K&N Banners, Metal Signs, Decals and Apparel Make for Great Decorations

K&N metal sign

This K&N metal sign would be the crowning touch for any rec room, man cave, garage or shop.

Kids used to ride their Schwinn Sting Ray bikes to the local full-service gas station and beg the attendant for stickers. Anything automotive was acceptable: oils, fluids, tires, whatever. But the real gems were the stickers from the brands heavily involved in auto racing. Times have changed, but the desire remains among enthusiasts to be connected with brands participating in motorsports. And it's no longer stickers plastered to a banana seat, but metal signs, calendars, and banners for the walls of garages, rec rooms, man caves, and even offices that today's enthusiasts seek.

NASCAR K&N Pro Series banner

A must-have for fans of the NASCAR K&N Pro Series, this banner can be hung on the wall or displayed at the race track.

A must have, and a good first item for a new collection, is the K&N 89-11839, a 72-inch by 42-inch nylon screen print banner with metal grommets in each of the four corners as well as one top center and another bottom center for a sag-free installation. It looks great in garages and shops as the size is proportional to the amount of empty wall space.

embroidered K&N patch

The K&N 89-0019 is an embroidered K&N patch that can spruce up that old jacket you have hanging in the back of the closet.

If your preference is for a metal signs, either for aesthetics or for durability, K&N has two options for you to consider. First is the K&N logo metal sign, part number 89-11837-2. The metal sign is 20 inches wide by 9 inches tall and features the K&N logo embossed in color. If you're looking for a little more flash, the same sized metal sign is available with the K&N logo and the caption "Superior Airflow. Superior Performance." That sign is part number 89-11837-2. Each sign already has small holes drilled in each corner so it can be pinned or nailed-up for display. Two strips of double-sided tape are also included as a mounting option.

If you're a fan of the K&N NASCAR Pro Series - East or West - a primary stepping stones for young drivers fighting to move up to the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, K&N has a banner for you. The part number is 89-11843, and it's a 72-inch by 42-inch nylon screen print banner featuring the official K&N NASCAR Pro Series logo. Mount it in your garage or man cave, or roll it up and stash it in your RV so you can display it proudly at the next race you attend.

K&N stickers and decal kit

If you are looking to sticker up your toolbox, garage fridge, or fender, K&N has a large selection of decals, like 89-11831 which is a collection of 7 decals.

So the time is now. You may have missed out of that one sticker you wanted for your bike as a kid, but you can make up for it by ordering the K&N metal signs, banners, and calendars that will perfectly complement your man cave, rec room, shop, garage, RV, or office.

Matt Long's Career in Late Model Dirt Track Racing Brings Wins in SECA, FUEL and Fastrak

Matt Long dirt track racing in SECA, FUEL and Fastrak

Matt Long, #55, takes on a rival in a late model Dirt Track race.

37-year-old, Concord, North Carolina resident Matt Long is immersed in racing. Not only does he compete in late model dirt track racing events from West Virginia to Georgia, he also is involved in the business of racing as the Senior Director of Business Development at Charlotte Motor Speedway in Concord, North Carolina. He has been selling sponsorships and luxury seats tickets for the track for 12 years.

On weekends, when there are no races scheduled at Charlotte, he's off racing with his team. He tries to compete in 35 to 40 races a year that are sanctioned by a variety of organizations including SECA, FUEL, and Fastrak. He also participates in a few unsanctioned events. He has earned more than 20 wins during his racing career.

Because of his job, it is difficult for him to compete for points championships. However, he does focus on three to four major events a year including the Outlaw Showdown held at Charlotte Speedway during the weekend of the Coke 600; the Shriners Benefit events; the Pro Nationals on Labor Day weekend at the Wythe Raceway in Rural Retreat, Virginia; and the Fasttrak Grand Nationals at the Virginia Motor Speedway, in Jamaica, Virginia.

His most memorable racing moments include being a two-time winner of the Shrine 100 at the Carolina Speedway, in Gastonia, North Carolina, and winning several Fastrak Regional Touring Events. Born in Cambridge, Ohio, Long's first memories are watching his father, Tye Long, race late models.

"I went with my grandparents to the race track to watch my dad race. He would race two to three nights a week," said Long. His dad raced for 25 years and won about 300 races. "I grew up in a racing family," he continued. "I didn't race myself until much later, but I got involved in my father's team recruiting and working with sponsors and helping to maintain the car."

His work on his dad's team was instrumental in his decision to study the business of racing in college and to go on to graduate school at Ohio University, where he received two masters degrees –- one in Sports Administration and the other in Business.

Part of the graduate school requirements was enrolling in a two to three month internship. He satisfied the requirement working in the Corporate Sales Department at Charlotte Motor Speedway. The track hired him fulltime after he earned his degree.

