K&N Filters’ Bryce Menzies Becomes Back to Back 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush Winner

Bryce Menzies VS Johnny Greaves in 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush

Bryce Menzies' first round race was against TORC series Pro 4 Champion Johnny Greaves in the head-to-head single elimination format, and Menzies won the race right off the start

For the third year in a row, Red Bull, makers of the highest-selling energy drink in the world, decided to challenge the elements and set up a race course designed to take Pro-4 racing to the limits. The Red Bull Frozen Rush puts short course off-road racers to the test as they compete on the snow and ice of the Sunday River Ski Resort.

With one-off spiked tires Bryce Menzies raced his Pro 4 truck at the 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush

Other than set-up adjustments, and one-off spiked tires made for the Frozen Rush, the K&N equipped Red Bull truck is identical to what Menzies races in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing series

Other than set-up adjustments, and one-off spiked tires made for the Frozen Rush, these trucks are identical to those they race in the Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing series. By invitation only, nine professional off-road truck drivers again hit the road for Newry, Maine to take part in the third running of the Red Bull Frozen Rush event.

Motocross racing legend, and accomplished Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series (LOORRS) Pro-4 truck driver, Ricky Johnson won the inaugural Red Bull Frozen Rush in 2014 and if not for a mistake in the final round of 2015, he nearly took the checkers once again. In a repeat of the 2015 Red Bull Frozen Rush final round, Bryce Menzies faced former teammate Ricky Johnson as they raced for the title. In the end, it was the Red Bull sponsored and K&N Filters equipped Pro 4 Ford truck driven by Bryce Menzies that crossed the finish line first.

Bryce Menzies VS Ricky Johnson for the 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush title

In a repeat of the 2015 Red Bull Frozen Rush final round, Bryce Menzies faced former teammate Ricky Johnson as they raced for the 2016 Red Bull Frozen Rush title

Bryce's first round race was against TORC series Pro 4 Champion Johnny Greaves in the head-to-head single elimination format. Menzies won the race right off the start by gaining the edge over Greaves. Bryce drove a clean first lap while Greaves struggled to navigate the moguls coming down the hill. Bryce laid down fast laps in his first heat that had the crowd showing full support for the Red Bull driver.

After beating Johnny Greaves in round 1, Menzies was set to go up against Rob MacCachren in round 2. Bryce lost the coin toss for lane choice and found himself on the red lane to begin the race. After a close start, the #7 Red Bull K&N equipped Pro 4 had a significant lead heading into the last lap. Menzies eventually beat MacCachren and put himself in the finals for the second straight year.

The finals were set and it was a repeat of the 2015 Red Bull Frozen Rush final round where Bryce beat his former teammate Ricky Johnson by a narrow margin. "I knew if I didn't bring my A game, Ricky was going to beat me," said Menzies after the race. Menzies won the race by being smooth through the moguls coming down the hill making up time on each lap.

Winter X Games Brings Memories of Joy & Heartache for K&N Supported Colten Moore

Colten Moore prepars for snowmobile freestyle at Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado

K&N Filters supported freestyle extraordinaire Colten Moore is preparing for the snowmobile freestyle event in the upcoming Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado

K&N Filters supported freestyle extraordinaire Colten Moore is preparing for the snowmobile freestyle event in the upcoming Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado taking place January 28-31, 2016. As a native Texan the fact that there's no snow to be found in Texas doesn't slow Colten down. "On the snowmobile, we just put wheels on the skis and put a radiator on it. We put carpet down so that I can ride on it and I just basically jump the sled into the foam pit over and over and over. I try to learn new tricks and bigger tricks and get it all dialed in," said Colten Moore.

Colten Moore will pursue seventh X Games medal at Winter X Games 2016

Although Colten Moore is excited about trying to win his seventh X Games medal, it also brings back tremendous feelings of loss for his brother Caleb Moore

Colten Moore's parents installed a foam pit years back at their place in Texas. This allowed Colten and his brother Caleb to practice jumps and freestyle safely as they pursued their adrenaline-filled passion. In a couple of days, Colten will head north to Colorado, where he'll spend a little over a week riding on snow and perfecting his landings before the X Games begin. Although Colten is excited about trying to win his seventh X Games medal, it also brings back tremendous feelings of loss.

On January 24, 2013, Colten's brother Caleb Moore under-rotated his snowmobile while flipping during the freestyle competition at the X Games. Caleb was thrown off the machine, which then hit him directly in the chest, causing bleeding around his heart. At the hospital in Aspen, there was no cardiothoracic surgeon on hand, so the decision was made to transfer him to a hospital in Grand Junction. Due to bad weather, bad luck, and other factors, nearly six hours passed before Caleb was airlifted to Grand Junction, Colorado.

Just after touching down at the airport in Grand Junction, Caleb Moore's heart stopped beating. Caleb was in respiratory arrest for about 20 minutes, which caused irreversible brain damage. One week after the accident, the Moore family made the agonizing decision to take Caleb off of life support and donate his organs, per his wishes. "Growing up, he (Caleb) led me and taught me everything I know," said Colten. "I've had to go through a lot and basically grow up some, and start leading myself and teaching myself new things. He was always the responsible one, so now I'm learning how to do that."

Brothers Colten Moore and Caleb Moore in 2012

On January 24, 2013, Colten's brother Caleb Moore under-rotated his snowmobile while flipping during the freestyle competition at the X Games

Colten admits he feels a strong connection with his brother Caleb whenever he rides, and it's one of the reasons that he continues to do what he does. "Every time I go out and ride, I pray to my brother, I pray to God, and I talk to them," said Colten. "After his accident, I wrecked too, so I wasn't able to ride for a while, and I was kind of bummed out. But honestly, the first time I hopped back on a quad and got to ride, it was the happiest I'd felt in a while, and it felt like he was right there with me, riding with me. I just feel close, like I have the best guardian angel there could possibly be now, right there, watching out for me and helping me."

