This K&N 57S air intake system upgrades the VW Polo 6R by replacing factory parts with a well-engineered molded air filter box and high-flow air filter from K&N filters

The Volkswagen Polo supermini has been produced by the German auto manufacturer Volkswagen since 1975. The VW Polo, currently in its fifth generation of production, is sold in Europe and other markets worldwide in hatchback, sedan, coupé and estate variants. Several other supermini cars produced by the Volkswagen group are based upon the same platform as the VW Polo, including the Audi A1, SEAT Ibiza, and SKODA Fabia, among others. More varied than the body style configurations of these models is the list of available engines. Engine displacement can range between 1.2-litres up to 1.6-litres, run on diesel fuel or petrol, and can be turbocharged or naturally aspirated.

The Volkswagen Polo 6R has won several awards including World Car of the Year, Supermini of the Year, and Japan Import Car of the Year. Despite these many accolades the VW Polo, and the related Audi, SEAT, and SKODA models can be improved upon with the simple installation of a K&N^® 57S performance air intake system. Scott Heckert broke his own track record in qualifying and led a majority of the Virginia International Raceway Biscuitville 125 before a broken rear end put him out of contention for the win

Going into Saturday night’s race, there was no doubt that defending NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race and pole winner Scott Heckert was the one to watch for the win. The HScott motorsports driver broke his own track record in qualifying and led a majority of the race. Unfortunately, a broken rear end on lap 47 resulted in Heckert finishing the race 15th. When asked about his unfortunate luck, Heckert said, “I was having so much fun battling with Austin [Hill] for the lead. My team gave me the car to win and we just had bad luck. We are going into Richmond with a positive attitude and looking to make up points in the championship run.”

With Scott Heckert out of contention, many other eager drivers hoped to take their shot at ending up in Victory Lane. In the last five laps there were between 3 and 4 lead changes on the tricky 2.5 mile road course. On the second Green-White-Checkered finish attempt, leader Austin Hill spun in turn one resulting in NASCAR Next driver Dalton Sargeant taking the lead. Sergio Pena started fifth on the final restart and was sitting in third after Sargeant took the lead. On turn 7 of the final lap Dalton Sargeant went spinning, leaving Pena and Kaz Grala to battle it out for the checkered flag. Coming down the front shoot to the start finish line, Pena and Grala made contact. Pena took the lead and the Biscuitville 125 win in his number 42 Special Smiles Pediatric Dentistry Toyota.

Sergio Pena, a 22-year old Virginia Native, was a fill-in driver for primary Rev Racing driver Jay Beasley while he is out for medical reasons. “This win is for Jay Beasley, he deserves to be in this car. In the end I can’t thank Rev Racing and the NASCAR Drive for Diversity Program enough. They could have chosen a lot of people but they chose me and I am glad we ended up in Victory Lane,” said Pena during a victory lane interview. Pena is hoping this win opens opportunities for him to get back into the sport allowing him to continue climbing the ranks.

Kaz Grala took home the runner up position in his number 3 Kiklos Toyota Camry followed by Sunoco Rookie of the Year contender David Garbo Jr. This was Garbo’s first podium finish in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East. Fellow rookie of the year contender and Rev Racing driver Collin Cabre brought home the fourth position while Jj Haley, after leading for six laps, rounded out the top five.

William Byron still leads the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East championship points chase over Scott Heckert by 12 points going into the UNOH 100 at Richmond International Raceway. Austin Hill, who sits in third place, has further narrowed the gap between him and Scott Heckert. The NASCAR K&N Pro Series East will return to the track for the UNOH 100 at Richmond International Raceway on Thursday, September 10, 2015.

The K&N 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel performance air intake and intercooler pipe work together to create remarkable gains in horsepower and torque

The fourth generation Jeep Grand Cherokee, referred to as the WK2 in some circles, can be equipped with an optional 3.0-liter turbocharged EcoDiesel V6. The common rail diesel (CRD) V6 engine is produced by VM Motori Cento in Ferrara, Italy and produces horsepower and torque numbers that rival the optional 5.7-liter V8 engine equipped WK2 Grand Cherokee models. Where the diesel Grand Cherokee outshines its V8 powered brethren is in miles per gallon and increased fuel range.

