Bradley Morris Back on Track with Curt LeDuc at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Arizona

Bradley Morris spots Curt LeDuc at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Arizona

Bradley Morris shifts gears and spots for Curt LeDuc in his #24 truck at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Arizona

Morris was in the middle of the 2014 Lucas Oil Off-Road Racing Series where he was 1st in points in his Pro Buggy, and 2nd in his Pro Lite, when he crashed on his mountain bike and broke his neck, almost paralyzing himself. Bradley had to have surgery to place two plates and several screws into his neck, and thankfully still had some movement but not much sense of touch. By working hard in therapy and staying focused on his future, Bradley was able to get most of his movement back to normal.

Even with everything feeling better, the vertebrates were still healing. With the healing process still in effect, the doctor told him he couldn’t race off road yet because of all the downward pressure that would be put on his spine when landing the jumps. However, the good news was that the doctor cleared him to do some road racing which allowed Bradley to sit in the driver’s seat and get his body and mind back into the racing mentality. Due to the type of injury he had, it was best to have Bradley step out of his current limited suspension race vehicles and into a different class. After a lot of thought and consideration, Bradley and the BME Motorsports Team decided it would be best for him to step up to Pro4 for the 2016 Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series.

Luckily, before Bradley had been hurt, he had been looking at the future and had already started testing in Curt LeDuc’s Pro 4 to see if that was a direction to go in the future. Working with Curt offered an amazing experience for Bradley, and he was able to gain great insight into his racing. Curt has raced everything from the Dakar Rally, Baja 1000, Pikes Peak, desert racing in all the different series, and short course from the beginning with the Mickey Thompson Series. This past year, Curt was inducted into the Off Road Motorsports Hall of Fame, and he is also one of K&N Engineering’s longest sponsored drivers, spanning over the past 30 years. Curt has since then officially retired from short course racing in 2014.

Over the past few years Curt, Bradley, and the BME Motorsports Team have become good friends and have been there to support each other. “Working with Curt has been great, learning from one of the most experienced drivers is great. He has driven everything and has learned something from each one, and now he is transferring that wisdom to me” stated Bradley. With Bradley not being cleared to race until after the 2016 Lucas Oil Off Road season opener at Wild Horse Motorsports Park in Arizona, Curt came out of retirement to fill in for his friend in his time of need. So now rather than Curt spotting for Bradley and teaching him some new tricks, Bradley was now going to be spotting for Curt. Curt showed up to the season opener and came out with his K&N Engineering sponsored Pro 4 to race for points, which gave Bradley a good start to his 2016 season with a top 10 and a top 5 finish.

Bradley Morris neck injury surgery

After an intense surgery and rehab routine, Bradley is recovering well and is just about ready to get back on the track

Bradley has been testing in his new Pro 4 truck for the last 8 months and also working hard to get the truck to its full potential, as well as getting comfortable in it. He has had to take it easy going over the jumps, but is able to drive it hard in the corners like he usually does. Slowly, it has all been coming together, and Bradley has been anxiously awaiting his time to shine in his brand new K&N and Kicker Audio Pro 4. Bradley said, “ I am super excited to bring a new driving style to Pro 4. After studying film of other drivers and videos of myself testing, I think that the smoothest way around the track while keeping the momentum moving forward is the fastest. This is going to be the key to my success.” It has been a long journey for Bradley to get to where he is today, and the fans have been asking non-stop when is he coming back and what class he going to be racing in. The class he was going to race was answered last year when the Pro 4 Chassis was getting a lot of attention, but no one new when he would be back.

The time has now come upon us for Bradley to get back on the track officially and take the green flag once again. Bradley will be making his Pro 4 debut at Lake Elsinore Motorsports Park for rounds 3 & 4 later this month. It has been almost two years since Bradley got injured, and to take the green flag at one of his home tracks is one of the best ways to make a come back. Watch for Bradley to put on a great show for the enormous cheering section there to watch him do what he loves.

Chad Finchum gets his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver Chad Finchum won the Pitt Lite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee

Flinchum started the race on the second row and quickly headed to the front of the pack, leading the race for 112 laps

NASCAR K&N Pro Series East driver Chad Finchum won the Pitt Lite 125 at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee, his first win in 13 career starts in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East.

