Superior Performance Air Filter for 2014-2016 Yamaha MT-07 & FZ-07 Twin from K&N

K&N high-flow air filter for 2014-2015 Yamaha parallel twin MT-07 & FZ-07 models

K&N high-flow air filter number YA-6814 is engineered to increase airflow while also fitting inside the stock air filter box of 2014-2016 Yamaha parallel twin MT-07 & FZ-07 models

The Yamaha MT-07, or FZ-07 as it is called in the United States, is a significant new model in the Yamaha Motor Company’s vehicle line up. The 689cc parallel twin cylinder engine powered naked sport bike was released just after the MT-09 / FZ-09 triple. Yamaha Product Planning manager Oliver Grill said the MT-07 / FZ-07 was designed to "Make the intuitive side of riding more fun." Grill went on to explain “The bike is more casual, feels cool also at lower speeds. Yet any speed, any gear, if you open up the throttle you will immediately feel the power delivery and enjoy the sound." The MT-07 / FZ-09 power delivery is attributed to the inline twin engine's crankshaft designed with a 270 degree offset. The two cylinders fire at an irregular interval in order to harmonize the engine, resulting in a more immediate response and feeling of torquiness for the rider.

Here to help boost horsepower, torque, and throttle response of the 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha parallel twin MT-07 & FZ-07 models is a world famous reusable air filter from K&N. The superior airflow offered by a K&N motorcycle replacement air filter can result in superior performance. A K&N washable air filter is different from the stock filter in that K&N uses cotton gauze filter media woven to exacting specifications. Cotton, by nature, is more breathable than the paper or foam media used for most motorcycle air filters. Getting more air into your engine with less restriction can increase performance, acceleration, and throttle response.

K&N replacement air filters are designed to hit that sweet spot of superior airflow

K&N replacement air filters are designed to hit that “sweet spot” of superior airflow and superior performance without sacrificing filtration or engine protection

Additionally, the pleated design, combined with the depth loading nature of K&N cotton gauze air filters allows for increased air filter service intervals. A K&N cotton gauze air filter is designed to be repeatedly washed and reused with one of the K&N Recharger air filter service kits. Recharger, 99-5000, includes 12 fluid ounces of air filter cleaner and a 6.5 ounce aerosol bottle of air filter oil for quick and easy application. Recharger, 99-5050, differs in that it includes an 8 ounce squeeze bottle of K&N filter oil for a more precise application.

K&N replacement air filters are designed to hit that “sweet spot” of superior airflow and superior performance without sacrificing filtration or engine protection. K&N performs filtration efficiency testing following the internationally recognized ISO 5011 protocol to guarantee that our air filters will provide high airflow without sacrificing engine protection. K&N 2014-2016 Yamaha MT-07 and FZ-07 replacement air filter, number YA-6814, was shown to have a 99.40% overall filtration efficiency rating while still flowing more air and holding more dirt than the original equipment air filter. K&N has made these results available by clicking on the Air Filter Test Data link.

Part number YA-6814 for 2014, 2015 and 2016 Yamaha MT-07 & FZ-07 parallel twin 689cc models is backed by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty. This means that Yamaha MT-07 & FZ-07 parallel twin owners can years of increased performance, reusability, and long air filter service intervals when using K&N washable and reusable replacement air filter YA-6814.

Eight 2015 NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge sweepstakes finalists were randomly paired with professional NHRA Pro-Stock drivers who earned their way into the Horsepower Challenge

For the last six years K&N air filters has run a sweepstakes in which eight finalists are chosen at random and awarded a Prize Trip Package to include travel expenses and hotel accommodations for two in Las Vegas, Nevada. At the event each finalist is randomly paired with one of the eight K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge professional NHRA Pro-Stock drivers. A grand prize winner is determined based upon the finalist who is paired with the professional NHRA Pro-Stock driver that finishes first in the K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge. The eight finalists selected for the 2015 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge Sweepstakes came from all around the country to try their luck at winning the 2015 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge edition Toyota Tacoma equipped with genuine TRD parts.

