At one point or another just about everyone has, or will ride in a Honda Civic. There’s a good reason for that, and it’s not just because they’re everywhere. Over the last 40+ years, the Honda Civic has become one of the most popular, reliable, and proven vehicles on the market with millions of units sold. They’re fine-tuned, efficient vehicles and the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Honda Civic diesel models continue that lineage. From 1.6 or 2.2 litre i-DTEC engines with peppy torque and excellent fuel efficiency to sharp interior and exterior styling, the 2012-2016 Honda Civic diesel models offer a lot to love. A perfect match for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 Honda Civic diesels, is an upgrade that has the same lineage of performance and reliability, like the K&N 33-3012 replacement air filter.

The 33-3012 K&N Honda Civic IX diesel replacement air filter is an easy to install performance upgrade. It is trapezoidal in shape and has a precision-engineered, durable urethane sealing lip to provide an air-tight seal in the factory air box. At the heart of the 33-3012 is K&N’s famous oiled cotton gauze filter media. For 2012-2016 Civic IX diesel applications, K&N incorporates 4-layers of surgical grade cotton gauze to ensure outstanding engine protection while increasing airflow for 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 or 2016 Honda Civic IX models with a diesel engine.

While the 33-3012 is designed to increase horsepower and torque, another benefit of its design is that it’s washable and reusable. Just once every 80,000 kilometres or so, depending on driving conditions, simply remove the 33-3012 from your 2012-2016 Honda Civic IX diesel and service it with a K&N air filter cleaning kit. Cleaning instructions are simple, and K&N provides videos on how to service K&N performance replacement air filters on KNFilters.com. Hank Robinson of Hanro Studios Leaves His Mark on the 2015 SEMA Show in Las Vegas

Hank Robinson served 9-1/2 years in the United States Army Infantry

Prior to starting Hanro Studios in 2011, Hank Robinson served 9-1/2 years in the United States Army Infantry, serving overseas with deployments in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan

In a classical sense, many consider artists to be those who work with traditional media such as oil on canvas, sculptures carved from stone, or even something more contemporary such as photography. Unfortunately most artists whose work falls into a customary form of art tend to personify the over romanticized idea of a starving artist. However, instead of waiting tables to get by, many artists have found an outlet to express their creativeness in ways that can actually be used to make a living. Photography, while very hard to break into, can be one of these outlets, graphic design is definitely another practical applied art; and then there is Hank Robinson who has literally carved out his own niche.

Hank Robinson started Hanro Studios out of his garage

Hank Robinson started Hanro Studios out of his garage and at first he mostly engraved signs and plaques with an emphasis on memorializing those who have served in the U.S. armed forces

Prior to 2011 Hank Robinson served 9-1/2 years in the United States Army Infantry. Hank served overseas with deployments in Kosovo, Iraq and Afghanistan. After retiring from the U.S. Army Hank soon discovered his true calling. As Hank told the story, while completing a project in a metal working class he found out that he is extremely skilled at engraving. Following that epiphany Hank started Hanro Studios out of his garage. At first his time was spent engraving signs and plaques for friends or family. As word spread Hanro Studios expanded and is now situated in a 16,000 square foot building that is shared with Troy Buck of FX Auto Body. This collaboration allows the two partners to work on projects that blend Hank’s engraving with paint and airbrush.

Hank Robinson showcases his talents at 2015 SEMA

By partnering with automotive aftermarket companies Hank has been able to showcase his talents in front of thousands in attendance at the 2015 SEMA show in Las Vegas, Nevada

In 2014 Hanro Studios became sponsored by Dremel, best known for its famous rotary tools, and which Hank now uses exclusively in his engravings. Hank’s talent, combined with Dremel tools, has allowed him to take Hanro Studios to the next level. Hank works on everything from custom motorcycles, to home décor with an emphasis on memorializing the men and women who have served in the U.S. armed forces. While engraving parts of a car, or motorcycle, isn’t necessarily ground breaking, its Hank’s work on engraving the body of a car that sets him apart from his peers. Hank’s personal ride, a 2014 Ram 1500 Pickup, features engraving on the hood, tailgate, Peragon bed cover, Velocity wheels, and etching on the rear glass; which was all created freehand using a Dremel tool.