He started racing after getting the job with the speedway and "got some money in my pocket," he said. His racing team, Matt Long Racing, includes friends and family, some of whom have made their own mark in racing.

The group includes his wife, Amber Long and their 2-year-old daughter Madison. The crew chief is Matthew Logan, who is also the Dirt Market Specialist for JRi Shocks, and has done some late model racing; Brian Lambert, who was a dirt track racer; and Travis Bennett, a graduate of NASCAR Technical school.

Companies sponsoring Long include K&N Filters, Mello Yello, Circle K Convenience Stores, Polar Pop, Heintz Brothers Performance, Team Clay, FK Rod Ends, VP Racing Fuels, Fragola Performance Systems, Port City Racing, Keyser Manufacturing, JRi Shocks, Stock Car Steel & Aluminum, SRI Supplies, Flag to Flag, Accu-Force, Hoosier Tire South, Dirtwrap, Jim Cook Transmissions, ButlerBuilt, and Simpson.

Long added that K&N Filters has been sponsoring him for 9 years. "I've been using their big 14 x 5 air cleaner filters and their valve cover breathers," he said. "I've had great results with the products. I have a great relationship with those guys."

He volunteered that his dad used K&N racing products, but was not sponsored by the company. He added, "I learned how to clean K&N air filters when I was 8 years old."

Long noted that there are about 25 more races on his schedule including the Shrine 100, the Pro Nationals, and the Fasttrak Grand Nationals. He plans to continue racing after this season. "I plan to race as long as I have the fortitude to do it, I can afford to do it, and as long as I have the time to do it," he concluded.

Formula Drift Driver Vaughn Gittin Jr. Off to Fast Start in New Ford Mustang

Caption

Vaughn Gittin Jr. giving the fans some three wheeled action in his K&N Filters equipped Ford Mustang

In his K&N Filters backed Ford Mustang, Vaughn Gittin Jr. won the Formula Drift event at Road Atlanta and moved into first place in the Pro standings. He lead was short-lived after the Formula Drift event at Orlando Speedworld, in Florida, but Gittin Jr. is off to a good start. His team has a new car and it didn't take long for Gittin Jr. to find his comfort zone and the first-place spot on the podium.

Caption

Dominant in Atlanta, Gittin Jr. left all of his competitors in a haze of smoke as he slid into first place for his first win of the 2016 season.

"This year we debuted our new Mustang," Gittin Jr. said. "We've been developing and building this car all last year. It's a new S550 Mustang. Atlanta was just our second event with it following testing and development. I was feeling really good and connected with the car. It was just amazing."

Gittin Jr. had a successful run at Road Atlanta, in Georgia, in May. He won all four of his rounds including against Daijiro Yoshihara in the final. Gittin Jr. won in the first round against Geoff Stoneback. He beat Tyler McQuarrie in the quarterfinals and Chris Forsberg in the semifinals. He said his run against Forsberg was the most competitive.

"I already knew we were on the podium," Gittin Jr. said. "I had just beaten Chris Forsberg, who I was positive it was going to be my hardest battle of the night. I was just in that zone. I knew immediately that Dai was not going to be able to beat me. I had that feeling. When we have that feeling, we're pretty tough to beat."

Gittin Jr. called Yoshihara one of his biggest rivals. The two have been racing against each since 2004 in Formula Drift.

"Without a doubt we were the dominant force that weekend," Gittin Jr. said. "Honestly, we hope to have more of those this year."

Caption

According to Vaughn, the most important aspect to an engine is air and fuel. K&N Filters helps him on the air side of things.

In Round 3 of the Formula Drift season in Orlando, on June 4, Gittin Jr. was off to a similar start. He was the number 1 seed and he said his Ford Mustang was running as good as it did in Atlanta. But his team didn't have the right tire strategy for the Orlando track and it caused him to run into problems during his runs.

"We were pretty dominant in Orlando early on," Gittin Jr. said. "We qualified first again. I was thinking to myself, man could this be a repeat? I was feeling really good, I was driving pretty fast."

But the length of the course caused severe tire wear. Gittin Jr. miscalculated how the track was wearing on his tires and he lost traction during his second-round run. He lost to Jhonnattan Castro, the number 17 seed, in the quarterfinals. Gittin Jr. admitted that he probably drove the car harder than he should have during his runs.

Caption

With a fast car, good lines, and a great team Gittin Jr. was able to take his first victory of the season at Road Atlanta, in Georgia.

"Tire wear was a real big challenge for all the teams because of how long the course was, how aggressive you had to drive it," Gittin Jr. said. "I had basically used up all my tire. When I went to drive the car off-bank, it just wouldn't go. I saved the car from going off course, but my competitor, he opened up a nice gap. I just wasn't able to close it."

