K&N Racing Air Filter Option for Porsche 911 997 GT3 RSR Factory-Built Race Car

>K&N race air filter for the 2006-2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR

K&N race specific air filter, number 33-5008, for the 2006-2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR uses a unique pleat pattern to be less restrictive, providing high airflow & basic engine protection

The Porsche 911 GT3 was originally developed as a higher-performance version of the Porsche 911 sports car intended for racing. The GT3 was named after the FIA GT3 class it was designed to compete in. The 997 generation of the Porsche 911 GT3 has several road going variants, however the 2006-2012 RSR is a different car with reduced weight, improved handling, and increased horsepower. Often time’s road racers will remove their air filter in hopes of squeezing every ounce of power out of their car as possible. However, K&N feels that air filters are important for engine protection and can even straighten airflow for improved combustion.

K&N builds race specific air filters designed to increase airflow and reduce restriction even in comparison to standard K&N stock replacement air filters. Most K&N race specific air filters feature fewer layers of cotton gauze air filter media and fewer pleats in a unique pattern to provide basic engine protection with as little restriction as possible. K&N’s line of race specific air filters are designed for asphalt racing only. They are not intended for dirt track, off-road or highway use.

K&N race specific air filter 33-5008 for the 2006-2012 Porsche 911 GT3 RSR uses a unique pleat pattern to be less restrictive, providing high airflow, basic engine protection, and low restriction. As a result this K&N racing air filter increases horsepower and acceleration for the racetrack. The 2006, 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, and 2012 997 GT3 RSR race specific air filter will fit directly inside the original air filter box assembly. No cutting or fitting modifications are required to install this filter, but fuel management modifications may be necessary to obtain optimum performance.

K&N air filters are washable and reusable. K&N race specific air filters are warranted against defective workmanship for one year after the date of purchase with no mileage limitation.

K&N air filters for Porsche 911 models can be found on the Porsche 911 Air Filters page. K&N products for other vehicles can be found using the Vehicle Search Tool. To find a K&N dealer near you, use Search for K&N Dealer.

K&N Upgrades Fueled By The Fallen 9/11 Angels with The World’s Best Air Filter

2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS models were transformed into tributes for the victims of September 11th, 2001

Five road going 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS models were transformed into the next generation rolling tribute for the victims of the terrorist attacks of September 11th, 2001

K&N equipped five 2011 Chevy Camaro RS models built as tributes to the lives lost on September 11, 2001

K&N had the opportunity to equip five 2011 Chevy Camaro RS models built as rolling tributes to the lives lost on September 11, 2001 with American made K&N high-flow air filter technology

In 2007 Kevyn Major Howard, a Canadian born actor known for his role as “Rafterman” in the 1987 Stanley Kubrick film Full Metal Jacket, challenged himself to recall a single name from the list of casualties of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan he had recently heard on the evening news. Kevyn said “I woke up one morning and challenged myself to name just one person who has died for my freedom", he continued. "I couldn't." Kevyn decided to change that, and the result was the Fueled By The Fallen, 501(c)3 non-profit organization dedicated to supporting our Military Members, Public Safety Personnel, and their Families to aid in their emotional, physical, and financial recovery needs.

Kevyn worked with Chuck Spiker, a drag racer and former Karting champion, to create a rolling memorial that would get the attention of all Americans. "We chose race cars because you can get the attention of a two year and a ninety-two year old with one", Kevyn said. Chuck took a 1963 Nova and created a 10 second quarter mile door slammer drag car representing fallen Marines from Iraq and Afghanistan. "Maybe I can get people who look upon the race car to remember just one name. If I can do that, I have accomplished my mission," Kevyn continued.

That first 1963 Nova drag car memorial only represented a small fraction of the fallen military members that Kevyn wanted to commemorate, which meant he would need more cars. The memorial expanded to include a 1966 Chevy Nova commemorating the names of another 174 fallen Marines from Iraq and Afghanistan. There is a 1970 Dodge Challenger R/T which features the names of 99 fallen Air Force personnel from Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as a 1992 Ford Mustang LX Fox Body featuring names of fallen Army personnel from Iraq and Afghanistan. Additionally there is the Navy "USS Enterprise" Tribute Nitro Funny Car, and a Ford Crown Victoria "National Law Enforcement Memorial" Cruiser.

