Greg Pursley celebrate K&N Pro-Series Race at Portland International Raceway
Greg Pursley won the pole, led every lap and breezed through the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Portland International Raceway.

He won his fourth race of the season and the 13th of his career. The reigning K&N Pro Series West champion held off late charges from Michael Self and Eric Holmes to not only win the NAPA Auto Parts Salute to the Troops 125, but add to his lead in the West Series standings.

"Everybody was running really good laps there at the end," said Pursley, a driver for Gene Price Motorsports. "I just wanted to get some breathing room and run as hard as I could. It worked out well and finally brought one home."

Pursley's history at Portland has been mixed. He has finished on the podium a number of times and blew an engine while leading the race last year.

"We've finished second a lot," Pursley said. "We've finished third here. We blew up leading, with a huge lead, last year. Just happy to come out of here with a win finally. We just love this place."

Michael Self finished second, his fifth top 10 performance in the past six races. He battled a stomach ailment throughout the weekend and the race.

"Tough one. Tough week to overcome," Self said. "About the time that first yellow flag came around there, my stomach started rolling over. I remembered that food poisoning was kicking in. As soon as we got going back green, the adrenaline would kind of kick in. That's kind of what I kept looking forward to."

Self has won two K&N Pro Series West races and has seven top five finishes in 12 races this year. The first win of his career came at Brainerd International Raceway in Minnesota during May. He was the highest-finishing driver from the K&N Pro Series West in the race at Iowa Speedway on Aug. 3 and was credited with his second win of the season.

"It just shows how much power we have and how far I've come learning and adapting to these cars and this NASCAR style of racing," Self said. "Despite being sick and not feeling real well, I'm still having a lot of fun out there. I'm glad we could get a second out of it. Definitely wanted to get one more position, but a fun race for sure."

Eric Holmes, a three-time K&N Pro Series West champion, battled with Pursley for the lead on the last two restarts. But he fell behind Self in the closing laps to finish third and record his sixth top five of the season.

"I thought I had something for Greg, the second to last restart was really good," Holmes said. "I got a good jump on him and almost beat him in to turn one. I was hoping to do that on the last one, but he jumped the start a on me and did what he had to do to win that thing. Disappointed with third, but it was a fun race actually."

Pursley has a 15-point lead over teammate Dylan Kwasniewski in the K&N Pro Series West standings after 12 races. Kwasniewski finished fourth at Portland.

Derek Thorn was fifth, his eighth top-five finish of the season.

The NAPA Auto Parts Salute to the Troops 125 will be televised on Speed on September 6 at noon PDT.

The next K&N Pro Series West race is at NAPA Speedway in Sandia, New Mexico, on September 29.

Silver Crown and Midget Race Team RW Motorsports Remain Strong in 2012

RW Motorsports and their #17 Race Team are having another great year in USAC Silver Crown and Midget competition. With just a few months left, the team has already won in both series and on both asphalt and dirt. Jerry Coons, Jr., who has one multiple USAC championships, finds himself third in the Silver Crown points. Coons and teammate, Bobby Santos III, have combined to win 4 of the 6 races run in the series this season.

"As a team we are very happy with the success we have had this year," said Darr Lawson, general manager of RW Motorsports. "To be able to win on both asphalt and dirt, and with two different drivers in Silver Crown, has been great."

The USAC Midget team has fared well too. Defending National Champion Bryan Clauson, who started the Indianapolis 500 this season, is third in points, while Mario Clouser is sixth. The all-star lineup that RW Motorsports brings to each track is fairytale-like for Lawson and his team.

"We are very fortunate to have such a talented group of drivers with us. The list of accomplishments these drivers have attained in their careers is staggering. All of our drivers work very well together, and communication is key to much of our success and the communication between drivers with such experience only makes our entire project stronger."

The team also has overcome adversity this year, specifically in the Silver Crown department.

"We had some large hurdles to jump with the implementation of a new ethanol-based fuel in Silver Crown. It has taken countless hours to rebuild our engine program to get us where we are now."

The team is gearing up for the major events that traditionally fall at the end of the USAC season, starting with the 4-crown at the famed Eldora Speedway, where the team will unload at least four cars on race day. RW Motorsports will be looking to repeat their success at other major races this year, including wins at the Hoosier Hundred, as well as, at the USAC race at Iowa Speedway.

"We were able to win the Hoosier Hundred for the second-straight year with Jerry Coons, Jr. in the Silver Crown car, and it marked three-in-a-row for the team with Shane Hmiel winning the event for us in 2010. That ranked right there with the Midget event at Iowa this year where we competed with three cars and swept the podium with Bobby Santos III winning, Mario Clouser second and Brad Kuhn taking third."

K&N Filters were happy to be on the RW Motorsports cars for all of those wins.