2015 has been a breakthrough year for Hank and Hanro Studios. By partnering with automotive aftermarket companies Hank has been able to show case his talents in front of thousands in attendance at the 2015 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show in Las Vegas, Nevada. Each year, the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) presents an enormous trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada at the Las Vegas Convention Center. While the annual SEMA show is meant to bring the industry together to do business it has also become a vacation destination. As if there wasn’t already plenty to do and see in Las Vegas, Nevada, the SEMA show gathers the finest examples of custom vehicles, industry giants, and celebrities into an area of approximately 3.2 million square feet.

Hank said "Dremel has sponsored me since 2014. They have been nothing but supportive and motivating me to keep reaching the next level." For the 2015 SEMA show Hank was able to showcase his talents at the SEMA Show with two live engraving sessions in the Gibson Exhaust SEMA booth. Additionally, Hank’s personal 2014 Ram 1500 Pickup was placed in the high-profile Velocity Wheels SEMA Show Booth in the Las Vegas Convention Center Lower South Hall. Hank’s daily driver was positioned among high-dollar Italian exotics and ultra-premium British luxury cars fitted with the latest sizes and styles of custom wheels. Even with these other vehicles putting up a fierce fight to gain the attention of SEMA Show attendees, Hank’s daily driver, a domestic pickup truck, stood out from the crowd. His truck is named "A Warrior’s Chariot" and it has been engraved with a Viking/Norse warrior theme.

"While building my truck I have had the opportunity to work with some fantastic companies such as K&N Filters," said Hank. "I engraved my K&N air intake tube to match the Viking/Norse theme of ‘A Warriors Chariot’ and have been given the opportunity to have my engravings showcased by numerous companies in their booths during the 2015 SEMA Show." More information on Hanro Studios, as well as the ability to contact Hank, can be found on the hanrostudios.com website. Stay tuned for a well-made video featuring Hank Robinson engraving the Peragon Truck Bed Cover and etched back window of his 2014 Ram 1500.

Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational Blends Horsepower with a Dose of Girl Power

Jane Thurmond and Brandy Morrow-Phillips will pilot their vintage Chevrolets against the Ultimate Street Car Association's top drivers in the 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational

Jane Thurmond and Brandy Morrow-Phillips will pilot their vintage Chevrolets against the Ultimate Street Car Association's top drivers in the 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational

A highly anticipated invitation only race follows the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show in Las Vegas, Nevada each year. Optima Batteries, in cooperation with the Ultimate Street Car Association (USCA) puts on the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N air filters. Throughout the 2015 season, the USCA promoted nine K&N sponsored nationwide Optima Search for the Ultimate Street Car events as an opportunity to qualify for a highly coveted spot in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational.

Jane Thurmond races her 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett, which she and her husband originally built as a show car, before it morphed into a highly competitive street & track car

Jane Thurmond races her 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett, which she and her husband originally built as a show car, before it morphed into a highly competitive street & track car

While each of the USCA events are broken into classes based on vehicle type, and skill level, the OUSCI does not make a distinction between pro & amateur, car or truck, or even men vs women. While this does make it tough for the underdogs, it will provide competitors like Jane Thurmond and Brandy Phillips an opportunity to prove that they're good, and not just for a couple of girls. One advantage working in their favor is that neither Jane, nor Brandy are strangers to the OUSCI racing scene. In fact, both ladies competed in the 2014 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational.

In 2014 Jane Thurmond earned a USCA Spirit of the Event award which gave her the opportunity to show the boys she gets things done at the OUSCI. Jane, a mother of three, is married to Greg Thurmond who runs GTS Customs in Simi Valley, California. Jane's husband Greg and the GTS Customs shop have experience with all kinds, and all levels, of automotive repair and restoration. However, the couple's passion for the Chevrolet Corvette has earned the shop a reputation among 'Vette enthusiasts.

