Ducati Panigale K&N Oil Filter Gives an Ultimate Superbike the Ultimate Protection It Deserves

If one must have the ultimate superbike for the street, then that machine must have the ultimate powersports cartridge oil filter. We are talking about the Ducati Panigale and the K&N KN-159 replacement oil filter. For the four years that this motorcycle has been on the road and blazing around the track, it has arguably been the most desirable bike in production.

2011 Ducati 1199 Panigale

At the time of its release in late 2011, the Ducati 1199 Panigale was the most powerful two-cylinder motorcycle in production

This motorcycle filled every tick-box on the enthusiast's design, engineering and performance wish list, and contributed to healthier Ducati sales figures worldwide in 2014 and 2015. For 2016, further refinements gave both the Panigale 959 and the 1299 more horsepower, less weight, and more opportunity for racers, sport riders and high-performance commuters to push their Ducati experience (and engine) to the limit.

Part of the engineering story for this bike is the replacement of Ducati's signature belt driven overhead cams with a valvetrain driven by gears and chain. It is natural that this engine's more mechanical innards could use a replacement oil filter like the KN-159 K&N replacement oil filter to help keep the lubricants flowing efficiently and at maximum capacity. Oil service for the Panigale is suggested at 7,500 to 9,000 miles, and those miles can roll up quickly when you're having fun.

KN-159 Cartridge Oil Filter for Ducati Panigale motorcycles

The KN-159's premium filter media meets or exceeds OE specifications for removing contaminants while providing superior oil flow, which is important for Ducati Panigale engines

The KN-159 Powersports Cartridge Oil Filter is a drop-in design, sized to fit in the existing factory housing. The premium filter media meets or exceed OE specifications for removing wear-producing contaminants while providing superior oil flow, especially with the synthetic oils specified for this engine. K&N also provides a limited warranty for defects in material and workmanship; reviewers have praised the filter's construction and affordability.

The KN-159 will replace this OEM filter:

Heroes Helping Heroes at Team Overland

Team Overland 2016 Toyota 4Runner equipped with K&N 63-9034 intake ki

The newest vehicle for Team Overland is this 2016 Toyota 4Runner, equipped with, among other things, a K&N 63-9034 intake kit.

Imagine being 18 years old, fresh out of the hardest training of your life, and on a flight in a C130, on your way fight terrorists on their turf. That is a pretty scary thought for most people. For others, that is a reality that is becoming all too common. After spending months and sometimes years overseas, members of the U.S. armed forces are expected to come home and be normal, functioning members of society. After leaving the battlefields, these American heroes are left to battle internal struggles of post-traumatic stress disorder, or PTSD.

Team Overland 2016 Toyota 4Runner equipped with Cascadia Roof Top Vehicle Tents

Matthew recently finished overhauling this trailer to be able to take on expeditions. On top of the trailer and the 4Runner are Cascadia Roof Top Vehicle Tents. These enable Team Overland and anyone they take camping to be able to sleep up, off the ground.

Once called shell shock or battle fatigue, PTSD is a trauma and stressor-related disorder according to the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders. PTSD is caused by a stressful or traumatic experience in someone's life. After these events, sufferers can experience flash backs, memory loss, psychological sensitivity, insomnia, outbursts of anger, and other frightening symptoms. Definitely not something we want the protectors of our freedom to have to endure.

Team Overland helps soldiers and disabled vets

Team Overland helps not only soldiers suffering from internal battle scars, but also those who were physically wounded in combat. Here he is helping a wounded vet up to a lookout point on one of Team Overland's expeditions.

Traumatic and stressful events are almost an everyday occurrence for soldiers overseas, so it is no surprise that an alarming rate of PTSD sufferers are coming home. With little to no help for them, the effects of PTSD can lead to anxiety, depression, and even suicide. However, thanks to non-profit organizations around the country, more veterans are receiving help with their PTSD.

One of these organizations is a non-profit that uses off-roading, hiking, and camping as a way for veterans to cope with the effects of PTSD. Team Overland was founded in 2015 by US Marine Corps Corporal Matthew Havniear. After spending 10 months fighting in Afghanistan, Matthew came home and was diagnosed with PTSD, traumatic brain injury, and post-concussion syndrome. After trying to seek clinical help, Matthew decided to take his love for outdoors that his late father instilled in him and turn it into a way to give back to his brothers and sisters. Team Overland offers guided, overland expeditions to veterans suffering from not only mental disorders, but also physically wounded soldiers as well. To give the veterans something to take home and be able to integrate into their everyday lives, Team Overland also ties stress management techniques into their trips.

Team Overland Founder and Executive Director, Matthew Havniear posing with the K&N intake that will soon go on his 4Runner.

