races. The MSRXSS was formed to provide a showcase for the fastest and best pavement sprint car drivers in the country.
"This series is very competitive and it's only going to gain strength in the coming years," remarked DeCaire. "There are a lot of solid drivers with stout equipment, then add in some of the toughest tracks in the country, and you have in my opinion one of the best series in the country."
DeCaire says that for him the biggest difference in driving any racecar is in adjusting to a different team, and in the way they approach their day-to-day operation.
"As far as going from one chassis make to the next, I just try to approach each car with an open mind and apply what I have learned over the years on setup basics," explains DeCaire. "It's still a left hand turn and if it has four wheels and a seat I trust the people I surround myself with and I can make it work."
In regards to his defense of the Central Florida Wingless Sprints Series DeCaire says, "Since I concentrated on the Must See Racing series up in the Midwest this year, and picking up some USAC rides whenever I could, I only had the chance to race once with the CFWSS series this year. However, it was a good outing for me, as the promoters put up some extra cash if I started last and could win, and I did. Plus it was nice seeing so many of my hometown fans once again, so it was a pretty special night for me."
"Thank you again to K&N and all my sponsors, this has been a dream year for me and 2011 will only be better."
Well, that monkey is finally done following the team around this year, reads the opening line of Lee Jacobs and Hammer Motorsports press release. Jacobs got his first win of the season Saturday night at Attica Raceway Park in Attica, Ohio.
Lee Jacobs was so excited about finally getting his first win of the season he could barely keep his wheels on the ground.
"There is much more racing to come so hopefully this trend continues," commented Jacobs.
By all measures it's been a frustrating season for the Fremont, Ohio racer. However, the 410 sprint car driver nicknamed "The Snowman" put that all behind him by dominating the season Championship Night at Attica recently .Jacobs led all 30 laps for the feature win. This was Jacobs' fourth career victory at Attica.
"This is a huge bounce-back for our team. We made some changes here the past week and we really clicked tonight," remarked Jacobs about his Randy and Lisa Hammer owned K&N sponsored number 24h car.
"I didn't even know where victory lane was…it's been so long since I've won a race I didn't know if I was going to get another one," quipped Jacobs.
Jacobs claims he had no real interest in racing sprint cars till he was 17 years old. "All of a sudden something clicked and I knew this is what I wanted to do." That click he heard was no doubt the time-release race genetics kicking in. Jacobs is part of a very large and involved racing family lineage.
"I have 22 aunts and uncles and over 50 cousins," says Jacobs. "My great grandfather built Wayne County Speedway, both my Grandpa and Grandma Jacobs raced at Wayne County. My father, uncle Dean, and Uncle Bud have all raced sprint cars, and all have individual track championships. My sister Jennifer and I raced go-karts together, and my sister Kendra currently works for Hendrick Motorsports as a P.R. director for Mark Martin. I also have a cousin Chris Petit that is a tire changer for Robby Gordon."
"Lee Jacobs and Hammer Motorsports feels that with the daily maintenance and use of K&N air and oil filters keeping our motors clean, we are on top of the game," commented Randy Hammer.
"We feel K&N products and the staff are reliable, dependable, and helped our race team have the winning edge. While it has taken this new team awhile to get into victory lane, we feel we are on the right track. We have been extremely pleased with the products and appreciate the support Bob Harris and your team has given us for several years."