Finchum, a 21-year-old driver from Knoxville, Tenn., is racing for the recently formed Martin-McClure Racing, which is partially owned by NASCAR XFINITY Series driver Eric McClure. Martin-McClure Racing is running a partial schedule in the K&N Pro Series East. The race at Bristol was the first of four scheduled starts for Finchum with the team.

“This is kind of my playground. I love the short tracks. I love the concrete tracks,” Finchum said after the race on Saturday. “Really good success today. We showed a lot of potential and I hope that can carry through. All the hard work paid off.”

Finchum took the lead from pole winner Harrison Burton on lap 14. Finchum, who started on the outside of the second row, was out front for the remainder of the race, 112 laps. He finished 0.625 seconds ahead of runner-up Kyle Benjamin. Finchum is the fourth different winner in four K&N Pro Series East races in 2016.

“We have been finishing second a lot this year and I really wanted to get the win, especially at a place I have some experience at,” Benjamin said. “Also I wanted to get the team its first win. We haven’t won yet in the K&N Series but it will happen shortly. We keep bringing fast cars to the track. We can only run second for so long.”

Finchum has never finished higher than seventh place in a K&N Pro Series East race, a feat he accomplished three times, prior to winning at Bristol. The next race he is scheduled to race is at Iowa Speedway on July 26.

“There are plenty of races in between now and the last race on the schedule for places to be filled and places that we can go and race,” Finchum said. “As of right now, I don’t know. I’m just taking all this in. Wins are hard to come by. I’m just taking it one moment at a time right now. This is really cool and it is really fun and I hope I get to do it again many more times with these guys.”

Benjamin’s second-place finish was enough to move him into the lead in the K&N Pro Series East standings. He is three points ahead of Spencer Davis after four races in the K&N Pro Series East schedule. Kaz Grala was third, followed by Justin Haley in fourth and Dillon Bassett in fifth.

“Really good run for us,” Grala said. “Unfortunately, we had to start a little bit farther back than I would have liked. We started 11th. By the time we were up where we needed to be, we were just about out of tires and definitely out of time.”

Todd Gilliland, who was looking to set a NASCAR K&N Pro Series record with five wins in a row to start his career, was ninth and the highest-finishing rookie. Gilliland had troubles from the start and had to work his way into the top 10. He had to start at the back of the field because of unapproved adjustments his team made to the car.

The next K&N Pro Series East race is the Biscuitville 125 at Virginia International Raceway on April 30.

K&N Cabin Filters help prevent allergens from getting inside your Edge, MKX or CX-9

2007-2016 Ford Edge, 2007-2015 Lincoln MKX and 2007-2015 Mazda CX-9 K&N VF2019 Cabin Air Filter

The K&N VF2019 Cabin Air Filter will significantly improve air quality in the 2007-2016 Ford Edge, 2007-2015 Lincoln MKX and 2007-2015 Mazda CX-9

The 3-row crossover market is almost as competitive as the sports, beauty pageants, school plays, and Girl Scout cookie sale that they're likely shuttling kids to. Three of the most stylish options are the 2007-2016 Ford Edge, 2007-2015 Lincoln MKX and 2007-2015 Mazda CX-9. They combined good looks with fun driving manners, lots of room, and lots of luxury. One of these high-end features is an HVAC filtration system that was designed to remove dirt and allergens from the cabin. This helps make for a pleasant environment, no matter how dusty the road, or how bad the pollen count happens to be. But many owners simply forget to change that OEM cabin air filter, and that can lead to a very unpleasant environment.

K&N VF2019 Cabin Air Filter

The K&N VF2019 Cabin Air Filter washable and can be warranted with a 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty

A typical cabin air filter, like the one in your crossover, uses pleated paper to extract contaminants from the air. As air is forced through it, the dirt particles remain on the surface until you change the filter. All of the dirt that collects in those folds, can eventually start to restrict the airflow. Once this happens, the engine will have to work harder (which burns more fuel) to get air through that clogged HVAC filter. Some of the dirt/allergens can also get into the cabin through the vents, making the inside of your family wagon feel dirty and stuffy. The K&N VF2019 Cabin Air Filter is designed to solve these problems, while saving you money.

