Improve 2014 Chevy Silverado / GMC Sierra 1500 EcoTec3 V6 Power with K&N Air Intake

K&N Performance Air Intake System 63-3085 for 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L

K&N Performance Air Intake System 63-3085 for 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 models

General Motors (GM) used the 4.3L 4300 Vortec V6 as its base engine for the full-size Chevrolet Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 for years. In 2013 this engine was rated at 195 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. However, for 2014 the same size 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine with new technologies such as direct injection, variable valve timing, and even active fuel management, allows the standard V6 to produce 285 horsepower and 305 lb-ft of torque. This puts the standard 2014 Silverado / Sierra EcoTec3 V6’s performance on par with the 4.8L Vortec V8 engine of the 2013 Silverado and Sierra. This of course doesn’t mean that 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 and GMC Sierra 1500 owners won’t benefit from a little more horsepower and torque.

The 2014 Chevy Silverado 1500 features a 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 engine as its standard power plant and boasts best in class standard V6 torque

By simply installing K&N performance air intake 63-3085 2014 Silverado and Sierra V6 owners can improve acceleration, add horsepower, and increase torque that will come in handy for hauling, towing, or even every day driving. The K&N 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 air intake system is expert-engineered and guaranteed to increase horsepower and torque. It replaces the restrictive factory system with a free-flowing, molded high-density polyethylene (HDPE), air intake tube and an oversized K&N high-flow air filter. The K&N 63-3085 air intake system maintains a factory like fit and finish under the hood of 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 and 2014 Sierra 1500 V6 models.

A K&N high-flow chrome top conical air filter RF-1041 is fitted to the inlet of the air intake system to provide superior airflow and superior performance without sacrificing filtration efficiency. The filter is washable and reusable and can go up to 100,000 miles between cleanings, depending on driving conditions. When it does come time to service the K&N air filter, cleaning can be easily completed using one of K&N’s readily available Recharger air filter service kits. The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 air intake system incorporates an air filter heat shield which helps to guard cooler air entering the engine from ambient heat.

A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3 liter EcoTec3 V6 gained an estimated 10.16 more horsepower

A 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3 liter EcoTec3 V6 gained an estimated 10.16 more horsepower and 12.16 lb-ft of torque with the installation of K&N air intake, number 63-3085

Because the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 air intake system is designed to decrease restriction, and increase airflow, it is able to make impressive performance gains in horsepower and torque throughout the entire RPM range of the already powerful standard V6 engine. On the dyno, when installed on a 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 4.3 liter EcoTec3 V6, the 63-3085 performance air intake system produced an estimated additional 10.16 horsepower at 5245 rpm and 12.16 pound-feet of torque at a low 3,548 rpm. Increased power will require the engine to expend less energy to cruise down the highway with active fuel management in place, or help during full throttle acceleration situations.

The 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 air intake system is an easy to install performance upgrade that can be installed in about 90 minutes or less using basic hand tools, and by following K&N’s simple step-by-step instructions. It maintains all necessary factory connections and does not require any additional modifications be made to the vehicle. K&N backs its air filters and air intake systems with a 10-year/million mile limited warranty so owners can rest assured that their intake system can stand up to tough conditions.

Whether owners use their 2014 Chevrolet Silverado 1500 4.3L and GMC Sierra 1500 4.3L EcoTec3 V6 as a reliable daily driver, dedicated workhorse, or something in between, the K&N 63-3085 Performance Air Intake system will provide increased performance with better engine sound for years to come.

K&N Air Filters sponsored NHRA Super Gas driver, Luke Bogacki, is the reigning NHRA Super Gas Champion. Bogacki introduced his new Charlie Stewart Race Cars built; Racing RV’s backed ’63 Corvette Roadster at the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Series event in Indianapolis, Indiana. Luke Bogacki’s new Racing RV’s Corvette is a Charlie Stewart Race Cars creation, and features additional backing from K&N Filters, ThisIsBracketRacing.com, and RacerSwag.com. Charlie Stewart Race Cars outfitted their custom ’63 Corvette body with a carbon fiber K&N hood scoop. The eye-catching vinyl wrap was designed and applied by Accelerated Graphics. For the most part, this new combination mirrors the setup that propelled Bogacki to the 2014 title.

“Following the 2014 season, we sold the Corvette that we won the championship with to a young racer from New Mexico named Justin Bromley,” Bogacki explained. “Immediately, I put in an order with Charlie Stewart to build another one. This car is very similar to our old Corvette; it’s the same body style, same wheelbase, and we’re even starting out the season with the same engine combination. Charlie and his staff made a number of small changes, and we’ve got some new components between the frame rails that I’m confident will make this combination even better than our previous one.”