To effectively carry out these expeditions, Matthew was in need of a vehicle that he could take out into the woods with no trouble but could also carry passengers and gear. To do this, he picked up a 2016 Toyota 4Runner. While the 4Runner in its stock form is fairly capable off-highway, Matthew will be pushing the limits with it and needs it to be able to handle more than just a casual dirt road. He is currently in the process of building the vehicle and came to K&N for assistance with getting it breathing better. To help, we provided Matthew with a K&N 63-9034 air intake system for the 4Runner.

We will continue to follow the build of Team Overland's newest rig, so be sure to check back in for the finished product. For more information on Team Overland, visit them at teamoverland.org. If you or someone you know is suffering from PTSD, visit the National Institute of Mental Health at nimh.nih.gov for resources to combat this debilitating disorder.

Ryan Partridge takes the lead in the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Tucson Speedway. He led a race-high 127 laps in the NAPA Auto Parts Wildcat 150.

"It was probably the easiest race of my life," Partridge said. "When the car is that hooked up on a track like this where you have to save a substantial amount of tire, you are driving Miss Daisy for half the race. You are on a Sunday cruise. When it's hooked up that much, you can't back it up enough."

Partridge won the second race of his NASCAR K&N Pro Series West career. He won his first race at Colorado National Speedway in 2015. At Tucson Speedway, Partridge won the pole and led a race-high 127 laps.

"At the end we had something to contend for the lead," Partridge said. "Of course we had a green-white-checkered. That's just racing. I don't care how much of a lead, how many laps, you're always going to end in a green-white-checkered. Especially when you're leading, right?"

Gilliland won the first two races of the K&N Pro Series West season. The first was at Irwindale Speedway to start the season. His second came at Kern County Raceway Park in April. He also won the 2015 K&N Pro Series West season finale at Phoenix International Raceway in Arizona in November. Gilliland's runner-up finish at Tucson was the first of his career in the K&N Pro Series West.

"I was just giving it all I had," Gilliland said. "That's pretty much all you can do in a green-white-checkered like that. You never know what's going to happen. There's so much that can happen. It was good coming up with second. I am happy with that."

Gilliland has a four-point lead over Partridge in the K&N Pro Series West standings after three races.

Ryan Partridge won the pole and led for the first 10 laps of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series West race at Tucson Speedway in Arizona.

"We are all getting better as we go," Gilliland said. "I definitely learned from this and I am looking forward to the next track like this."

Chris Eggleston, Gilliland's teammate at Bill McAnally Racing and the reigning K&N Pro Series West champion, was third.

"That last restart I thought was going to play into our favor, restarting on the bottom," Eggleston said. "We had the lead there for just a little bit, coming out of four for the white flag. I was like, man, we got a shot. It was a great race."

Cole Rouse was fourth, followed by Julia Landauer in fifth.

The next K&N Pro Series West race is the Sunrise Ford 150 at the Orange Show Speedway in California on May 21.

Austin Cindric places a sticker on his car after winning the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Virginia International Raceway

Austin Cindric won the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East race at Virginia International Raceway and added to his family's legacy in motorsports. He is the 17-year-old son of Tim Cindric, the president of Team Penske, winner of 16 Indianapolis 500 races and 13 IndyCar Series championships. The younger Cindric is making a name for himself in sports car racing. Now he can add NASCAR race winner to his resume.

Austin Cindric led the last three laps of the Biscuitville 125, a 55-lap road course race, to capture his first NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win in his debut. He passed Justin Haley after the final restart on lap 51. It took a couple laps for Cindric, who won the pole and led the first 26 laps of the race, to maneuver around Haley.

"My whole goal as a driver is to set myself apart from other drivers," Cindric said after winning the race on Saturday. "For me it's about being a race car driver. To be able to continue to show how diverse I am, not only how diverse I am, how I can be successful, it's a great experience to be able to do that. I am very lucky I am able to do that."

It was the second NASCAR K&N Pro Series East win in a row for Martin-McClure Racing. Chad Finchum won the previous K&N Pro Series East race at Bristol Motor Speedway in Tennessee for the team owned by NASCAR XFINITY Series drivers Hal Martin and Eric McClure. McClure has been adjusting well to his new role as team owner. He had to step out of the race car in the XFINITY Series in 2013 because of injuries and has run partial race schedules since then.

"I always felt like ownership was the next logical step," McClure said. "I feel like I am a competitive person. I thought that was the way to satisfy the drive to compete. I will be honest with you, my accidents and medical struggles have been well-documented over the last few years. My body was telling me it was time to do something different."

McClure started one NASCAR XFINITY Series race in 2016, the season opener at Daytona International Speedway in Florida in February. Since then, he has concentrated on running the NASCAR K&N Pro Series East team with some unanticipated success.

"This has given me great purpose and excitement and fun," McClure said. "Honestly, I started racing late in my life. My family made me go to college. I moved up really fast and had a really nice career. But none of that has ever felt like this. I really sit here and feel like this is the most amazing thing and the transition has been made so much easier. I am enjoying the transition."

