K&N's Michael Lewis Earns His First Formula 3 Euro Series Victory in Valencia, Spain

Confidence is a commanding, irrefutable, intangible - it has the power to convert ordinary people into leaders - and transforming gifted racers into great champions. If someone were able to bottle self-assurance they could rule the world, but alas, like water, the tighter you squeeze hold of confidence, the faster it pours out of your hands. It's a concept some never grasp. On September 29, 2012 in Valencia, Spain K&N's Michael Lewis took yet another giant leap forward towards a lifetime courtship with confidence and greatness, as the young American inked his first win in the Formula 3 Euro Series into the history books.

"This win means so much to me," Lewis said. "It is my first in the Euro Series and I hope to capture another one during the final race weekend in Hockenheim. Many big-time racecar drivers got their start and won in the F3 Euro Series, so to be associated with them is just incredible. I must thank Prema Powerteam for all of their hard work."

After qualifying 11th for Race 1, or Round 19, of the Formula 3 Euro Series, Lewis set a goal to finish the race in at least 8th position. The top-8 finishers from the first 40-minute race are inverted for the second race, which would put him on the pole for the afternoon's 20-minute Race 2, which he accomplished, despite receiving a drive through penalty on lap 5.

"I had come so far, even with the drive-through penalty, so I dug deep and found an opening on the last lap to slip by one more car," said Lewis. "This assured me the opportunity to start up front for Round 20, which is a 14-lap sprint race."

After taking the mandatory drive through the pit area, Lewis displayed the sort of driving brilliance he's wholly capable of. Lewis worked his way back to the tail-end of the pack still on the lead lap. Then he started picking off a car every other lap up until the final lap when he was in 9th position. He needed to pass one last car, on the last lap to gain the coveted 8th position, which then positioned him on the pole for the start of Race 2.

Regarding his passing prowess a humbled Lewis remarked, "Yeah, I guess it's just my style. Wherever I race, I tend to move up and pass more cars compared to the other drivers. I can't really say as to why that is, but for sure it's a good trait to have. Plus, it's a good show for the fans."

Lewis' Prema Powerteam teammate, Sven Müller, shared the front row with him for Race 2, so the anticipation was amped-up as race fans anxiously waited to see which Prema car would come out of turn-1 in the lead. The red starting lights went out and Lewis made another strong launch as he has been doing all season long. He headed to the turn-1 left hander with a two-car advantage. The two Prema cars and drivers were clearly the class of the field, but Lewis was able to maintain the two-car gap for the 14-lap race. He led every lap and crossed the finish line 0.643 seconds ahead of Müller to record his first Formula 3 Euro Series win.

Paraphrasing Lewis from his post round 20 victory video interview, in which he remarked he understood that the start would mean everything, so he cleared his head and focused on only that. Once he nailed the start, and managed the gap by the first turn, Lewis said he just kept his head down, and he didn't even look at the pit-board until it was over.

"I am feeling quite strong heading into Hockenheim, it's a good circuit for me," said Lewis. "I am working to tweak a few things on my driving/plan and the rest, we'll see what happens. Too much confidence can hurt, so I am going to keep a level head and do what I know I can do."

The final 2012 Formula 3 Euro Series season event will take place on October 19-21, at the world-famous Hockenheimring Circuit in Baden-Württemberg, Germany.

Team Honda Austria 3rd Overall in 2012 International Austrian Supermoto Championship

Austrian Supermoto Rider Andreas Simpson Rothbauer said he had the time of his life in finishing third overall this year
Austrian Supermoto Rider Andreas Simpson Rothbauer said he had the time of his life in finishing third overall this year
The 2012 International Austrian Supermoto State Championship began in Burgenland, Austria this year and ended last weekend in Wachauring Melk, which is located in the lower part of Austria, and in between, fans were treated to 14 rounds of thrill packed racing. The throngs of Supermoto enthusiasts continued to grow once more this season, as word spread about the motorsport combining motocross and road racing skills into one exhilarating event. K&N's Team Honda Austria is one of the premier International Supermoto teams, and since their burst onto the scene, they have been one of the teams international fans root for the loudest.