Under the K&N carbon fiber hood scoop is the same Huntsville Engine & Performance 582 cubic inch powerplant that was in Luke’s last Corvette. The 1050 horsepower beast pushed the machine to the 9.90 index at speeds in excess of 167 miles per hour last weekend in Indianapolis. “I picked up the bare chassis from Charlie in early April,” explained Bogacki. “This whole car came together in less than a month. I’ve got so many people to thank for making it happen.”

Bogacki entered the NHRA Division 3 Lucas Oil Series event in Indianapolis, Indiana as the defending event champion in Super Gas, and as the leader in the Division 3 JEGS All-Stars standings. Despite promising numbers from his new Corvette, Luke was derailed in the opening round of competition with a -.003 red light. He advanced to the second round of Super Comp behind the wheel of his K&N Filters dragster before falling to Haley Gregory in a double-breakout contest. “Indy certainly didn’t go as well as I would have liked, but overall I think the event was promising for our team,” Bogacki said. “The new Corvette was flawless pretty much from the start. We made some minor adjustments during testing on Thursday, and other than that I hardly turned a wrench on the car all weekend.”

Luke Bogacki and his K&N Filters / Racing RV’s team will attend a bracket event prior to their second stop on the NHRA Division 3 tour in Norwalk, Ohio. The Bogacki Motorsports team will follow that Division 3 event with their first national event appearance of 2015: the NHRA Kansas Nationals May 22-24, 2015 in Topeka, Kansas where Luke will again enter as the defending event champion.

The Heinrich Maneuver BMW R nineT received a custom sub frame blending square and round section tubing which supports a hand crafted alloy and suede cafe racer inspired seat

Deus ex machina is a phrase borrowed from Greek meaning "god from the machine”. In popular culture Deus Ex Machina is also the name of a company that embodies the spirit of the counter cultures born from both Surfing, and custom motorcycle lifestyles. Deus Ex Machina’s style and influence transcends borders and the company maintains showrooms in Australia, Bali, Los Angeles, California and Milan, Italy. While Deus Ex Machina sells its own line of lifestyle oriented apparel and motorcycle parts, the retail side of their business is just a means to an end. The Deus Ex Machina crew lives the part surfer, part biker lifestyle and remains focused on the aesthetic beauty to a point which borders on worshiping a diety of machines.

The folks at Deus Ex Machina recently wrapped up a custom K&N motorcycle air filters equipped BMW R nineT motorcycle build. Jeremy Tagand of Deus Ex Machina describes the BMW R nine T project as “a coming together of like minds, shared visions, a visceral desire to evoke the spectacular.” This project, nicknamed the Heinrich Maneuver, received a fuel tank and bodywork based on drawings from working sessions at The House of Simple Pleasures.

The Heinrich Maneuver BMW R nineT custom fuel tank is a work of art in itself

The Heinrich Maneuver BMW R nineT custom fuel tank is a work of art in itself and atop the tank a suede trimmed lidded recess houses the fuel filler and ignition switch

The fuel tank is a work of art in itself and atop the tank a suede trimmed lidded recess houses the fuel filler and ignition switch. Color was critical for the tank. This level of expert craftsmanship deserved to be showcased, and the gloss white paint does the job while just enough exposed alloy highlights the hand built design. Further attention to detail can be found in the BMW tank and alternator cover badges. Alloy components, discarded while stripping down the stock BMW R nineT, were melted down onsite and sand casted into the new BMW badging found on the Heinrich Maneuver.

Body positioning is crucial to perfecting the look of a custom motorcycle so Deus Ex Machina repositioned the foot pegs slightly more rearward

Body positioning is crucial to perfecting the look of a custom motorcycle so Deus Ex Machina repositioned the foot pegs slightly more rearward than found on a stock BMW R nineT

The BMW R nine T’s custom sub frame is a blend of square and round section tubing supporting a hand crafted alloy and suede cafe racer inspired seat. The minimalist nature of the Heinrich Maneuver project meant the BMW’s stock air filter box needed to be eliminated and replaced by dual K&N air filters, number SN-2510, and a K&N breather filter 62-1360 for superior airflow & superior performance. The Heinrich Maneuver sports a custom exhaust system based on the stock headers, but reworked into a 2 into 1 into 2 exhaust system fabricated in-house.

Because body positioning is so crucial to perfecting the look of a custom motorcycle the foot pegs were repositioned slightly more rearward than what is found on a stock BMW R nineT. A Motogadget dash, offering all the benefits of the standard unit in a smaller package, was added in favor of its more compact and visually pleasing appearance. The Heinrich Maneuver is Deus Ex Machina’s way of celebrating BMW’s history and innovation. It combines both form and function together into a stunning example of how modern technology can be incorporated into classic style.