As the 10 anniversary of the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001 approached Kevyn Major Howard decided to take his rolling memorial idea to the next level. It was decided that five road going 2011 Chevrolet Camaro RS models would be transformed into the next generation rolling tribute. This time, however, Fueled By The Fallen would keep these cars licensed and registered for the street in an effort to reach a larger audience. The results have been nothing short of amazing, and on the 10th anniversary of 9/11 the Angels Cruisers were unveiled on the lawn of the U.S. Capitol.

During its travels Fueled By The Fallen has had the opportunity of interacting with celebrities Jay Leno, Danny Trejo, Ann-Margret, and even former U.S. President George H. W. Bush Sr.

Each of the 9/11 Angels Cruisers is numbered from 1 to 5 and serves to remind future generations of the lives lost on that fateful day of September 11th, 2001. Angel 1 has the names of ground zero first responders, Angels 2 and 3 features the names of the lives lost in the World Trade Center towers, Angel 4 lists the names of victims at the Pentagon, and Angel 5 represents the names of the lives lost on the four high-jacked airplanes. The Angels series 9/11 tribute cars have become so meaningful that Kevyn and the Fueled By The Fallen team have been invited to appear at the foot of America’s most iconic symbol of freedom, the Statue of Liberty. During its travels Fueled By The Fallen has had the opportunity of interacting with celebrities Jay Leno, Danny Trejo, Ann-Margret, Gary Sinise and even to former President George H. W. Bush Senior’s summer home in Kennebunkport, Maine.

As Kevyn Major Howard has said “I have had a blessed life. I have had the opportunity as an actor to work with such greats as Clint Eastwood, Frank Sinatra, Charles Bronson, Stanley Kubrick and many others. It is my privilege and honor to fight for the financial assistance our American heroes need.” K&N is proud to have helped The Fueled By The Fallen organization and hopes that they will enjoy the long service intervals and increased performance associated with a K&N air filter during their travels. For 2015 Kevyn hopes to organize a procession of motorcycles led by the 9/11 Angels Cruisers from Los Angeles, California to Sturgis, South Dakota in time to kick off the 75th Annual Sturgis Motorcycle Rally August 3-9, 2015. While supplying the five Fueled By The Fallen 9/11 Angels Camaros with K&N performance air filter 33-2434 is a simple gesture, K&N hopes that as Kevyn Major Howard and the Fueled By The Fallen team travel the country the effect these rolling tributes can have will snowball into something larger.

Upgrade 3.6L Pentastar Ram 1500 Models with More Performance from K&N Air Intake

2013-2014 Ram 1500 3.6L Pentastar produces horsepower with K&N intake

The technologies incorporated into the 2013-2014 Ram 1500 3.6L Pentastar V6, helps this V6 engine produce more horsepower than larger V8 engines from just a few years ago

While the fourth generation Ram 1500 pickup, formerly referred to as the Dodge Ram 1500, has been in production since 2008 it wasn’t until the 2013 model year that the Ram received the increasingly popular corporate engine known as the 3.6L Pentastar V6. The 3.6L Pentastar V6 engine has found its way into several Dodge, Chrysler, Ram, and Fiat models as well as the Volkswagen Routan minivan. Horsepower ratings vary from model to model, however the Dodge Ram 1500 has received the most highly tuned version rated at 305 horsepower and 269 lb-ft of torque.

2013-2014 Dodge Ram 1500 3.6L K&N cold air intake system

The aluminum air intake tube of the 2013-2014 Dodge Ram 1500 3.6L intake system combined with the superior airflow and superior performance of a K&N air filter can free up horsepower and torque

The technologies incorporated into the 3.6L Pentastar V6, such as dual overhead camshafts with dual variable valve timing, and all aluminum construction help this V6 engine produce more horsepower than the larger V8 engines of just a few years ago. Combine the power and technology of the 3.6L Pentastar V6 with an 8-speed Torqueflite8 automatic transmission and the 2013-2014 Ram 1500 3.6L boasts best in class EPA estimated fuel efficiency.