The eight 2015 finalists were randomly paired with professional NHRA Pro-Stock drivers who earned their way into the 2015 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge. James Conner of Cocoa, Florida was feeling pretty good about his chances of winning the Tacoma after being paired with number one qualifier Shane Gray. David Mangrum of Houma, Louisiana found himself paired with number 2 qualifier Summit Racing Equipment Chevy Camaro Pro Stock driver Jason Line. Number 3 qualifier and 2014 NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge champion Erica Enders-Stevens was matched with Frank Savarese of Fort Wayne, Indiana. Donald Neufeld selected Allen Johnson; Chris Skram was paired with Vincent Nobile, and Erwin “Dan” Michael of Leander, Texas partnered up with Chris McGaha. Alicia Burton-Palmer, a mother of six from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma was paired with number 7 qualifier Jonathan Gray. Professional NHRA Pro-Stock driver V. Gaines was selected by fan vote to fill the 8th spot in the 2015 NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge. Gaines, who promised to donate the $50,000 purse to the Wounded Warriors Project, teamed up with Wayne Reid who had recently moved to Las Vegas, Nevada.

The 2015 NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge was officially underway following an on-track ceremony presenting the NHRA Horsepower Challenge drivers and sweepstakes finalists to the audience watching from the stands. The winning driver and new owner of the TRD parts equipped Toyota Tacoma would be decided in just three rounds. The first round of eliminations saw Shane Gray lined up against V. Gaines, Allen Johnson taking on Vincent Nobile, Jason Line Vs. Jonathan Gray, and last, but not least, Erica Enders-Stevens battling Chris McGaha. Shane Gray, Vincent Nobile, Jason Line, and Erica Enders-Stevens were successful in the first round and would proceed to the semi-finals.

Wayne Reid, a tow truck owner/operator who recently moved to Las Vegas, Nevada was out of contention when his driver V. Gaines was eliminated. Wayne had found out about the 2015 NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge through Facebook and was excited to have been a finalist paired with the underdog V. Gaines. Donald Neufeld was pleased with how well organized the sweepstakes was despite having been eliminated in the first round when his driver, Allen Johnson, lost to Vincent Nobile. Alicia Burton-Palmer and her husband were pleased just to have won a trip to Las Vegas, Nevada. This was only the second time the Broken Arrow, Oklahoma couple had been on vacation without their children in 19 years. Chris McGaha was also eliminated in the first round but his partnered finalist the man with three first names Erwin “Dan” Michael from Leander, Texas, wasn’t upset. Since the moment Dan got a cell phone call while at the grocery store telling him he was a finalist, Dan had been walking on cloud nine.

There was a lull of approximately three hours between the NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge first round of eliminations and the semi-finals. As the finalists waited, the excitement grew and so did their nerves. One finalist jokingly asked the others if they had a pair of adult diapers he could have. James Conner of Cocoa, Florida and Chris Skram of Aurora, Colorado were perfect strangers before the 2015 NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge. The two finalists had formed a friendship during the course of the event and according to James Conner their new friendship would be “tested” as their drivers were going head to head in the Semis. Chris Skram, still in awe of the whole event couldn’t think of a better way to describe his feelings about the race other than “Cool”. David Mangrum was calm and collected knowing that his driver, Jason Line, was going to face 2014 K&N NHRA Horsepower Challenge winner and reigning National Champion Erica Enders-Stevens. David’s wife Patti wasn’t holding up nearly as well. Frank Savarese and his girlfriend Karen were nervous, but found comfort in being paired up with Erica Enders-Stevens.

At around 4 pm the finalists were once again trackside for the 2015 NHRA Horsepower Challenge semi-finals. Both pairs of finalists stood atop a platform right behind the starting line with possibly the best view of the race. New friends James Conner and Chris Skram shook hands before their race, and despite Vincent Nobile eliminating Shane Gray, the two finalists remained on good terms. David Mangrum, who remained cool as a cucumber, watched as Erica Enders-Stevens got the win over Jason Line and took Frank Savarese to the finals with her. It’s probably a good thing the final round of the 2015 NHRA Horsepower Challenge was held less than an hour after the semi-finals. With little time to spare the K&N crew and the remaining finalist rushed down to the end of the track to await their drivers post haste. Both remaining finalists were visibly nervous and even their guests were figuratively shaking in their boots. At one point Chris’ wife Alice and Frank’s girlfriend Karen were seen rocking back and forth next to each other.

Positioned at the end of the track Chris Skram and Frank Savarese watched Vincent Nobile and Erica Enders-Stevens line up for the final time via a remote television screen. Both contestants had an excellent chance of going home with a new Toyota Tacoma, but it was also painful knowing they had a equally good chance of going home empty handed. The agony of waiting ended about 6.5 seconds later as Frank Savarese watched Erica-Enders Stevens cross the finish line ahead of Vincent Nobile in the NAPA Auto Parts Chevy Camaro Pro-Stock car. Emotions were high when Enders-Stevens stopped her car at the top of the track. She hopped out of Elite Motorsports Chevrolet and received praise from all around including Vincent Nobile. Frank Savarese and Erica Ender-Stevens traded a hug as she stepped out of the car and the K&N crew was on hand to congratulate her with a check for $50,000 and her second NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge trophy.