Team Honda Austria (THA), the Honda Manufacture supported Supermoto team, as it's currently known, was formed in 2006. The team consists of International Supermoto stars, Florian "Superflo" Wedenig and Andreas Simpson Rothbauer. After another thoroughly compelling season of competition, the final championship points tally remained undecided until the last round at Wachauring, Melk, where Rothbauer finished the race in 6th and Wedenig finished the last contest in 3rd. And when the curtain was drawn on the 2012 Supermoto season, both K&N Team Honda Austria riders had earned enough points for the bronze medal. In the S1 Class number 99, Rothbauer, finished third overall and number 98, Wedenig, took third in the S Open Class of the International Austrian Supermoto Championship. For 20-year-old Wedenig, it was the best year end results of his young career.

Heavy rain and extreme weather changes presented problems not only with track conditions, but also with finding the correct bike set-up. It's a problem THA had practice overcoming in earlier races during the season, and one that's further complicated when you take into consideration that the races involve slick paved roads, as well as muddy dirt conditions. In 2012 Rothbauer's main focus was to put together a strong come-back of sorts, being that he's been riding with nagging injuries for the past two years. In 2010 he seriously injured his shoulder in a track related mishap and in 2011 he lost part of his season to a knee injury.

Florian "Superflo" Wedenig says he continued to get faster all season long and he's more confident than ever headed into the Austrian Supermoto 2013 season
"The last race weekend was really hard work. I wanted to finish third overall in the season so bad and knew I had to make up at least 6 points," Rothbauer remarked. "Changing weather conditions throughout practice on Saturday made the entire situation even trickier. Then suddenly on Sunday for the race, everything changed again. A lot of fans and friends came to cheer for me at the track. In the first race I had a decent start and by mid-race my toughest competitor in the championship was disqualified due to a technical defect. So all I had to do was race without any mistake, and I had the time of my life this season."

Due to the past injuries Rothbauer's goals for this year were set at a realistic level, finishing in the top-10 was all he was looking to do. Regarding that objective Rothbauer commented, "Top-10 was not that tough a goal and I would not be risking that much. After my injuries the last years I was able to enjoy this last race so much that it is even hard to describe. It was just awesome to party with fans, friends and family."

Rothbauer explains that in beginning of the season he ramped up his motivation into high-gear in order to compete in the Class S1, the strongest international class possible. "Because I would be racing against World Champions such as Uros Nastran, Tomas Travnicek," he explains. "By mid-season I knew I was doing the right thing, because I was able to stay close to the best riders and I earned my first podium, by then it was going smoothly and I just had a great time finishing the season. This is the point that I would like to thank my great sponsor K&N Filters, they have been supporting me for years. I am very thankful to compete on such high level, and I know this is something real special, and that I would not be successful without them!"

Florian Wedenig comments "The last race weekend was just as hard as it was for Andreas. I was seven points behind my main competitor for second place in the Class S Open Championship. Just as Andreas said, conditions were tricky and I am not that experienced being only 20-years-old. I just did my best and was able to grab the starting position ahead of my main competitor. I also finished both races ahead of him, but in the end it was still only enough for third overall in the end of the year results. Anyways, this was a great season. I was able to become faster throughout the season, and in August I was able to grab my first heat win ever, which I was very happy about. I am more confident than ever now for next year."

"Neither rider has yet signed any contracts or agreements for 2013, contract negotiations will start next week, and both riders are first willing to talk to Honda Austria again to in order to move their partnership forward," said team marketing spokesperson Claudia Rothbauer. All our best wishes go out to Claudia, who wasn't sure she could get through the interview as she is expecting to deliver her baby at any moment.

The Ram 3500 and Ram 2500 are two standouts in the utility and pickup truck world. They have been used in many utility positions where power, reliability, and cargo capacity are necessary. At the heart of these workhorses is the Cummins turbo-diesel engine, which provides excellent towing capacity along with 350 horsepower and 650 lb-ft of torque at the crank.

