K&N Air Intake System is An Excellent 2.4L Hyundai Santa Fe Sport Performance Upgrade

The 2013-2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport can receive improved performance with the superior airflow and performance

The 2013, 2014, and 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L can receive improved performance with the superior airflow and superior performance of a K&N Air Intake System

The need for fuel efficiency and passenger space has made the cross over SUV market an intense battle ground amongst the major automobile manufacturers. The Hyundai Santa Fe Sport has an advantage over the competition with low base model pricing as well as an EPA estimated 27 highway MPG. However, the 5-passenger 2013, 2014, and 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport comes standard with a 2.4L GDI direct injection naturally aspirated four cylinder engine. The 2.4L engine is rated at 190 horsepower and 181 lb-ft of torque, which isn’t bad. Yet it fails to live up to the Santa Fe Sport performance standard set by the Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.0T engine. This has led many 2013-2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L owners to search for an affordable way to boost performance and improve throttle response.

Roto-molded air intake tubes allow K&N the most freedom of design and offer OE fit and finish

Roto-molded air intake tubes, like the one used in the 2013-2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L air intake system, allow K&N the most freedom of design and offer OE fit and finish

K&N engineers decided to free up some Hyundai Santa Fe Sport horsepower by reducing restriction and turbulent airflow, while also maximizing the amount of air available to the 2.4L GDI engine. Boosting performance of 2013-2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L models is accomplished by replacing restrictive factory intake ducting and the enclosed air filter box with a free-flowing, molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE) air intake tube and an oversized open K&N high-flow air filter element. A K&N air intake system, like number 63-5301 for Santa Fe Sport 2.4L models, is able to minimize restriction, straighten airflow, and increase the amount of airflow available to the engine. More air and less restriction means more usable power throughout the engine’s RPM range by allowing the engine to work more efficiently.

The K&N RU-4600 over-sized reusable air filter is fitted to the inlet of the K&N roto-molded air intake tube to provide superior airflow and superior performance without sacrificing engine protection. The filter is washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. The K&N air intake 63-5301 for 2013, 2014, and 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L models incorporates an application specific air filter heat shield which serves to deflect engine heat away from the K&N air filter. Keeping engine heat away from the K&N air filter helps to keep inlet air temperature (IAT) readings within factory specifications as well as promoting more efficient combustion.

K&N Air Intake System 63-5301 produced additional horsepower on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L for better acceleration

K&N Air Intake System, number 63-5301, produced additional horsepower and torque on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L for better acceleration and improved drivability

The 63-5301 performance air intake system is an easy to install performance upgrade that can be installed in about 90 minutes or less using basic hand tools. By following K&N’s simple step-by-step instructions owners of 2013-2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L models can experience increased performance while still being able to brag about their crossover SUV’s sticker price. On the dyno, when installed on a 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L, the K&N 63-5301 Performance Air Intake System produced an estimated additional 3.68 horsepower at 5591 rpm and an estimated increase of 3.78 lb-ft of torque at 4794 rpm. What a dyno does not measure, is the quicker acceleration, better throttle response, improved drivability, or sportier engine sound that comes from installing a K&N air intake system.

The K&N 2013, 2014, and 2015 Hyundai Santa Fe Sport 2.4L air intake system, number 63-5301, maintains all necessary factory connections and does not require any additional modifications to experience a boost in performance. K&N backs its air filters and air intake systems with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty so Hyundai Santa Fe Sport owners can rest assured that their intake system will provide improved performance for years to come.

Performance Air Intake System 63-5301 is guaranteed to provide an increase in horsepower and torque on the Hyundai Santa Fe models below:

2015 HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2.4L L4
2014 HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2.4L L4
2013 HYUNDAI SANTA FE 2.4L L4

In 2009, Rock River Powersports’ owner Mike DuClos felt helpless when his first supported rider made the transition to the pro ranks with little to no support of his race program. The Rock River Racing pro team was quickly formed in order to provide a stepping stone for amateur riders that were moving up into the professional ranks. The team partnered with Yamaha Motor USA to support its own riders and to provide trackside services at all professional events. After multiple years of success and increased notoriety in the motocross industry, CycleTrader.com joined the team in November of 2013 as the official title sponsor. Thanks to the addition of CycleTrader to the Rock River Racing program, the team underwent a branding overhaul and positioned themselves as an important entity in the world of supercross and motocross racing. The Rock River Powersports team has relied on the superior airflow and superior performance of K&N air and oil filters since 2010.

Supercross (SX) is a form of dirt bike racing that can trace its roots to the sport of motocross (MX). Whereas motocross takes place on courses built primarily on natural terrain, supercross races are made from dirt hauled into open stadiums and covered domes. The track amplifies all the exciting obstacles of outdoor motocross racing, such as jumps, turns, and bumps, but puts them in easy view for spectators. Modern supercross racing is divided into two distinct racing classes: the 450SX Class and the 250SX Class. The 250SX Class is mostly made up of aspiring young racers on 250cc four-stroke motorcycles. The class is split into East and West Regions, each of which crowns its own champion. At the final race of the season in Las Vegas, Nevada the East and West regions meet in the East-West Shootout.