Ram 1500 engineers are required to work within a strict set of parameters, which is why aftermarket companies like K&N air filters are able to step in to upgrade horsepower and performance for some of the most advanced vehicles on the road. By replacing the restrictive factory air filter box and disposable air filter with a K&N air intake system your engine is able to breathe easier which frees up more horsepower and torque. Most K&N air intake systems can be easily installed in about 90 minutes with basic hand tools and can provide one of the best horsepower bangs for the buck.

K&N Ram 1500 3.6L air intake system dyno tested to reveal increased horsepower

K&N Ram 1500 3.6L air intake system, number 77-1564KS, was installed on a stock 2014 Ram 1500 3.6L pickup truck and dyno tested to reveal increased horsepower and torque

The mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube of the 2013-2014 Dodge Ram 1500 3.6L air intake system features a smooth inner surface and is designed to straighten airflow and reduce turbulence. The silver powder coated aluminum air intake tube combined with the superior airflow and superior performance of an oversized K&N air filter considerably reduces air intake tract restriction. Additionally, the K&N 2013-2014 Dodge Ram 1500 3.6L air intake system incorporates a vehicle specific heat shield and air intake scoop. The black powder coated heat shield serves to deflect engine eat from entering the air filter while the incorporated air intake scoop directs cooler outside air from the 2013-2014 Ram 1500’s stock air inlet.

After Over 20 Years of Heartbreak Steve Williams Gets Wally for NHRA Win at Pomona

Steve Williams, K&N’s Chief Engineering Officer, pilots two cars in the NHRA Sportsman classes including this 1963 Chevrolet Corvette bodied Super Gas roadster & a TNT Super Comp dragster

Steve Williams, who serves as Chief Engineering Officer for K&N Engineering, Inc. in Riverside, California has been racing drag cars for over 25 years. During this time Williams has earned four NHRA Division 7 championship titles and has amassed over 40 “Wally” trophies. Eight of those trophies had been for national single-event wins. However, during the last 25 years Steve Williams has had a string of bad luck when it comes to racing at his home track, and the birthplace of NHRA drag racing in Pomona, California. “I’ve had the worst luck at Pomona over the last 20 years, but this weekend the car was flawless,” said Williams.

Steve Williams lined up against Hollis Colleasure in the final round of Super Gas competition at the 55th annual Circle K Winternationals held at the The Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, California. This race signaled the beginning of the 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series. Williams was behind the wheel of his 1963 Chevrolet Corvette bodied Super Gas roadster taking on Colleasure and his 1927 Ford. The starting light, nicknamed the Christmas Tree, signals the beginning of the race by lighting a series of colored bulbs and varies in length to keep drivers on their toes. According to Williams “It was a long tree with a lot of glare, making it hard to see the lights.” Steve’s bad luck streak was broken when his opponent Colleasure left the line too early, triggering the red light, and handing the win over to Williams.

Steve Williams couldn’t believe it when he saw his win light come on at the end of the track and he was ecstatic to get his first win at the famed Pomona race track in front of friends & family

Steve couldn’t believe it when he saw his win light come on at the end of the track. He was ecstatic, not only because it was his first win at the famed Pomona race track, but also because all his friends and family were there to see him win. Steve isn’t able to take his wife and daughter with him to all the NHRA races, so he was happy to have finally won on his home turf. Williams is 59 years old and admitted he won’t have too many more races. “If I had retired from racing without winning at Pomona, I would have always had regrets,” said Williams. “I can finally cross that one off the bucket list.”

Steve Williams runs a second race car; a TNT Race Cars built dragster, in the Super Comp class. Williams was doing well in the Super Comp class but was ultimately beaten in the fourth round by Guy Aguayo, who got a quicker start. Steve is quick to admit that he couldn’t be an accomplished drag racer, head of R&D for K&N Filters, and a family man without tremendous support from a great group of people he surrounds himself with. “None of this would be possible without the support of my wife, my daughter Shelby, and my crew,” said Williams.

Steve has gotten his 2015 NHRA Mello Yello Drag Racing Series season off to a terrific start with his win during the Circle K Winternationals held at the The Auto Club Raceway at Pomona, California. Hopefully this win signals more great things to come in the 2015 NHRA race season.