"K&N products are the best available today when it comes to air and oil filtration,” Lawson said. "We race in an extremely dusty and dirty environment and K&N products protect our engines from the dirt while providing the performance we need."

NASCAR Whelen Modified Champion Bobby Santos Turns Fastest Lap at Stafford Speedway

There's not a thing you can do to slow Bobby Santos down. The Franklin, Massachusetts, native turned in the fastest lap of 18.205 seconds (98.874 mph) May 25th at Stafford Speedway in Stafford Springs, Connecticut, in the NASCAR Whelen Modified Tour in his #44 Imperial Cars/Tinio Corporation Chevrolet. Leading the 26-car field on Stafford's half-mile oval for over 100 laps of the 125 lap feature, Santos - of Santos Motorsports - ultimately finished second.

Following after his pole qualifier in the USAC Silver Crown series on May 19th, where Santos qualified with the third fastest time eventually winning the 100 lap feature at Lucas Oil Raceway Park in Cleremont, Indiana, Santos' 2nd place finish at Stafford marked some additional firsts, including the first time racing for a rookie team as well as racing a car with a K&N filter on this tour, making this past May's results a very pleasant surprise.

But Santos is no stranger to K&N Filters. He explained, "My first involvement with K&N was when I drove for Western Speed Racing. We had success as a team winning races together so the partnership continued on to my family team, and I also carry K&N on all other cars that I drive. This year I raced many divisions all with K&N on my fire suit and car including a NASCAR Nationwide race in Daytona, Multiple Whelan Modified Tour races, USAC National midget and Silver Crown races, and a Must see Winged Sprint car."

The career racer has been closely tied to K&N for three years, since Santos won the 2008 Turkey Night Grand Prix in a K&N sponsored midget, taking 2009's Copper World Classic in his parents' K&N sponsored, family-owned midget and winning the NASCAR Whelan Modified Tour Championship in 2010.

"I think the benefits from K&N products is that I get all my filter needs in one place. No reason to get an oil filter one place and an air cleaner another. I can get all quality products at the same time and place, which is very important to racers who are always on the go. The first time I replaced the paper air cleaner with a K&N air cleaner on my NASCAR modified this year, we went out and set the fastest time that race, so that makes me think it is worth some power also because qualifying in a modified is very motor dependable."

Concluding, Santos laughed: "Racing was a family thing before I was ever born. My grandfather was a racer and so was my dad. I was born into it. My dad had me driving a go-cart in our backyard on my own before I turned 3. From go-carts I went to quarter midgets at 4 and it has been non-stop ever since."

Ford has always built trucks that got the job done while inspiring a generation of buyers with their pickup and SUV offerings. These vehicles will transport whatever you need to get the job done and they will challenge the roughest terrain while also remaining dependable throughout their lives. This dependability and performance has been a key to Ford's success throughout the years. While these vehicles are reliable and powerful, there's more power and performance available with a simple to install K&N air intake. The K&N 57-2575 high flow performance air intake system will help the 5.4 liter V8 engine perform better by allowing it to bring in fresh cool air more easily. K&N's design with low restriction results with an increase in horsepower and torque. The oversized washable K&N air filter will also decrease your maintenance costs as you will no longer need to replace filters when they get dirty. You won't need to worry about washing it for quite a while as it can be used for up to 100,000 miles before servicing is needed depending on driving conditions. Drycharger air filter wrap (RC-5173DK) is available for particularly dirty conditions to help extend the length of time between cleanings. This wrap also helps to repel water. Air filter wraps are often used on racing vehicles in dusty Baja Series races and on vehicles that frequent extremely dusty roads.

K&N testing of the 57-2575 has shown an estimated increase in horsepower of 11 horsepower at 4600 rpm and 13.8 lb-ft of torque at 3250 rpm on a 2007 Ford Expedition with a 5.4 liter engine. Testing on a 2010 Ford F-150 with a 5.4 liter engine resulted in an estimated gain of 12.4 horsepower at 4600 RPM. Extra power for towing and extra torque for getting starting or getting up that hill is an addition welcomed by many Ford owners and K&N customers. The entire 57-2575 air intake system is also backed by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty so it should last longer than your truck or SUV.

The 57-2575 air intake system includes a custom heat shield that isolates the air filter element from the warm air generated by the engine. The air filter is placed in the path of fresh outside air. Cooler air results in better performance and power.

Installation usually takes 90 minutes or less and only uses a few simple hand tools. K&N's step by step installation instructions offer illustration and direction to make this as easy as possible. Take a look at the K&N 57-2575 Air Intake Installation Video to see how easy installation is for yourself. The video covers installation of K&N air intakes 57-2575 and 63-2575 as they are almost identical.

K&N's 57-2575 performance air intake system fits the following applications:

2010 Lincoln Navigator 5.4L V8
2010 Ford F150 SVT Raptor 5.4L V8
2010 Ford F150 5.4L V8