To create such a beautiful ride, Deus Ex Machina offers thanks to the following companies:

Carlisle Tyres & Accessories (An authorized K&N dealer in Australia)

Jake Andreotti Scores First Super 600 Micro Sprint Car Win For a Mother’s Day Gift

Despite Jake Andreotti’s lack of familiarity with Dixon Speedway in Dixon, California he managed to qualify third fastest with a best time of 11.432 seconds at 62.521 MPH

After a successful first season racing his K&N filters equipped Micro Sprint Car in 2014 Jake Andreotti moved into the more advanced Super 600 Micro Sprint Car class

After a successful first season racing his K&N filters equipped Micro Sprint Car in 2014 Jake Andreotti moved into the more advanced Super 600 Micro Sprint Car class

K&N air filters supported twelve-year-old Micro Sprint Car driver Jake Andreotti, hails from the Northern California region which happens to be a hotbed for dirt track racing. Jake began racing at just five years old after beginning his training a mere six months earlier. During a period of over six years racing Quarter Midget cars, Andreotti built up quite a race resume. He was able to accumulate five national titles, 20 club titles, regional titles and other series championships. Andreotti has broken track records across the United States and can even boast that he has raced internationally in Canada.

At the end of the 2013 Quarter Midget season Jake, and his father Jared, decided it was time to take Andreotti Racing to the next level. Jake gathered the skills he learned racing Quarter Midgets and carried it into Micro Sprint Car racing in 2014. After a successful first season racing his K&N filters equipped Micro Sprint Car in 2014, Jake Andreotti moved into the Super 600 class. The Super 600 class must adhere to certain guidelines; however engine modifications are basically unlimited. Jake and the Andreotti Racing crew spend much of their time racing at Delta Speedway in Stockton, California but on mother’s day weekend the family headed to Dixon Speedway to try their luck.

Jake was having difficulties navigating turns 1 and 2 so the Andreotti Racing team adjusted the K&N equipped #7P Micro Sprint Car’s wing to improve handling

Jake was having difficulties navigating turns 1 and 2 so the Andreotti Racing team adjusted the K&N equipped #7P Micro Sprint Car’s wing to improve the car’s handling

Jake Andreotti, and his father Jared, dedicated Andreotti Racing’s first win in the Super 600 Micro Sprint Car class to Jenni Andreotti

Jake Andreotti, and his father Jared, dedicated Andreotti Racing’s first win in the Super 600 Micro Sprint Car class to Jenni Andreotti as a gift on Mother’s Day Weekend

This was Jake’s first time at Dixon Speedway in Dixon, California and he was excited to test his skills on an unfamiliar track. Like a seasoned veteran, Jake sought out the Dixon Speedway regulars to get their input on how and where to drive the #7P K&N filters equipped Super 600 Micro Sprint Car on the 1/5th mile dirt Karting track. Jake used the three hot laps given before the race to familiarize himself with Dixon Speedway and determine which adjustments should be made to the number 7P car. After practice Andreotti brought the K&N powered Micro Sprint Car back into the pits to make adjustments and to contemplate how he could improve his race line. Despite Jake’s lack of familiarity with Dixon Speedway he managed to qualify third fastest with a best time of 11.432 seconds at 62.521 MPH.

During Andreotti’s 10-lap heat race the number 7P driver made it as high as second after a fourth place start. Unfortunately Jake lost a position on the final lap of his heat race, but still crossed the line with a very respectable third place finish. The top drivers from each heat were asked to participate in a trophy dash where Andreotti once again made it on the podium with a second place finish. Jake was having difficulties navigating turns 1 and 2 so the Andreotti Racing team adjusted the K&N equipped #7P Micro Sprint Car’s wing to improve the car’s handling. However, adjusting the wing to better suit turns 1 and 2 affected how the car drove through turns 3 & 4. Knowing that Jake was having the most difficulties in turns 1 and 2, the team decided to sacrifice the cars grip in turns 3 and 4 in order to improve elsewhere on the track.

Heading into the main event Jake Andreotti told his mother Jenni that he had his sights set on the checkered flag and that he was going to get his mom the win for mother’s day. Despite how bold this statement appeared, Jake Andreotti pulled off his first win in the Super 600 Micro Sprint Car class on an unfamiliar track just as he predicted. Jake and the Andreotti Racing team learned a lot from their night at Dixon Speedway and got a feel for how even the slightest adjustments to the car can change the driving experience. Jenni Andreotti said “Together with K&N Filters, Lucas Oil, Joe’s Racing Products, Hoosier Tires, Simpson, Buchanan Auto Electric, and Rago & Son we ALL got this win.”

K&N believes in supporting up and coming racers at the grassroots level. K&N is proud to sponsor Andreotti racing and the number 7P K&N Filters Micro Sprint Super 600 Car. Be sure to keep an eye on this young man as he has been described as “the next Kyle Larson” by those who have seen him race. Kyle Larson, who also got his start in the Northern California racing scene, was the 2012 NASCAR K&N Pro Series East champion and the 2014 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Sunoco rookie of the year.