Fans cheered as the procession of Elite Motorsports team members, K&N representatives, and Frank Savarese, the winner of a new Toyota Tacoma, made the trip down return road. Enders-Stevens and the Elite Motorsports crew were all smiles as they posed for photos in Victory Lane. Frank was overwhelmed by all the excitement and couldn’t help but wear a grin spanning from one ear to the other. When asked how he and his girlfriend Karen would celebrate, Frank said they were going gambling before their luck ran out. This was Karen’s first trip to Las Vegas, Nevada and according to Frank “she is going to think this happens every time you come to Vegas.” Enders-Stevens had a well-rounded weekend, doubling up on victories by winning the SummitRacing.com Nationals on Sunday and the NHRA K&N Horsepower Challenge. She is the first driver to sweep both events in consecutive seasons since Bob Glidden accomplished the feat in 1987 and 1988. She pocketed $50,000 for winning the specialty event and an extra $25,000 for doubling up.

Caitlin Clement, Series and Track Support Manager for K&N Engineering, was pleased with the event and outcome as well. “K&N’s involvement with the Horsepower Challenge has been a tremendous experience,” said Clement. “K&N is proud to be a part of this unique, specialty race. The combination of the ultimate Pro Stock shootout and an incredible fan experience makes this such a great event. Without our friends over at Toyota Racing, this would not be the once-in-a-lifetime experience that it is. We’d like to thank Toyota Racing for providing the 2015 K&N Horsepower Challenge Toyota Tacoma, a truly special truck that any fan would be lucky to own."

"We want to commend all eight drivers for putting on a great show and congratulate Erica Enders-Stevens on her second win. Erica will certainly enjoy her bragging rights and Frank will undoubtedly enjoy cruising around like a celebrity in that beautiful Toyota Tacoma. All in all, the 2015 K&N Horsepower Challenge was a phenomenal event, and we are already working to make next year’s edition even better.”

Volkswagen & Audi Owners Breathe Clean Air and Save Money with K&N Cabin Air Filter

K&N replacement cabin air filter for 2005-2015 VW and Audi models

K&N replacement cabin air filter for many 2005-2015 VW and Audi models includes a new K&N cabin air filter gasket

Many Volkswagen and Audi owners do not realize their car is equipped with a cabin air filter, let alone the importance of changing it. A dirty or clogged cabin air filter can be the source of musty odors inside the vehicle while also impeding airflow into the passenger compartment causing heating or air conditioning problems. Replacing a cabin air filter is a simple, but important, piece of preventative maintenance that helps protect passengers and the vehicle’s heating and air conditioning system. K&N washable and reusable cabin air filter VF3013 is designed as an exact replacement cabin air filter for many 2005-2015 Audi and Volkswagen cars, including the Beetle, CC, Jetta, Passat, Golf, TT, and A3 models. This K&N replacement cabin air filter will also fit select Seat Leon models.

K&N cabin air filters trap dust, pollen, debris and pollutants as well as help control mold, mildew, spores, fungus, bacteria and germs

K&N cabin air filters trap dust, pollen, debris and pollutants as well as help control mold, mildew, spores, fungus, bacteria and germs to provide clean air for the driver and passengers

K&N washable/reusable cabin air filter, number VF3013, can be installed in the cabin air filter housing below the passenger side dashboard of many Audi and Volkswagen models in a matter of minutes by removing a few screws. K&N Cabin Air Filters are designed to meet factory filtration requirements and typically flow more air than the average disposable paper cabin air filter. K&N washable and reusable cabin air filters use a single layer of thermally bonded nonwoven synthetic material as a physical barrier to trap dust, pollen, leaves and other debris. With the aid of K&N’s Refresher spray, an electrostatic charge is able to help capture many types of mold, mildew, spores, fungus, bacteria and germs while helping to control odors.

