K&N Engineering’s custom 18-wheeler is on the road again, this time it was at
the Long Beach Convention Center just in time for the 2006 Long Beach Grand
Prix.
Spike TV's Power Block Host Courtney Hansen
At least 180,000 people attend the Grand Prix with around 25,000 stopping
at the K&N booth during the three day event. The Speed Zone Girls signed
autographs along with racers Vaugh Gitten Jr. and Terry Borcheller to name a
few.
Borcheller runs our stock air filter with Brian Nott’s new Blackforest Racing
Ford Mustang. He was sixth, only 17 seconds away from the win at the Grand-Am
Cup Series at Daytona. The 39-year-old racer said he uses K&N because of the
performance gain and fuel economy. Borcheller has 57 Professional Race wins in 7
series at 20 tracks. K&N has been part of my racing life since I saw the K&N
sticker for the first time when I was 5-years-old, said Brocheller.
Spike TV Power Block show host Courtney Hansen was also signing autographs at
the K&N booth in Long Beach. “Courtney is an avid K&N user,” said K&N
Engineering, Inc. Truck and Trailer Specialist Tony Yorkman. “She puts our
products in her 2004 Ford Thunderbird.”
The K&N truck and trailer can be seen at races and events throughout the United
States from February through November. Everyone who visits and opts to fill out
a survey has the opportunity to win a K&N Intake System. “We gave away 6 free
K&N Intake Systems at Long Beach,” said Yorkman. “People know the K&N name.” K&N
Intakes are engineered to work within your vehicle’s specifications while
maximizing power and allowing air to flow with little restriction.

The K&N Crew answered a lot of questions about the benefits of our
reusable filters. A K&N filter can perform for up to 100,000 miles before
service is required. K&N is the premier manufacturer of filtration products for
nearly every vehicle on and off the road. There is also a high-tech interactive
system in our booth that shows how K&N filters work.
In May the K&N 18-wheeler will be parked at the NHRA Sport Compact Nationals in
Englishtown, New Jersey and the IRL Indy 500 in Indianapolis Indiana.
Dragster racer Milt Gedo has knocked off a major event from his “to-do” list. The
37-year-old Pahrump, Nevada resident won Super Comp at the NHRA National Event
at Las Vegas Motor Speedway in April.
Super Comp Racer Milt Gedo at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
“Vegas, is my biggest single event win,” said Gedo. “My biggest overall
win was in 2003 when I took the Division 5 Super Comp Championship. That was for
being good an entire season. In Vegas, I was good for three days.”
The index in Las Vegas is 9.050. If you go under the index it is considered a
loss. “Chad Langdon got me on the starting line, but once we got close to the
finish he did not have enough power to come around me,” said Gedo. “Chad was 5
or 6 feet behind me and I just kept watching his car. I knew he was going to hit
the brakes and when I saw his nose go down I got on the brakes. I ended up
crossing the finish line 5 thousandths of a second ahead of him.”
For a fraction of a second Gedo thought Langdon was ahead of him. “When I saw
his nose go down out of the corner of my eye, I thought I lost. But my win light
came on,” said Gedo. “I let out a sigh of relief, whew.” Gedo’s car ran 9.055 on
the winning run.
The Division 7 racer uses K&N Engineering products. “I love the quality of K&N
filters,” said Gedo. “I use K&N air filters and K&N oil filters.” K&N’s Premium
Performance Gold Oil filter (HP-5001) has thick canister walls for extra
strength and durability. The walls reduce the risk of damage from loose rocks
and debris.
Sportsman Class Winners at Las Vegas Motor Speedway
Gedo said K&N oil filters are amazing. “The engine in my car is brand new.
When an engine is new it gets dirty fast and I do my oil change sooner than
later. There is usually a lot of metal stuff when things are breaking in
together,” said Gedo. “I ran Phoenix, then Tucson, and did the first oil change
in Vegas. I expected really dirty oil during the first oil change but when I
drained it and I was blown away. The oil looked like it was brand new. The K&N
filter really works at trapping debris.”
In a dragster frame the rails are right to the engine and it’s really a tight
squeeze. K&N Engineering’s Performance Gold Oil Filter (HP-5001) is designed
with drilled safety holes for racing and a sturdy one-inch wrench nut to make
oil filter removal quick and easy. “I love the K&N nut, the filter goes on quick
and comes off quick,” said Gedo.
Just for fun Gedo said he did an experiment with his K&N air filter. “I ran my
dragster with a K&N air filter and then took the filter off and ran my dragster
without the K&N air filter,” he said. “You really do get the protection without
losing performance with K&N.”
Gedo raced full time for the last several years, including Indy and Chicago.
“This year I’m cutting back on my traveling and staying in Division 7. It’s too
hard being away from my 5-year-old daughter, Marina,” said Gedo.
The next event on Gedo’s “to-do” list is a Boise, Idaho race in May, and then
Bakersfield, California.