Each K&N cabin air filter is made from a special electrostatically charged synthetic material that is set inside a sturdy polyurethane frame. As air enters the K&N VF2019 cabin filter, large things like leaves and pine needles to cling to the outside, while smaller particles get trapped inside the web of synthetic fibers. Those contaminants will then remain inside the filter until it's cleaned (we recommend cleaning your K&N cabin air filter every 12-months/12,000 miles, depending on road conditions). You can also use the K&N Cabin Air Filter Refresh Kit to quickly freshen the air inside your CUV any time you feel the need.

Because of its unique filtration media, the reusable K&N VF2019 cabin air filter can filter out dirt, dust, pollen, mold spores, fungus, mildew, bacteria, germs, and other allergens. This will provide a literal breath of fresh air for allergy sufferers. Plus, it's covered by a 10-Year/Million Mile Limited Warranty, so it's guaranteed to keep working for a very long time.

If you've got allergies, the K&N VF2019 Cabin Air Filter will clean the air so you can breathe better

Boost Harley Davidson Street 500/750 Power with a Blacked-Out K&N AirCharger

2015-2016 Harley Davidson GX500/GX750 Street Air Intake

The K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake System for the 2015-2016 Harley Davidson GX500/GX750 Street

An air-cooled Harley Davidson motorcycle is like a chrome-plated "potato" gun. It's huge fun, in a very dramatic sort of way. The 2015-2016 Harley Davidson GX500/GX750 Street on the other hand, is like an agile sword-wielding ninja. It can dart around without setting off car alarms, thanks to its powerful liquid-cooled V-Twin engine. And its sport suspension can handle tight curves or rough roads, without breaking your back. Depending on your needs and skill level, you can choose from a Harley Street 500, or the more powerful Harley Street 750. Both offer fantastic performance, in a lightweight bike that's easy to manage. But if you want to up the power on your urban assault bike, then you're going to need the K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake System.

2015 Harley Davidson Street 750 K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake

A K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake System installed on a 2015 Harley Davidson Street 750

No matter what kind of bike you ride, gasoline engines make their power in the same way: Gas is injected into the cylinders, followed by air that's brought in through the air intake system. This volatile mixture is then ignited by a spark plug, and the resulting explosion forces the piston downward, turning the crankshaft, and ultimately the wheels. The energy created during that fuel detonation is where horsepower comes from. And you can "turn up" that energy/horsepower by simply introducing a high volume of cold air into the combustion cycle.

The K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake System increases airflow by replacing the stock intake system with a low restriction intake tube, connected to a high-flow K&N Performance Air Filter. By using a mandrel-bent aluminum intake tube to create a wide-diameter airflow path to the fuel system, the oversized K&N filter can collect and send a much higher volume of air directly into the engine. This allows the liquid-cooled V-Twin to create power more quickly, resulting in more power and faster throttle response. Plus, that K&N air filter is washable and reusable so it will likely be the last filter you ever need for your bike.

All of these performance claims are meaningless without the proof to back it up. So a K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake System was installed on a 2015 Harley Davidson Street 750, and the bike was run on a dyno. With the stock intake, this water-cooled Harley made 37.79 hp and 43.53 lb-ft of torque at the rear wheel. After the K&N performance intake was bolted on, the dyno showed 44.45 horsepower, and 49.71 lb-ft of twist, for an estimated power increase of 6.66 hp and 6.18 lb-ft. Of course, your individual results may vary, due the mileage, modifications, and condition of your specific bike.

The K&N 63-1130 AirCharger Performance Intake System provides an estimated power increase of 6.66 hp and 6.18 lb-ft

K&N Dominates at Goodguys Del Mar Autocross

K&N sponsored drivers attended the Goodguys Del Mar Autocross

There were several K&N sponsored drivers that attended the Goodguys Del Mar Autocross, pitting across from the K&N truck and trailer

Goodguys Rod and Custom Association recently held their 16th Meguiar’s Del Mar Nationals in Del Mar, California. K&N’s truck and trailer was present, displaying vehicles and product throughout the weekend. K&N’s prime spot across from the autocross pits played an important role as several K&N sponsored drivers took to the autocross early Friday morning shaking down their vehicles for the two-day race.