K&N Cabin Air Filters can be cleaned in a few simple steps with the K&N Refresher Kit 99-6000

K&N Cabin Air Filters can be cleaned in a few simple steps with the K&N Refresher Kit 99-6000; not to be confused with K&N’s traditional Recharger kit

K&N Cabin Air Filters are built with molded urethane and wire screen ensuring long life, and the ability to be cleaned repeatedly. K&N Cabin Air Filters allow owners to clean their filter as often as necessary without incurring the cost of buying disposable filters over and over again. This is excellent news for allergy sufferers, those with breathing difficulties, or vehicles operated in dirtier than normal environments. K&N recommends servicing its washable cabin air filters every 12 months or 12,000 miles. K&N Cabin Air Filters can be cleaned in a few simple steps with the K&N Refresher Kit 99-6000.

A K&N washable and reusable automotive cabin air filter is the first of its kind. The ability to clean and reuse a cabin air filter is currently an exclusive feature offered by K&N in the U.S. automotive market segment. Over time a K&N washable / reusable Cabin Air Filter will save 2005-2015 Volkswagen and Audi owners money when compared to purchasing disposable filters time and again. K&N is so confident in its cabin air filters that they are covered by a 10-year/100,000 mile limited warranty.

From Motorcycle Racing to Retirement Gary Whitehead is a Lifelong K&N Filters Fan

K&N was formed by Ken Johnson and Norm McDonald in the early 1960’s. The duo ran a motorcycle dealership selling Yamaha and Indian motorcycles as well as their own line of motorcycle accessories. Ken and Norm were avid motorcycle racers and they channeled their passion for the sport into a rather large K&N race team. In those early days K&N helped foster the careers of many influential names in the world of motorcycle racing including 3-time world grand prix champion Kenny Roberts, and the legendary star of Bruce Brown’s On Any Sunday, Malcolm Smith.

Gary Whitehead was an aspiring motorcycle racer in the early days of motocross. He began racing at just 10-years-old on a 50cc Honda C110 motorcycle in 1963. At that time Gary did most of his racing at the famed Perris Raceway and Prado Park; home-turf of the K&N racing team. In 1969 Gary looked to the K&N motorcycle dealership when he decided to step up to a new 250cc Yamaha DT-1 motorcycle. At its introduction in 1968 the Yamaha DT-1 almost single handedly defined a new market for off-road motorcycles and K&N, one of the oldest Yamaha dealers in the nation, was perfectly situated in Southern California’s hot bed of motorcycle racing.

Gary Whitehead’s passion for performance never waned despite his technology focused career

Gary Whitehead’s passion for performance never waned despite his technology focused career and in 1991 he decided to build a kit car based around a 1933 Ford Victoria

As Gary says, he began racing in the very early days of motocross. Early motocross tracks were composed of natural terrain, unprepared, and marked out across the terrain of the area. Many times motocross tracks went through grass fields and narrow cow trails. The now fabled Saddleback and Carlsbad tracks of the area were just beginning to emerge. It was also during this time that K&N invented the high-flow washable and reusable K&N air filter to meet the air filtration needs of early motocross and desert racing pioneers. Gary Whitehead was invited to be a K&N racing team member in 1969 and used one of the earliest K&N air filters in his 1969 Yamaha DT-1. Gary described the filter as being housed in a gold colored round aluminum case that replaced the factory Yamaha unit.

After racing the DT-1, Gary Whitehead moved on to a 1970 Husqvarna (Husky); also purchased from the K&N dealership. Unfortunately Gary’s serious racing efforts were put to an end in 1971 when he broke his leg at Saddleback Motocross Park. However, it seems as if Gary was always on the verge of new and promising industries. After attending college Gary entered the computer industry. He spent the last 19 years of his career as a Chief Information Officer before retiring in July of 2014. According to Gary, “Retirement has been fun. I bought a street bike and ride at least twice a week. I also take my street rod out on the weekends.”

The filters work well and are easy to maintain. The hot rod, like the motorcycles, has a K&N air filter.

Gary’s passion for performance never waned despite his technology focused career. In 1991 he decided to build a kit car based around a 1933 Ford Victoria. The body, frame, and interior pieces came from a now defunct company based in Florida. Gary gathered the engine, transmission, suspension, steering and all the other pieces from junk yards or parts stores. It took him about 6 months to build the car and get it on the road. He’s been driving it around town ever since. “I enjoy driving the car and the people involved in the hot rod community are fun to be around,” said Gary. He has also remained a loyal K&N fan through the years. Of K&N Gary commented “The filters work well and are easy to maintain. The hot rod, like the motorcycles, has a K&N air filter.”

The K&N brand has stood for performance for over 45 years. K&N offers performance motorcycle air filters, motorcycle air intake systems, and high-flow motorcycle oil filters.