This kind of performance is excellent but that doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement. This is where the K&N 63-1562 performance air intake system comes in. It is designed to open the air intake pathways of Ram diesel trucks and allow them to breathe more easily. This leads to better horsepower and torque and an engine that roars.

The 63-1562 intake system improves performance by an estimated additional 8.2 horsepower and 14.76 lb-ft of torque to the wheels in tests on a 2011 Dodge Ram 2500 with 6.7 liter engine at 2919 RMP. The oversized K&N air filter on the air intake is washable and reusable. It has 6 layers of oiled cotton gauze for the outstanding filtration a diesel engine needs. The filter is covered and protected by an enclosed airbox and snorkel for bringing in lower outside air temperatures. Since this era of Ram can have two different bumpers depending on year and model the scoop includes a 1.5” section that can be cut out so that the snorkel will align properly with either bumper.

The 63-1562 air intake system comes with instructions and all of the hardware necessary for installation. The instructions have pictures and detailed steps making installation simple and straightforward. Additionally this air intake is covered by K&N's Million Mile Limited Warranty.

K&N has been creating air filters for more than 40 years. K&N air intake systems still follow the same basic idea. If clean filtered air flows more easily into the engine, the engine will make more power to the wheels. With meticulous detail-oriented design, constant testing and the history to back it up, K&N air intake systems deliver power with confidence and reliability.

The 63-1562 air intake system fits the following Ram diesel pickup trucks:

2012 Dodge Ram 3500 Pickup 6.7L L6 Diesel
2012 Dodge Ram 2500 Pickup 6.7L L6 Diesel

2009-2012 Can-Am Outlander/Renegade ATV's Get High Flow Performance with K&N Air Filter

Replacement Air Filter for 2009-2012 Can-Am Outlanders and Renegades
Replacement Air Filter for 2009-2012 Can-Am Outlanders and Renegades
It might be easy to envision the Bombardier Recreational Products facility to be manned my hyperkinetic joy-elves working tirelessly round the clock. That would be one explanation for how BRP's Can-Am family of off-road vehicles continually offers market leading changes and new technologies each and every year. With the 2012 model year Can-Am once again reset the ATV bar by giving the Outlander 800R some significant redesign upgrades.

Although the Outlander 800R uses the same 71-horsepower, 800cc, V-Twin engine it has for the last few years, a key part of the redesign features a new air box which has been reconfigured and positioned at a higher and more centralized location for improved air processing. The air box features a dual-room design that significantly improves the process of air getting into the engine. This is accomplished by capturing grimy air in one portion of the box, and cleaner air in another section, before any air flows into the engine. The air intake is also positioned higher up in the frame, which was designed to improve the Outlander's performance in the mucky off-road environment it was intended for.

Improving air flow and air quality is absolutely essential to superior performance and the folks at Bombardier Recreational Products have taken some noteworthy steps towards that goal. However, K&N has taken this fundamental understanding of internal combustion, and through their own determined engineering efforts, they have lifted air filtration to an art form. K&N's CM-8009 replacement air filter utilizes an adapter tube and high flow filter element that mounts directly to the Outlander or Renegade models listed below. Replacing the restrictive factory air filter with a washable and reusable K&N high-flow air filter is easy. Step-by-step installation instructions are included in the K&N box.

K&N's CM-8009 reusable air filter is designed to increase power and torque. It consists of oiled cotton gauze layered between two sheets of aluminum wire mesh, which provides exceptional filtration and outstanding air flow to help optimize performance, and to keep your Can-Am engine running clean for a very long time.

The CM-8009 air filter can hold a large amount of dirt before cleaning is necessary. The length between servicing depends on your off-road riding circumstances. When it is time for servicing K&N recommends a Recharger Filter Service Kit, which contains an industrial strength degreaser and air filter oil. Using the K&N Recharger® Kit you can restore the air flow and look of your K&N air filter so it perform like new for years down the road.

K&N CM-8009 will fit the Can-Am Outlander and Renegade models listed:
