K&N Air Filters Come in Many Shapes and Sizes to Fit Your Vehicle

K&N pioneered the performance air filter market in 1969 with an oiled cotton air filter design and currently offers an unthinkable amount of air filters in many air filter sizes

Whether it's sitting down in your favorite chair, lying down in bed after a long day's work, or finally getting your project car running oh-so-smoothly, that feeling of just right brings peace and satisfaction. It can be hard, sometimes, to find an air filter for your vehicle that's just right when your air filter needs are outside the norm. It can seem like an insurmountable task if you have space limitations under the hood, performance goals you don't want to inhibit, aesthetics you don't want to compromise or stringent standards of engine protection. Thankfully, your just right woes are over. K&N has a ton of performance air filter sizes that will deliver superior airflow, and superior performance.

K&N air filters were born in the dirt. In 1969, Ken Johnson and Norm McDonald were tired of disposable air filters for their off-road motorcycles constantly getting plugged up. Thus, they embarked on a journey to develop a washable, reusable air filter that would help their motorcycles perform better. Over the last 45+ years, Ken and Norm's design has been refined and proven to be a simple performance add-on that helps to minimize restriction, increase performance, and provide excellent air filtration efficiency.

These days, the most common style of air filter is a flat panel in various air filter sizes and K&N replacement air filters are designed to be installed in the factory air box just like the old filter

At the core of a K&N air filter is its premium oiled cotton gauze air filter media. 4-6 layers of cotton are layered, slightly offset from one another, pleated between wire mesh for rigidity, and impregnated with K&N's air filter oil. Cotton breathes better than paper and the oil acts as a tacking agent, turning cotton strands into microscopic dirt-catching fingers. Other air filter manufacturers may use cotton, some use oil, and most use a pleated design. But K&N brought these design elements together in a way that has made it a leader in aftermarket performance air filters.

These days, the most common style of air filter is a flat panel type. K&N performance replacement panel air filters are designed to be installed in a factory style air box. They have a durable urethane sealing lip that gets compressed between the top and bottom of the air box, providing an airtight seal. If you want to retain the factory look under the hood but don't want to compromise performance with a disposable paper air filter, find a K&N flat panel air filter for your vehicle using the Search By Vehicle tool.

K&N's many air filter sizes of round air filters are popular for hot rodders who put these air filters between a lid and base on top of a carburetor or similarly-styled throttle body

Round air filters are another popular style of performance air filter. Most times, these air filters are fit between a lid and bottom tray on top of a carburetor or similarly-styled throttle body. Available in many diameters and heights, from short and wide to tall and skinny, K&N has a round air filter for you. K&N clamp-on air filters have applications & air filter sizes as varied as colors in the paint aisle and are usually secured to an intake tube, or carburetor inlet, using a hose clamp

K&N round straight clamp-on air filters have applications and air filter sizes as varied as colors in a home improvement store paint aisle. These air filters are designed to be secured to an intake tube, or carburetor inlet, using a hose clamp. K&N universal air filters are quite popular with modern fuel-injected or forced-induction applications due to the variety of air filter sizes. The flange of these filters can be stretched up to 1/16" (1.5mm) to fit in-between sizes. Find a round clamp-on air filter with the flange diameter, filter outside diameter and length you need with the K&N Search by Dimension Round Straight Universal Air Filter tool.

Round tapered clamp-on air filters are just like their round straight clamp-on cousins, except that they taper in diameter along their length from the base to the end cap. This adds a sleek visual appeal and allows many air filter sizes to fit in smaller spaces where a round straight clamp-on may not fit. Many round straight and round tapered clamp-on filters are also available in air filter sizes with chrome end caps for sharper styling. Find a round-tapered clamp-on air filter to fit your needs here with the K&N Search by Dimension Round Tapered Universal Air Filter tool.

K&N oiled cotton performance replacement and universal air filters are washable and reusable. Depending on driving conditions, and air filter sizes, remove the filter from the vehicle from time-to-time and service it using a K&N Recharger Kit with it's easy-to-follow step-by-step instructions. Whether your vehicle travels over-the-road or off-road, a K&N air filter can help it perform better by allowing your engine to breathe easier. K&N backs its air filters with excellent warranties that match their excellent design. Air filters for passenger vehicles and factory over-the-road applications are backed by a 10-year/million mile limited warranty, and those for universal, off-road or custom applications are warranted against defective materials or workmanship for one year from date of purchase with no mileage limitation.

K&N also offers air filters in the following styles and air filter sizes:

  • Oval straight clamp-on
  • Oval tapered clamp-on

East Bay Muscle Cars, in Brentwood, California, is dedicated to producing only the highest quality, trend setting custom builds with a special focus on the Pro-Touring market segment. For those that don’t know, the Pro-Touring style takes classic American muscle cars and modifies them with enhanced suspension components, braking, drivetrain, and aesthetics. Pro-Touring cars embrace classic American automotive styling and infuse these timeless machines with the performance and amenities of new muscle or even super cars.

East Bay Muscle Cars’ clean, modern facility and enthusiasm for the cars they build have set them apart and earned them praise within in the industry. East Bay Muscle Cars was named Hot Rod Magazine Top Ten Trendsetter at 2012 SEMA show and they continue to be a leader in cutting edge design and technology. East Bay Muscle Cars, or EBMC for short, will be bringing an exquisite example of a Pro-Touring inspired 1967 Chevy Camaro, nicknamed Snowblind after the PPG Honda White paint, to the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

At first glance Snowblind looks like one of many 1967 Camaro restomods that can be seen across the country. However, EBMC believes that the parts you don’t see are just as important as the parts you do see. Snowblind is a perfect example of this statement, because after a closer look it becomes apparent this isn’t the average customized 1967 Camaro. Essentially, the only part of this car that is factory Chevrolet is the car’s unibody platform. Both the front and rear subframes have been swapped out for Art Morrison units including a triangulated 4-link 9” Ford live-axle housing.

Body modifications include a Custom fabricated front valance and front fenders with EBMC air induction to aid engine cooling and provide fresh air to a pair of K&N air filters. Very little of the stock 1967 Camaro body was left untouched. EMBC even re-contoured the A-pillars and drip rails, as well as lowered the rear quarter panels down 2” towards wheel openings for a sleeker look. A custom fabricated rear valance, custom integrated rear spoiler, and custom built rear bumper tidy up Snowblind’s backside. EBMC installed 1968 Chevy Camaro doors to eliminate the factory vent wing windows. Even more modifications are hidden under the carbon fiber heat extractor hood.

Pop the hood and a Turnkey Engine Supply Chevy LS3 engine with twin turbochargers will stare you in the face. Additional performance mods under the hood include EBMC custom Stainless steel headers, EBMC induction system and water to air intercoolers. East Bay Muscle Cars left no stone unturned when it came to Snowblind. Mounted to the custom carbon fiber inner wheel wells are EBMC fabricated power steering fluid and coolant reservoirs. You won’t find any junk in the truck at the other end of the car. Under the deck lid with integrated spoiler, hides DSE minitubs to allow 325 mm wide rear tires.

Power is transferred from the massive twin turbo LS3 via a T56 Magnum transmission and ram dual disc clutch connected to an Inland Empire Driveline custom 3.5” aluminum driveshaft. Forward thrust meets the pavement via Rushforth wheels. Wrapping the 18x10 fronts, and 19x12 rears, are 285/35-18 and 325/30-19 Nitto Tires. Because the faster a car goes, the more power it needs to stop, EBMC installed Wilwood 14” slotted and vented brake rotors in the front and rear of Snowblind. 6-piston front and 4-piston rear, Superlight calipers paired with a Wilwood pedal assembly provides the clamping force needed to slow this ‘67 Camaro to a complete stop.