The next stop on the Formula Drift schedule is at Wall Speedway, in New Jersey, starting on June 17. Gittin Jr. enters the event in second place and 12 points behind Fredric Aasbo, the leader in the Formula Drift Pro standings. Aasbo took over the lead in the standings after winning the Formula Drift event in Orlando.

"We're definitely in a really, really good place at this point in the season and I am feeling pretty awesome," Gittin Jr. said.

He added that K&N Air Filters have played a big role in his team's success, especially in the team's new car. Gittin Jr. doesn't only use K&N products in his race cars, but other vehicles he has.

"I put them on everything," Gittin Jr. said. "The thing with our sport is your constantly driving and your engine is essentially sucking in rubber. We use the best air filters in the world for a reason. We make sure there is clean air going in our engines at all times. Air and fuel are the most important things in the engine. K&N has been a big part in our success any time our car starts up."

2015, 2016 Ford Mustang GT K&N Blackhawk Induction Air Intake System Raises Horsepower

K&N Blackhawk intake system for 2015-2016 Mustang GT

Solve your 2015-2016 Mustang GT's gas crisis with a K&N Blackhawk intake system

When the current Mustang was launched as a 2015 model, it was a game changer. Not only did the styling take the Mustang theme several steps into the future, there were a number of improvements in the drivetrain, the structure was more robust, and for the first time, an independent rear suspension came as standard equipment. The V8 engine of the GT, evolved from the DOHC Coyote motor, now produced 435 horsepower and 400 lb-ft. of torque, squeezed from a motor barely 5.0 liters in capacity (pretty impressive as that's about as much power as the Ford factory race team managed for the full-race 1970 SCCA Trans-Am Series Boss 302). Ford states that the 435 horsepower was recorded running 93 octane fuel. The engine is capable of running on 87 octane, Ford says, but with a reduction of horsepower.

2015-2016 Mustang GT

The 2015-2016 Ford Mustang GT is in a class of its own and can now breathe better and more air thanks to the K&N 71-3535 Black intake system.

If you own a 2015 or 2016 Ford Mustang GT and you're tired of paying through the nose for premium gasoline, K&N has a solution: the 71-3535 Blackhawk induction air system that increases both the power and the torque of your 'Stang, no matter whether you fill-up with premium or regular.

The K&N 71-3535 cold air intake system replaces the restrictive factory air filter and air intake housing on 2015 and 2016 Ford Mustang GT models. It functions by both lowering restriction to air flow (by replacing the narrow factory system) as well as increasing the volume of oxygen fed into your Mustang's motor. The engine's ECU recognizes the increase in available oxygen and adjusts the amount of fuel the injectors squirt into each cylinder. More oxygen combined with more fuel make for a more powerful combustion inside the cylinder, raising both horsepower and torque.

But by how much? In dyno testing, an otherwise stock 2015 Mustang GT recorded a rear-wheel increase of an estimated 18.68 horsepower and 11.41 ft-lb of torque, the only difference between the two was the installation of a K&N 71-3535 intake system.

The K&N Blackhawk induction system is designed to be both efficient and stylish. All components are black, to maintain a premium appearance under the hood, including the K&N Dryflow air filter with heat shield. The attractive textured black powder-coated intake tube features an engraved K&N plate welded to the pipe so when you raise the hood on cruise night, everyone can see you bought the original and the best in high performance filtration.

K&N Blackhawk intake system for 2015-2016 Mustang GT

All components needed to install a Blackhawk Induction Air Intake System all come in the box

Installation takes about 90 minutes, as the 71-3535 intake system is engineered to attach via the existing factory mounting points and the kit includes all required hardware. Nothing complicated or unique is required for installation - just tools commonly found in most tool boxes. The intake tube has all the appropriate connections for the factory mass airflow (MAF) sensor as well as the crankcase vent, idle bypass, and EVAP connection.

The oversized cone shaped air filter is made from K&N's Dryflow oil-free synthetic filter media that can be driven up to 100,000 miles (depending upon your conditions) before cleaning is required. And cleaning requires only K&N's 99-0624 synthetic air filter cleaner, which comes in a convenient pump spray bottle. Just spray on to loosen dirt and grime and rinse with water. No need to re-oil the filter. Once dry, it can go back in the car. And the filter is designed to last for the lifetime of your Mustang, which K&N guarantees will perform for up to 10 years or 1,000,000 miles without requiring replacement. For full details visit the K&N Million Mile Limited Warranty page.