During a two-year hiatus from racing Brandy Phillips and her husband Rob built Brandy's 1972 Chevrolet C10 R race truck using ideas Rob gained while driving his 1969 Chevy C10

During a two-year hiatus from racing Brandy Phillips and her husband Rob built Brandy's 1972 Chevrolet C10 R race truck using ideas Rob gained while driving his 1969 Chevy C10

Jane races a 1964 Chevrolet Corvette nicknamed Scarlett. Jane and her husband originally built Scarlett as a show car, but it has morphed into a highly competitive street & track car. Jane began racing when she decided she'd had enough of waiting on the sidelines and wanted to do something more exciting. Jane's driving has progressed so much since that fateful day that she now teaches performance driving techniques with the goal of helping others get into the sport.

Similarly, Brandy Morrow-Phillips and her husband also started by building show cars before progressing into racing. Brandy's husband Rob grew up working on cars and eventually opened his own shop known as PCH Rods. Rob gained notoriety when his 1969 Chevy C10 pickup truck was taken to the SEMA show and used to compete in autocross and pro-touring events. So when it came time to build a race car for Brandy, the couple took what Rob learned from his 1969 C10 and applied that to an all new C10 race truck build.

Jane Thurmond and Brandy Phillips had the opportunity to compete in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in 2014 and at one point even raced head to head against one another

Jane Thurmond and Brandy Phillips had the opportunity to compete in the Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in 2014 and at one point even raced head to head against one another

Brandy had grown up around cars since the 1990's by joining her father, who works in the automotive aftermarket industry, at SCCA and NASA events. Brandy began competing and attending driving schools after getting her license. She began competing in 2008 and in 2011 her diligence paid off in when she won her first Goodguys Autocross event at the 2011 Goodguys Nationals in Columbus, Ohio. Brandy took some time off from racing in 2012 when she and Rob started a family. It was during this two-year hiatus when the couple built Brandy's 1972 Chevrolet C10 R race truck.

Jane and Brandy had the opportunity to compete in the K&N supported Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational in 2014 and at one point even raced head to head against one another. With the knowledge they gained from their past experience participating in this event, both women hope to improve their results from last year and hopefully finish in the top half of the field. As mentioned before, the OUSCI does not make a distinction between pro & amateur, car or truck, or even men vs women. But everyone loves an underdog story and hopefully these ladies can outperform even their wildest expectations.

The 2015 Optima Ultimate Street Car Invitational presented by K&N Filters will take place this weekend, November 7th & 8th, 2015 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. If anyone in attendance happens to spot Jane or Brandy, don't be afraid to approach them and wish them luck. In fact, go check out their amazing vehicles, take pictures, and ask questions. These two ladies may be wives and mothers, but they're able to talk the talk and walk the walk on par with most car guys.

Jeeps thrive in dirty off-road situations and so do K&N replacement air filters. K&N replacement air filters can help your engine breathe easier and keep it free of contaminants with a tried-and-true oiled cotton gauze high-flow filter media. K&N air filters are also washable and reusable so they never need to be replaced. But it’s not just your engine that needs clean filtered air; the driver and passengers do too. That’s why K&N developed the VF1010 pair of washable and reusable cabin air filters for 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 and 2016 Jeep Wrangler models.

The VF1010 K&N replacement reusable cabin air filters are direct replacements for the disposable cabin air filters in the 2011 to 2016 Jeep Wrangler V6 models listed below. K&N cabin air filters are designed with a synthetic, electrostatically charged media to help clean and freshen incoming air. The filter media is pleated to provide a large surface area to capture mold, mildew, fungus, spores, bacteria and germs. A K&N cabin air filter is able to do this while also flowing more air for longer periods of time than a typical disposable cabin air filter. K&N cabin air filters are housed in a sturdy molded urethane frame for a precise fit in the factory cabin air filter box.

A dirty or clogged cabin air filter can significantly decrease airflow and cause undue strain on your vehicle’s heating and air conditioning system. With the 2011-2016 Jeep Wrangler replacement cabin air filters from K&N, you won’t have to replace disposable cabin air filters over and over again. Approximately every 12,000 to 15,000 miles, or once a year, remove the VF1010 K&N cabin air filters from your 2011-2016 Jeep Wrangler and service them with a K&N Refresher kit following the easy step-by-step instructions. Reinstall the filters so your lungs and your Jeep’s HVAC system will thank you. You can clean the filter more often, depending on driving conditions.

K&N Cabin Air Filters can be cleaned in a few simple steps with the K&N Refresher Kit 99-6000; not to be confused with K&N’s traditional Recharger kit