Owners of 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee models looking to further increase the performance of their turbocharged EcoDiesel have a bolt-on performance option from the leader in air filter technology, K&N. diesel performance air intake systems, like number 63-1570 from K&N filters, are designed to safely and reliably increase horsepower and torque by reducing restriction and turbulence in the air intake tract. For increased diesel performance K&N replaces factory 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee parts with a new roto-molded HDPE air intake tube and mandrel-bent aluminum intercooler pipe

A K&N air intake system begins with a world famous washable and reusable high-flow K&N air filter. K&N air filter number RC-2960, is built with an oiled cotton gauze filtration technology pleated between two layers of wire screen mesh. Because cotton naturally breathes easier than typical paper disposable air filters, a K&N air filter will allow for increased airflow with the benefit of being reusable. From there K&N replaces the dryer-hose like factory air intake tube of the 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel with a new roto-molded HDPE air intake tube to smooth and straighten airflow. An additional performance component of the K&N Jeep Grand Cherokee diesel air intake system is the new K&N intercooler pipe made from mandrel-bent aluminum and powder coated for durability. The K&N intercooler pipe included with K&N diesel intake 63-1570 replaces the factory pipe and intercooler muffler chamber. The K&N Grand Cherokee intercooler pipe helps to further reduce air intake tract restriction while also giving the 2014-2015 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0L EcoDiesel engine a more aggressive sound. The K&N Grand Cherokee diesel performance air intake system, and Grand Cherokee diesel intercooler pipe work together to create some pretty remarkable gains in horsepower and torque.

When dyno tested in-house by K&N filters on an otherwise stock 2014 Jeep Grand Cherokee 3.0L turbo diesel, K&N air intake 63-1570 was shown to provide an estimated increase of 12.67 additional horsepower at a usable 2,900 RPM. More impressive yet is the estimated increase of 30.94 lb-ft of torque which peaked at a low 2,600 RPM. K&N diesel air intake system 63-1570 exhibited gains in power across the RPM band which directly translated to measurable increases at the rear wheels. This diesel air intake system will do more than just provide more power. It will also improve drivability by reducing restriction; allowing the turbocharger and engine to work more efficiently.

In LOORRS round 14 Pro 4 Bryce Menzies headed up a hill with 3 laps left in the race and an unfortunate landing sent the Red Bull truck on 2 wheels

K&N sponsored Bryce Menzies and the Menzies Motorsports team had won 5 of the 11 races in the Pro 2 class heading into LOORRS rounds 13 and 14 in Reno, Nevada

The Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series (LOORRS) 2015 short course season has been filled with a lot of ups and downs for the K&N sponsored team of Menzies Motorsports. Bryce Menzies and the Menzies Motorsports team had won 5 of the 11 races in the Pro 2 class heading into LOORRS rounds 13 and 14 in Reno, Nevada. Bryce Menzies has had success in the past at this track and was hoping to add another notch to his belt.

K&N air filters supported LOORRS driver Bryce Menzies qualified 3rd overall in the Pro 4 class for round 13 which put him on the 2nd row for the start. Bryce successfully passed every truck in the Pro4 class besides the series points leader Kyle Leduc and finished second. Bryce then headed onto the track again for round 13 of the Pro 2 truck class. Bryce Menzies again qualified 3rd also putting him on the second row for the start. Bryce quickly made his way to the front of the pack and won the Pro 2 race with a significant gap over second place driver Rob MacCachren.

LOORRS round 14 the next day began very much the same as round 13 with Bryce Menzies qualifying the Pro 4 truck in 2nd and 1st in the Pro 2 class. The invert started the #7 Red Bull Pro 4 truck in the third row for round 14. Bryce Menzies made his way through the field, all the way up to third place before getting stuck behind Greg Adler who spun out. This forced Bryce back to 8th place. Determined, he made his way through traffic once again all the way up to 3rd place right behind the leader. Bryce headed up a hill with 3 laps left and an unfortunate landing sent the truck on 2 wheels before it eventually flipped. Bryce Menzies was uninjured following the crash but did not continue the Pro 4 race.

The final race of the weekend for Bryce was the Pro 2 class where he was fortunate to start on the front row. Bryce quickly took the lead after turn 1 and never looked back. This win marks Bryce’s 7th LOORRS win out of 13 races so far in the 2015 season. Menzies Motorsports is 24 points behind Rob MacCachran for the points lead with 4 races left in the season. K&N filters sponsored Menzies Motorsports plans to work hard to give Bryce a bulletproof truck to go out and hopefully win every race remaining. Menzies Motorsports will have an advantage for the next LOORRS short course race in Bryce’s hometown of Las Vegas, Nevada on September 18-19, 2015.
