The KN-173B for Harley-Davidson motorcycles is a Premium Wrench-Off style with a 17mm hex nut on top, and weighs in at 1lb.

The all-American spirit of innovation and experimentation is perhaps no better expressed than in the development and history of the Harley-Davidson motorcycle. From a concept that came to Willie G. Davidson on his way home from a Sturgis trip in the late-1970s, the 1980 release of the FXB Sturgis started a family of factory customs that could be called a dynasty.

The KN-173B filter is protected by a heavy-duty canister and base plate, with a double-rolled seal and further protected by the K&N limited warranty.

Since then, the company has been producing a range of FX (factory experimental) bikes that certainly appeal to the creativity and individualism of the American rider. Such examples are the original FXB Sturgis, and the Dyna Daytona, Custom, Low Rider, Super, Convertible and Glide. (See the applications list for more.)

Most share a distinctive look with a black and silver paint scheme, and the Dyna had silver powder-coated and later, black frames. The Dyna chassis was introduced in 1991 and the current generation continues the family name.

The KN-173B has bypass and pressure relief valves, in addition to anti-drain back valve to prevent dry starts.

If one must have the ultimate superbike for the street, then that machine must have the ultimate powersports cartridge oil filter. We are talking about the Ducati Panigale and the K&N KN-159 replacement oil filter. For the four years that this motorcycle has been on the road and blazing around the track, it has arguably been the most desirable bike in production.

This motorcycle filled every tick-box on the enthusiast's design, engineering and performance wish list, and contributed to healthier Ducati sales figures worldwide in 2014 and 2015. Part of the engineering story for this bike is the replacement of Ducati's signature belt driven overhead cams with a valvetrain driven by gears and chain. It is natural that this engine's more mechanical innards could use a replacement oil filter like the KN-159 K&N replacement oil filter to help keep the lubricants flowing efficiently and at maximum capacity.
