Northeastern Midget Association Racer Wins Open Wheel Race in New Hampshire

Northeastern Midget Association (NEMA) racer Randy Cabral made it two for two at Twin State Speedway at Claremont, New Hampshire. He drove his K&N Filters, Bertrand Motorsports No. 47 machine to the win in the rain-shortened 19 lap NEMA Open Wheel race.

It was the fifth win of the season for the defending champion and current points leader.

Cabral recently moved into 7th position on NEMA’s all time win list. The 30-year-old racer has been racing for about 10 years.
Cabral started in 5th position in New Hampshire but quickly took the lead after a three-lap side-by-side battle with Adam Cantor. The race ended on a red-flag situation after racers Mike Horn, Greg Stoehr and Lee Bundy were involved in an accident. There was also a rainstorm before the cleanup was complete and the drivers had to wait it out.
On the restart, Cantor took the lead but lost a restart challenge to Cabral on lap five. Cabral took the lead back as fast as possible because he knew more rain was coming. “We were able to get the car working just about perfect for him,” said Tim Bertrand of Bertrand Motorsports. “He was able to move past Adam Cantor who was very tough.”
Bertrand Motorsports uses K&N sprint car air box, part number 100-8570, K&N air filter wrap, part number 100-8570PK and the K&N oil filter part number HP-3002. “K&N products give us excellent filtration and protect our engines,” said Bertrand. “K&N is the best.”
“My car started to get a little tight and that was good for me,” said Cabral. “I was getting faster and faster and Adam appeared to be getting loose.”
Cabral banked another win. His next race will be at Seekonk Speedway in Seekonk, Massachusetts.