Alex Martin, a 25 year-old Millville, Minnesota native, is the sole member of the CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha race team competing in the 250SX West Region class. Alex Martin carried back-to-back 5th place finishes into the 15th and final round of the 250SX West region 2015 Monster Energy / AMA Supercross season. This was the Monster Energy / AMA Supercross series’ first ever stop at the brand new home of the NFL San Francisco 49ers football team, Levi’s Stadium, in Santa Clara, California. The race got off to a great start for Alex Martin when he ended qualifying practice 4th fastest with a 51.624 best time. This was Martin’s strongest qualifying performance of the year thus far, and he looked to carry the momentum into the night program later that evening.

Martin continued the momentum he gained during qualifying and managed to grab the holeshot in 250SX West region Heat 1 at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California. Alex Martin remained at the front of the pack and led the field in the inaugural racing lap at Levi’s Stadium. Martin dropped to 4th on lap two following a mistake in one of the rhythm sections. He was able to stay in the thick of the leading pack eventually passing Josh Hansen for 3rd place on lap 4 and held that position through the end of the heat. Martin’s third place finish in his heat race equaled his season best heat race performance during the Oakland round of Monster Energy / AMA Supercross.

This was Alex Martin’s second Monster Energy / AMA Supercross podium performance of the year, and an emotional finish to a great 2015 Supercross season

The 250SX West region main event at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California began with one of the biggest first turn pileups seen all season. Alex Martin played it smart and emerged from the chaos on two wheels and in 2nd place. By lap two Martin dropped to 3rd and remained there for the next 6 laps. Martin lost another position, falling back to 4th on lap 8, however he was able to regain 3rd place two laps later when Aaron Plessinger crashed. Martin rode the remaining laps incredibly smart, resisting a late race charge by Malcolm Stewart and holding on to 3rd place all the way to the checkered flag.

This was Alex Martin’s second podium performance of the year, and an emotional finish to a great Supercross season. “I was fortunate enough to keep it on two wheels the whole race and avoid all of the carnage going on around me. I'm really happy to finish the season strong with my second podium of the year in Santa Clara, and just want to thank everyone that has been behind me all season," said Martin.

Martin finished 6th in the Overall Points Standings which happens to be the best of his career and highest finish ever for the CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha Team. The 2015 Monster Energy / AMA Supercross 250SX West Region series has been a great ride for the CycleTrader.com/Rock River Yamaha team. Fellow team members Luke Renzland and Nick Desiderio will finish the 2015 Monster Energy / AMA Supercross 250SX East Region series in Rutherford, New Jersey on April 25th. East and West 250SX racers will meet up in Las Vegas, Nevada on May 2nd for the East-West Shootout.

In his seventh career NASCAR K&N Pro Series East (NKNPSE) start, Kyle Benjamin was able to grab the checkered flag just ahead of William Byron and the #9 Liberty University Chevrolet. Jesse Little, son of former NASCAR Cup Series driver Chad Little, started the race from the pole position. Little won the 21 Means 21 Pole Award presented by Coors Lite with his qualifying time of 15.891 at 120.748 miles per hour. Little made light contact with the wall, followed by mechanical problems which ended his race early.

William Byron recently dominated the NKNPSE Kevin Whitaker Chevrolet 150 at Greenville Pickens by leading every single lap. Byron started the PittLite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway from the fourth position but quickly sailed past Little, Brandon Jones, and Daniel Hemric to take the lead. Byron would hold onto the lead until a caution flag came out on lap 44 and eventual race winner Kyle Benjamin worked his way to the front. Benjamin was able to hold off Byron for 81 laps, however, Byron didn’t make it easy on him. Byron and Benjamin raced side-by-side for the last thirty laps of the PittLite 125 with Benjamin crossing the finish line just .910 seconds ahead of Byron.

Winner of the PittLite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway, Kyle Benjamin commented on his battle with Byron after the race. It was “A really tough battle. He (Byron) has been really strong all year. I was worried about him a little bit,” said Benjamin. Benjamin was ecstatic about winning, especially at Bristol Motor Speedway. The .533 mile high-banked oval is notoriously difficult, and Benjamin said “Bristol Motor Speedway is one of the toughest tracks on the schedule.”

Scott Heckert, who successfully won NKNPSE races at Watkins Glen and Virginia International Speedway last season, brought it in for the number three position. Kaz Grala, in the Kiklos Toyota, and Brandon Jones, in the MasterForce Tool Storage Chevrolet, round out the top five. William Byron has taken the lead in the points standings, followed closely by Austin Hill and Kyle Benjamin.

The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will head to Iowa Speedway for the Casey's General Store 150 on May 16th. This particular race will pit NASCAR K&N Pro Series East against racers from the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West in a head to head battle.