K&N driver Mike Maier 1966 Mustang

K&N driver Mike Maier works to navigate the recent changes to his 1966 Mustang

K&N driver Mike Maier brought out his 1966 Mustang, while Jane Thurmond brought out her 1964 K&N sponsored Corvette. Both K&N drivers would be competing against each other in the Street Machine Class for a chance to win first place and move into the Pro Class.  Once these drivers move into the Pro Class, they can start accumulating points in hopes of competing at the final autocross shootout at the end of the year.  The more points a driver accumulates, the better chance they have at claiming a spot into the Duel in the Desert Shootout in November.

Wilwood 1966 Mustang

The Wilwood 1966 Mustang racked up a lot of miles with three different drivers throughout the two-day race

Jake Rozelle left his 1969 K&N sponsored Camaro at home in place of his 1965 Corvette.  Jake, who’s already in Pro Class, has started to accumulate points towards earning him a spot at the end-of-the-year shootout.  Jake has not spent much time behind the wheel of the ’65 Vette.  He started the race season in the K&N equipped ’69 Camaro at the Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car Series at Thunderhill Raceway.  Jake also owns a K&N equipped 2003 Z06 Corvette that he recently purchased as his daily driver.  Since Goodguys Del Mar included an all American Sunday, Jake brought out the 2003 Vette with the hope of scoring a win in the All American Class at the autocross.

Jane Thurmond and her 1964 K&N sponsored Corvette

Jane Thurmond and her 1964 K&N sponsored Corvette took first in the Street Machine Class, moving her into Pro Class

There were several other K&N equipped vehicles scattered throughout the autocross pits, including Scott Fraser and Bruce Camber with their 1966 authentic Cobra and the Wilwood 1966 Mustang, driven by Mike Hamrick, Mike Maier and Chris Smith.

Friday and Saturday brought some tough competition. The autocross course had no traction Friday morning, but improved throughout Friday and into Saturday and as the course got better, drivers got faster. The Street Machine class included forty-four drivers.  Maier’s recent changes to the Mustang left him struggling to keep in the top five in the Street Machine Class.  Maier was also playing double duty, not only racing his ’66 Mustang, but also taking the wheel of Wilwood 1966 Mustang.

Scott Fraser could be seen behind the wheel of Bruce Cambern’s authentic 1966 Cobra

Scott Fraser could be seen behind the wheel of Bruce Cambern’s authentic 1966 Cobra, which was recently upgraded with a K&N air filter

Jane Thurmond in her K&N sponsored Corvette took the lead in the Street Machine Class early Friday and remained in the top three throughout the weekend.  Within the last two runs, Jane managed to widen the gap between first and second, claiming the first place win in her class.

Scott Fraser, driver of Bruce Cambern’s 1966 Cobra, fought hard to win first in the Pro Class.  Scott bounced between first and second place as Mary Pozzi and her 1973 Camaro put up a good fight throughout the weekend.  Scott took the lead early Saturday afternoon and remained in first until official timing ended.  Scott and the 1966 Cobra have claimed several wins in the Pro Class throughout the past couple months including the win at Goodguys Scottsdale and Goodguys Pleasanton.  It will be interesting to watch the Cobra continue throughout the race season and see if Scott is able to accumulate enough points to be crowned the Goodguys Autocross Points Champion for the 2016 season.

Jake Rozelle All American Class with this 2003 Z06 Corvette

Jake Rozelle was the final K&N driver to take home a first place win in the All American Class with this 2003 Z06 Corvette

K&N driver Jake Rozelle took home a first place in the All American Class on Sunday.  Jake’s 2003 Corvette is typically his daily driver, but recent modifications have made the Corvette very competitive.  We will be watching to see if Jake sets the 1969 Camaro aside for the remainder of the season and continues to race in the 2003 Corvette, or will the 1964 Corvette be the vehicle of choice throughout the remainder of the year.

Overall K&N was well represented as three K&N equipped vehicles took home wins in their respective classes.  We will continue to watch as these K&N drivers race throughout the 2016 season in several different series, including SCCA, Optima’s Search for the Ultimate Street Car Series, Goodguys Autocross, and a handful of smaller race events.
