K&N sponsored driver RJ Anderson kicked off his Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) 2015 season the weekend of March 7-8, 2015 in Lake Elsinore, California. Excitement peaked going into the RJ’s first race weekend of the year but the 2015 season began months ago for the RJ37 Team. Never has Anderson worked so hard to prepare for a season. Countless hours of testing and prep went into the #37 Pro2 & Pro-Lite trucks in support of this year’s championship quest.

A new look was unveiled to the public in front of RJ’s home crowd not far from K&N headquarters in Riverside, California. A fresh red & white graphics scheme inspired by 2014’s look and RJ’s Polaris RZR viral video series XP1K, now adorns the 2015 #37 Pro2 & Pro-Lite trucks. With this fresh look came a new level of confidence both in the team and RJ himself. 2014 was challenging as RJ Anderson, then only 21 years old, ran his 2 truck program for the first time all on his own. Combine that with 2014 being RJ’s rookie season in the elite Pro2 class and you have enough pressure to break even the most seasoned racer. RJ battled all year long in 2014 to prove himself as a team owner and learning as much as he could as a driver in a new division.

For 2015 RJ and the RJ37 team are all about results and during the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) weekend in Lake Elsinore, California RJ proved that he is back and will be a force in both divisions all year long. RJ earned 2 podiums in the Pro-Lite division putting his K&N air filters supported #37 LoanMart, Walker Evans Racing, and South Point Pro-Lite truck on the box in 3rd place for both rounds. The former Pro-Lite champion came out and showed that he and his team are coming to reclaim their championship title.

RJ’s weekend of Pro2 racing would present some challenges, however he and the RJ37 team never gave up. Qualifying ended when a collision destroyed the Pro2 truck’s driver’s side front-end. The K&N sponsored RJ37 team would have to completely rebuild the front end before the evening’s race. The poor qualifying forced RJ to begin the race from 14th place. However, when the green flag dropped RJ sprinted to the front of the field battling for 2nd place before contact sent him out of podium contention and to the back of the pack. Despite a disappointing 13th place finish, RJ was the fastest truck on the track until race winner, and fellow K&N sponsored driver, Bryce Menzies would narrowly surpass his lap time late in the race. With the second fastest lap in Pro2, RJ had high spirits as he and the team prepped for Saturday’s Round 2 event.

On Saturday K&N sponsored driver RJ Anderson qualified 7th putting him in the middle of the herd as the green flag waived and racers fired off onto the track. RJ was once again one of the faster racers on the track and made quick work passing as many trucks as he could. As RJ reached the top 3, he, Jeremy McGrath, and Patrick Clark battled three-wide down the front straight away. Mid-air contact between RJ and Patrick Clark sent the #37 Polaris RZR Pro2 sideways and into a violent 360 spin as it landed. RJ remained on the throttle and after being tagged by a couple of trucks found himself back on course and still running. The yellow flag waived putting RJ into 4th where he would remain despite a last minute push to overtake McGrath for the 3rd position.

After the second Pro2 race RJ rolled back to the RJ37 pits where he was greeted by his team and fans who were riding high both on the weekend’s performance but more so on the promise of success for the remainder of the 2015 season. One thing RJ Anderson and the RJ37 Team never have to worry about is the superior airflow and superior performance their trucks receive from K&N filters. Significant changes were made to the 2015 and 2016 Silverado 2500 HD / 3500 and its mechanical twin the GMC Sierra HD models to improve interior comfort as well as improving ride quality. The 14-inch round, by 3-inch high air cleaner assembly has been the go-to performance filter choice for carbureted race car, hot rod, muscle car and pickup truck owners for years. This isn’t mere coincidence as K&N’s airflow bench testing has shown that with a typical two and four barrel automotive carburetor, airflow is greater when the diameter of the air filter is large in comparison to its height. This means that an air filter that is 10" in diameter and 2" high will generally flow more air than an air filter which is 5" in diameter and 4" high. If space permits, you should choose an air filter where the height of the air filter is between 1/5 and 1/4 of the air filter's diameter.

While a 14” round by 3” high air cleaner assembly might be the most common, it might not always work with every intake manifold, carburetor, and hood combination out there. This is why K&N air filters, a leader in performance filter technology, offers air cleaner assemblies in multiple diameters which are compatible with air filters in many different heights. Lightweight K&N spun aluminum air cleaner top and base kits, available in 14” or 16” diameters, are compatible with 5-1/8” mounting flange carburetors and feature a drop base plate which drops the base of the air filter 1-1/2 inches below the carb flange. The drop base design helps to maximize air filter height while still clearing the hood in many custom hot rod, muscle car, or race car applications. Jake Andreotti is only 12-years-old and in just his second Super 600 Micro Sprint Car race he has successfully beaten seasoned professional World of Outlaws racers on a 1/7th mile dirt oval to the checkered flag. The recent pre-season Super 600 Special at Delta Speedway exhibition race pitted an all-star roster of professional drivers in borrowed Super 600 Micro Sprint cars against some of Delta Speedway’s fastest up and comers. Noteworthy entries in the Super 600 Special at Delta Speedway in Stockton, California included World of Outlaws points leader Shane Stewart, Turkey Bowl winner Colby Copeland, and even USAC National Champion Bryan Clauson. Two of the most anticipated Pro drivers, Michael Faccinto and David Gravel, each had problems that forced them to throw in the towel.

Jake Andreotti qualified well for the evening’s heat races managing to qualify in the top ten. Andreotti was placed into a stacked heat race which included both Shane Stewart and Bryan Clauson. Andreotti managed to hold the two professional racers off and took the checkers in his 10-lap heat race. Jake’s impressive finish in the heat race gave him a much needed boost in confidence as he prepared to go head to head with these same drivers in the 30-lap main event.

22 cars started the Super 600 30-lap feature. Jake Andreotti started on the pole and led lap one in a good start for the rookie. Andreotti hit lapped traffic on lap nine which allowed eventual race winner Jake Hagopian to sweep by on the outside and take the lead. Hagopian went on for a 1.7 second win ahead of Jake Andreotti, followed by Bryan Clauson, Shane Stewart, and Colby Copeland to round out the top five. "I gotta thank the Conde family for having me down here and putting on this race. Delta Speedway is a great thing and it is building every day. I love racing here. (I) got out front early and tried to minimize mistakes," Hagopian said. "Jake (Andreotti) got going pretty good. He's going to be real fast this year and someone to watch for sure!"

Jake Andreotti may not have crossed the finish line first; however he fought very hard and with an amazing level of confidence. Knowing that more experienced professional racers are hot on your tail could shake even the most seasoned racer. Jake Andreotti can also boast the fastest lap time of the evening making a full loop of the track in 10.508 seconds at 63.380 miles per hour. After the race Andreotti said the night was “very fun and a memorable challenge.”