It's third generation, longer, wider and distinguished from any previous Nissan
pickup. The wheelbase is 9.8 inches longer
than other models, with an overall length of 205.5 inches. The Frontier is
available in 4X4 and 4X2 configurations.
Replacement Air Filter for 2004 and 2005 Nissan Frontier
K&N Engineering, Inc. has designed a new lifetime replacement air filter (E-2020)
for the 2005 Nissan Frontier 2.5L L4 DSL and the 2004 Nissan Frontier 2.5L L4
DSL. This air filter, like all K&N lifetime replacement air
filters is designed to increase horsepower and acceleration while providing
excellent filtration. The height of K&N's
E-2020
is 9.055 inches (99mm) with a base outside diameter of 5.197 inches (132mm) for
the perfect fit.
The pleating on K&N filters increases the surface area, which then assists air
flow and extends service intervals. Unlike disposable filters, K&N Air Filters
use a unique pleated design comprised of an oiled cotton fabric.
This new filter was developed at K&N's United Kingdom facility.
The Frontier is a popular vehicle in the UK. Nissan
added more high-tech features to the Frontier that will assist off-roaders in
extreme conditions. Hill Descent Control (HDC) makes it easy to go downhill
without constantly hitting the brakes. Hill Start Assist (HAS) allows the driver
to stop up-slope, release the brake pedal and not roll back for up to two
seconds as the driver shifts a foot to the gas pedal.
K&N Diesel air filters capture airborne dirt particles while allowing a high volume air
flow. These particles then cling to the outside of the filter and become part of
the filtering media. Better dirt retention, better airflow and extended service
intervals are all benefits of using a K&N filter.
Also, K&N's stock replacement air filters for street vehicles are covered by our
famous K&N Million-Mile Limited Warranty and will be the last air filter your
vehicle will ever need.
Combine Japanese engineering with Swedish styling and the result is a great
little all wheel drive car called the Saab 9-2X. It's a marriage made in heaven and an
exceptional buy for a Saab. MSRP's remain unchanged in 2006 starting around
$22,990.
Replacement Air Filter for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Saab 9-2x
The Saab's sister is the Subaru WRX made by Fuji Heavy Industries, said
Saab of Santa Ana parts manager Scott Pritchett. "It's a great little car that's
smaller than the traditional Saab, but rides like a luxury Saab," he said.
K&N Engineering has released a new lifetime replacement air filter (33-2336)
for the 2005, 2006 and 2007 Saab 9-2X 2.0L H4 and 2.5L H4.
Saab of Santa Ana and Saab of Mission Viejo carry K&N products for Saab
customers. It's one of the few aftermarket parts we carry because K&N is a
product our customers want, said Pritchett.
"This Saab has the easiest engine to work on," said Pritchett. "It's a matter of
a few screws to add a K&N filter. The 9-2X goes hand in hand with K&N and our
sports car enthusiasts." The washable, reusable, high flow flat panel filter is
custom designed to fit in your factory air box. Simply remove the disposable
filter and replace it with a K&N.

The Toyota Grand Prix of Long Beach was a struggle for 2003 Rolex Series
champion Terry Borcheller.
Race Car Driver Terry Borcheller
From the onset, defending race and series champion Sebastien Bourdais dominated
throughout the weekend, leading nearly every practice and winning both sessions
of qualifying before his record win.
The race is on a 1.986-mile, 11-turn circuit that goes through city streets
between downtown Long Beach and the Pacific Ocean. Borcheller’s co-driver,
Harrison Brix was behind the wheel for the first part of 74 laps.
As Bourdais led the field into the first turn of the Champ Car World Series,
five cars behind him crashed while trying to get through a tight corner. Mario
Dominguez hit teammate Paul Tracy from behind. Tracy was turned around and then
got slammed again as Oriol Servia, Bourdais’ teammate Bruno Junqueira and A.J.
Allmendinger were collected in the aftermath.
“I was standing in the pit watching,” said Borcheller. “Harrison, my co-driver
was behind the crash, it was a scary moment.” The only injury in the five car
crash was a bruised knee, said Borcheller. Four of the contenders were knocked
out of the city’s seaside street course. Dominguez’s was able to continue,
however, and finished 4th.
Harrison Brix returned to the pits. “It was my turn after the pit stop. I
started 7th or 8th and moved up to 5th or 6th place,” said Borcheller. “I
immediately starting dealing with handling issues and knew I was going to get
passed. I was trying to maintain my position.”
Borcheller was driving his Doran Ford No. 77 in the event. “I ended up grabbing
the tire wall with the wing and pulled the wing off,” he said. “In the end we
finished 22nd out of 26.”
We were part of Saturday evening’s 90-minute Daytona Prototype-only race on the
streets of Long Beach, California for the first time in the Champ Car Series,
said Borcheller. The winner, Sebastien Bourdais went on to a record-setting
performance averaging 87.268 mph in the win.
“That’s behind us,” said Borcheller. “Next is VIRginia International Raceway
where we hope to do a lot better.”
Borcheller has 6 professional Series Drivers Championships and 57 Professional
Race wins in 7 series at 20 tracks. He uses the stock K&N Engineering air filter
on his vehicles when he races. “I’ve never had a problem with the K&N filter,
K&N products have always been part of my racing life,” said Borcheller. “The air
filters always give me more power and better fuel economy.”