Haley was the runner-up and posted his fourth top-five finish in five K&N Pro Series East races. He moved into a tie with Kyle Benjamin for the lead in the K&N Pro Series East standings.

"I believe all racing has the same fundamentals," Haley said. "We're doing something right. It can only get better from here. I'm only going to get better from here. I am happy about that."

Austin Theriault was third, followed by Benjamin in fourth and Ronnie Bassett Jr. in fifth. Benjamin has four top-five finishes in five K&N Pro Series East races.

The next race in the K&N Pro Series East is the ComServe Memorial Day Classic at Dominion Raceway, in Woodford, Virginia on May 30.

Luke Bogacki hit a winning streak at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway. In his K&N Filters backed dragster, he won his first event of the season and watched one of his cars dominate another event. Bogacki won the main event and $20,000 at the weeklong Spring Fling event in Las Vegas. Dan Fletcher, driving one of Bogacki's K&N Filters Super Comp dragsters, won at the DENSO Spark Plugs NHRA Nationals.

Fletcher Las Vegas: Dan Fletcher won the Super Comp Division at the NHRA national event at The Strip in Las Vegas. It was the 96th NHRA event victory of his career.

For Fletcher, it was his first win in the Super Comp division and his 96th NHRA Nationals event victory. He beat Steve Williams in the final. Fletcher and Bogacki met in the quarterfinals. Fletcher won with a 0.001 reaction time and a 9.049-second run.

"My own success thus far this season has been incredible," Bogacki said. "But watching Dan win might be my highlight so far. I know that winning in Super Comp was a big deal for him, and when Jessica and I offered him the car, we told him that we'd love to be a part of his first 8.90 win. The car was incredible as usual – obviously it's been the breadwinner thus far this season – and Dan was flawless as well. It was great to see it all come together."

Bogacki won 15 consecutive rounds at the races in Las Vegas in the Division 7 Lucas Oil event. He finally lost to Jeff Verdi in Round 6. He ran his wife Jessica's American Race Cars dragster in another event and advanced to the fifth round.

Luke Huntsville winner circle: Luke Bogacki, driving one of his K&N Filters backed dragsters, won $25,000 at the Ultimate Series drag races in Huntsville, Ala.

"It was all sort of a whirlwind," Bogacki said. "Obviously the car performed flawlessly thanks to American Race Cars and all the manufacturers that we depend on for product, it all came together. The trip out there was actually a lot of fun. .. Having some success on the race track is just icing on the cake."

Bogacki has a four-car drag racing team, built by American Race Cars and backed by K&N Filters. He started the 2016 season at the DragRaceResults.com Ultimate Series in Huntsville, Alabama, in March. In his wife's new dragster, he advanced to the final nine cars and came out as the leader in the season-long Ultimate Series standings. The season champion wins an American Race Cars dragster valued at more than $35,000. He won the last race of the event and $25,000.

"Considering that was our first weekend of competition in general, obviously I would have loved to debut the new car with a victory, but I'm not going to complain," Bogacki said.

Spring Fling winner circle: Luke Bogacki, in his K&N Filters backed dragster, won $20,000 at the Spring Fling drag races at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

One of his cars is brand new. His team put it together during the off-season. Even though it was a new dragster, Bogacki said he was confident it would be competitive from the start. American Race Cars helped assemble the car. Bogacki said American Race Cars built his last dragster and his last eight cars.

"It's just kind of tedious to get all of that stuff just right," Bogacki said. "I felt like when we debuted it, it's not only a very competitive car, that it's a candidate for best spring car, best engineered car."

Bogacki is coming off a successful 2015 season. The two-time NHRA national champion won three Super Comp national events, at Brainerd, Minnesota, St. Louis, and the US Nationals at Indianapolis. He won 29 consecutive rounds in the Super Comp division. He also won drag racing events over the winter at Valdosta, Georgia, Bradenton, Florida, and West Palm Beach, Florida.

Vegas Starting Line: Luke Bogacki won 15 consecutive rounds in the Spring Fling event at The Strip at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Bogacki and his team are headed to events at Norwalk, Ohio, Bowling Green, Kentucky, and Chicago in the next few weeks. He is looking forward to the next three events because they have been successful tracks for his team in the past.

"We will be pretty busy in the next three or four weeks," Bogacki said. "The goal is to find some success and continue earning points toward another NHRA championship."

Having K&N Filters for support has been a huge part of Bogacki's team success. He said the K&N air filters are the best products on the market and his partnership with K&N has been fruitful.

"It's grown over the years to where it's a huge part of what we do," Bogacki said. "It is so entrenched, they probably support our sport as much or more than any other manufacturer. They obviously make the best components for what we do; their support has been a huge, huge part of our success."