The 71-3535 Blackhawk intake system fits the following vehicles:
2016 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L V8
2015 Ford Mustang GT 5.0L V8

You can view all the air intakes that K&N makes for the Ford Mustang GT at the Air Intake Systems for the Ford Mustang GT page and all the air filters that K&N makes for the Ford Mustang GT at the Air Filters for the Ford Mustang GT page. You can view all the K&N performance products for any vehicle by using the Search by Vehicle tool and you can find a local K&N retailer by plugging your location into the K&N Dealer Search as well.

Brad Deberti at Lucas Oil Off Road Series is the Definition of Hard Work and Dedication

Brad Deberti in Lucas Oil Off Road Series

Brad battling through turn one for position.

In racing the best way to become a better driver is to spend as much time as possible in the car, driving, but even though you are driving you may still not have the racing mentality. The only way to fully get into the racing mentality is to actually be in a race. Brad Deberti is a strong believer that practice makes you stronger.

Brad Deberti wins Lucas Oil Off Road Series

The podium of Brad's first race and his first win.

Brad started racing Pro Lites in the Lucas Oil Off Road Racing Series in 2015. In his first two races in the national series he won, sweeping the weekend. This is the first time someone has won the first two rounds in their rookie season in Lucas Oil Off Road Series. Brad had the lead in points for half of the season until he had a bad crash at Estero Beach, Mexico, where he was hospitalized. Brad missed a few rounds of racing in which he lost the lead in points, but he still won Rookie of the Year in Pro Lite. One of the reasons Brad has had this success is through hard work and practice. Brad and his father Doug would go to the track as often as they could, trying to get in the truck at least three times a month and getting the most seat time that they could.

This year you will find Brad at the Lucas Oil Regionals Series using the prepped track for great practice and a good amount of seat time. Brad races his Support the Troops, Deegan 38, and K&N Filters Pro Lite, along with driving in the Pro Production UTV class in his Cognito Motorsports Polaris RZR 1000. The Pro UTV class has been mainly RZR 1000 until this year, when the Yamaha YXZ was introduced with more than 30 additional horsepower and a sequential five speed transmission to give it a huge advantage over the RZR. With this type of an advantage Brad doesn't get the choice to drive smarter or harder, he has to do them both. In Round 4 of the regional series, Brad had great success in his RZR and he was able to work his way up to the top five and finished in fourth place. This is the first time this season that a RZR has finished in the top 5 against the Yamahas. With this being his first top 5 finish, you can find Brad in third place in the points race.

Brad uses the regionals for practice in the Pro Lite to try new set ups on the truck. Brad qualified second, but Doug and Brad decided the best way to push Brad is to start in the back for the start of the race. This would make Brad think how to work his way through traffic and get towards the front. Doug said "Pushing Brad to do better is easy, because Brad is so motivated to be better. Not only as a driver, but also mentally and physically. He puts 110% of his life into it, from what he eats to how he trains. It makes it fun to be a part of that, it is more of helping Brad strive for his goals." With the start of the race Brad did exactly what they wanted to, working his way through the field avoiding contact with the other drivers and anticipating what they may do. Brad was able to work through all the traffic and make it to the front, where he held on for the win. Brad is also leading the Pro Lite points battle.

Normally Brad would be done with his race weekend, but Jason Weller came over after qualifying to ask if Brad would fill in for a driver in the SR1 class. Jason is the main person behind the SR1 class pushing it forward. Jason asked Brad to fill in for the points leader, who got injured during a crash in qualifying. The SR1 crew looked at Jason with questionable looks on their face, thinking he has never driven one of these before. Brad said, "When someone asks me to drive it is a compliment because it shows they have trust in my driving. My first two thoughts that popped up in my head was, do I fit? Second, is the car prepped well? If I fit and its prepped well it is always a go if I'm comfortable." Brad hopped into the SR1 with only enough time to do a quick pass in the parking lot to get used to it. Brad would have to start at the back of the 20 SR1's in the field. Getting used to the shifter and the handling of the car took a few laps to get used to. Once he got comfortable with it, he started working his way through traffic. Brad was able to get all the way up to third by the end of the race. This showed the SR1 team that Jason had chosen the correct man to fill in for their driver. Brad battled through the traffic for a first, third, and a fourth, giving Brad great practice and a lot of great seat time.

This helped Brad head into Utah for rounds 5 and 6 of the national series in his Pro Lite. With the high altitude of the track, Brad said, "K&N air filters help me win races because it's all about the air. It allows my motor to pull in the air it needs to get optimum horsepower." Brad was able to battle for the lead for several laps and then battled for the third spot. While battling for third the two drivers put on an amazing show with the two trucks going around the track side by side, going through the turns and flying through the air to finish on the podium in third place. Brad is a good example of hard work, practice, and plenty of seat time is the best way to become a great racer.