Brothers Colten Moore and Caleb Moore use K&N filters

The Moore brothers have relied on K&N filters in everything from X Games competition, to touring with the Nitro Circus, racing Pro Lite trucks, or even Polaris RZR side by sides

Perhaps more exciting for Colten than the upcoming 2016 Winter X Games is the release of his book called "Catching the Sky" which is scheduled to be released on January 19, 2016. The book, which was co-authored by award-winning journalist Keith O'Brien, reveals what it was like for Colten to grow up with his brother Caleb and get fully immersed in a high-octane lifestyle. It also brings to light the gripping details of Caleb's death after he crashed during the 2013 X Games.

"It was a big opportunity for me to go get the story out even more and tell more detail," said Colten. He continued, "[The book] kind of answers the questions a lot of people have had. It's better to tell what actually happened, because if you don't, then you have people out their making their own opinions or guessing their own story of what happened. This way, the truth can be told and stuff doesn't get out of whack with people and their opinions and gossip and whatever."

K&N Filters has supported Colten Moore, and his late brother Caleb, for several years pre-dating Caleb's passing. The Moore brothers have relied on K&N air filters and K&N oil filters in everything from X Games competition, to touring with the Nitro Circus, racing Pro Lite trucks, or even Polaris RZR side by sides. Jake Andreotti Starts His 2016 Season at the Tulsa Shootout Micro Sprint Races

Jake Andreotti Racing Micro Sprint Cars Use K&N filters

Jake Andreotti, Andreotti Racing and the trio of # 7p Micro Sprint Cars rely on the support of K&N and the protection offered by K&N Air Filters as well as K&N Oil Filters

The Tulsa Shootout in Tulsa, Oklahoma is a five-day event and the largest event for micro sprint racing in the country. 2016 is the 32nd year of this prestigious event and the number of entries grows every year. 2016 saw a record 1,249 total entries, among 615 drivers. The 2016 Tulsa Shootout was an event every Micro Sprint race fan and driver should experience.

Jake Andreotti started his 2016 race season at the Tulsa Shootout

Jake Andreotti has started his 2016 race season at the Tulsa Shootout coming off a three month hiatus due to injuries to his neck and a concussion

The Tulsa Shootout encompasses 9 different racing classes including Winged and Non-Wing 600cc Outlaw Micros, A-Class 600cc Micros, ASCS ECOtech Midgets, Restricted Micros, 1200cc Winged Mini Sprints, 1200cc Non Wing Mini Sprints and the exciting Jr. Sprint class for kids 6-12. Drivers from all over the country attend the Tulsa Shootout will skill levels ranging from amateur to professional, ages 6 to 60.

Each driver dreams of bringing home the Golden Driller award, which is a trophy that takes its likeness from a 76 foot tall statue of an oil worker leaning on an oil derrick. The Golden Driller was removed from a depleted oil field in Seminole, Oklahoma and now stands as Tulsa, Oklahoma's most recognizable monument.

Jake Andreotti and his # 7p K&N Filter micro sprint car

Jake Andreotti and his # 7p K&N Filter micro sprint car made quite an impression at the Tulsa Shootout with fans seeking his autograph after each of his main events

K&N Air Filters sponsored micro sprint driver Jake Andreotti is based in the Northern California area. Jake began racing at just five years old with training beginning six months earlier. During a period of over six years racing Quarter Midget cars, Andreotti built up quite a race resume. He was able to accumulate five national titles, 20 club titles, regional titles and other series championships. Andreotti has broken track records across the United States and can even boast that he has raced internationally in Canada.

At the end of the 2013 Quarter Midget season Jake, and his father Jared, decided it was time to take Andreotti Racing to the next level. This past September 12-year old Jake Andreotti drove the K&N Filters equipped number 7p Super 600 Micro sprint to one of the most prestigious titles in California. Jake became the first repeat King of California title holder in two different classes, and both in his rookie year for each class.

Jake Andreotti was awarded the Donnie Ray Crawford Hard Charger Award

The highlight of the Tulsa Shootout for Jake Andreotti was being awarded the Donnie Ray Crawford Hard Charger Award and recognition for his undying efforts

Jake Andreotti has started his 2016 race season coming off a three month hiatus due to injuries to his neck and a concussion. Jake is now racing three cars in three different classes; Restricted Micros, A Class 600 cc Micros, and Winged Outlaw Micros. With the three car line up being new for 2016, and a three month break from driving, Jake and the Andreotti team weren't sure what to expect going into the Tulsa Shootout.

At a Micro Sprint event a good pill draw, where each driver draws a number and that determines where they start in their heat race, will help tremendously. Unfortunately Jake Andreotti's luck wasn't quite there as he drew the highest pill draw in the Outlaw class and towards the back of the other classes as well. Not to be discouraged, Jake saw this as a challenge he was ready to conquer.

In the end, Jake placed 5th in the Restricted A Main and 6th in the Winged Outlaw after coming from 20th. His highlight of the event was being awarded the Donnie Ray Crawford Hard Charger Award. It was quite an honor to receive this award and be recognized for his undying efforts. Jake and his 7p K&N Filter micro sprint made quite an impression. After the main events, Jake signed autographs and many fans felt he was one of the best drivers on the track.
