K&N Releases New Heavy Duty Air Filter for Commercial Grade Trucks and Busses

K&N is constantly working to improve the way vehicle engines get clean air and perform better.  K&N heavy duty air filters for commercial grade diesel vehicles has been the latest result of this focus.  These air filters fit semi-trucks, industrial equipment and other large diesel applications.

This line of K&N air filters takes the design and performance of a traditional K&N air filter and transforms it into a large durable filter capable of withstanding the abuse of commercial vehicles.  These air filters use a special non-oiled synthetic filter media.

The K&N 38-2022S is one of these heavy duty filters, designed with layered synthetic media and a tough metal protective shell. The filter media is a lofted non-woven synthetic media, held together with K&N's famous epoxy coated aluminum mesh. The metal shell encasing the filter media is made with black powder coated steel.

This 12 pound filter is almost 2 feet long.  It is a washable, reusable air filter that comes with a 3 year/300,000 mile limited warranty. Instead of buying expensive, throw away air filters, you can save money by buying this re-usable heavy duty K&N filter. The 38-2022S is a standard flow filter, so the air comes in from the outside of the filter to the center before entering the engine. The 38-2022S can be cleaned from the inside out with a pressure washer, power sprayer, or standard truck cleaning equipment along with K&N's Heavy Duty Air Filter Cleaner. Once the filter is cleaned and dried it can be reinstalled and used again.

The K&N 38-2022S is designed to increase air flow over the stock air filter and boost performance. They are engineered to provide superior engine protection. The K&N 38-2022S has a radial seal on the bottom of the filter. As the filter sits inside of its housing this rubber circle seals the filter to prevent bypassing of filtration by pressing against the inner lip of the filter's flange.

K&N 38-2022S will replace the heavy duty air filters listed below:

NASCAR Racer Blake Koch Returns To Homestead - Miami Speedway Near Palm Beach, Florida

Professional racecar drivers quickly grow accustomed to traveling to various venues throughout the United States. Every track has its own personal characteristics, and one would suspect that in turn, each driver has their favorite venues where they seem to be more successful. One might also suspect that a driver would grow excited about returning to their home track if for no other reason than having the opportunity to race where they grew as a driver, and having the stands filled with friends and family.

NASCAR driver Blake Koch recently had the opportunity to return to his old stomping grounds at the Homestead- Miami Speedway, located just 1 1/2 hours from West Palm Beach where Blake grew up.

Not only was it exciting to return to race in front of familiar faces, but Koch was gearing up to compete in one of the biggest races of his career. Trailing fellow driver Ryan Truex by only three points, Koch was in the running for the NASCAR Nationwide Series Rookie of the Year. With the award on the line, there couldn't be a venue for the season finale any better than home.

The points race was close and a great run would likely earn Koch the title but Timmy Hill was only three points behind the leader as well. With a number of variables going into the voting process, prior to the race there was no clear-cut answer as to who would end their season with the prestigious award under their belts.

Throughout the season, Koch's crew chief, John Monsam, has been diligent in keeping the drivers Daystar.com #81 car running to perfection. In fact, the goal was to ensure the car ran faster each and every week. That in mind, Koch and his crew were confident upon rolling into the Homestead- Miami Speedway.

At the waving of the green flag, Blake Koch and the MacDonald Motorsports team were geared up and ready to go. Although the driver fought hard and furious, his 23rd place finish was not enough to earn the Rookie of the Year title.

When asked about the key to success at this particular event, Koch said, "Restarts were a big deal. It was pretty hard to pass, so if you could grab a couple of spots on a restart that was big." Referring to racing at Homestead, he continued, "Well, Rookie of the Race would have been really big for us. Then I would have won Rookie of the Year. It would have been great to do it at my hometown, as I had over thirty friends and family at the race."

When asked if racing at his hometown track proved an advantage or disadvantage, he continued, "Neither. Once I'm in the car, I just drive as hard as I can, no matter what track I am at." When asked if the Rookie of the Year title would have had an effect on his confidence level, Koch explained, "I don't think it would have affected my confidence. It just would have been some added exposure."

Of course Koch would have savored the opportunity to win the NASCAR Nationwide Series Award, and in turn, one shouldn't expect him to be satisfied with the outcome. When asked his feelings about his success during the 2011 season, he stated, "I wouldn't say satisfied- more like content. I heard in a church service to be content in the now and aggressive toward the future. I can't go back and change anything, but I should just keep trying harder."

Although Koch didn't earn the title he was shooting for at Homestead, he obviously experienced a great deal of success to be in the running. When asked what he credited his success to, Koch was quick to answer, "Jesus Christ, Daystar, my team, and family."

To experience success on a regular basis, a driver and his team must strive to ensure their engine can handle the rigors of the sport. That said, Koch depends on K&N products. He said, "They're the best of the best. I use K&N air filters on my truck and oil filters in my late model back home." The driver also suggested that K&N products played a role in his success throughout the 2011 season.

As 2011 winds down, Blake Koch will begin preparing for the upcoming 2012 season. While waiting for and anticipating the first race of 2012, the driver will dedicate time to working out. Not only will he focus on remaining physically fit, but he will also get mentally prepared as well.

In closing Blake Koch said, "I really enjoy the adrenaline rush of qualifying, and the overall competition of the sport." Laughingly, he continued, "I think I am addicted to racing. I start having withdrawals when I don't do it for a while. I just want to thank my sponsors for their support, and the fans for watching. If there weren't any fans, there would be no sponsors. This sport can't leave out even one piece of the puzzle."

Todd Piper Wins K&N/Stinnett Automotive Super Comp Championship

In addition to grabbing the 2011 Super Pro Track Championship at Heartland Park Topeka, second generation racer Todd Piper also added the 2011 K&N/Stinnett Automotive Super Comp Championship to his ever growing list of accolades. All this for only the young driver's fourth season competing in the class and his first in the ride he used to make it happen.

"This was the first year for the Super Class program at Heartland Park during the bracket races, which rotated Super Street one week, then Super Gas and next Super Comp," explained multi-time NHRA National Champion, Gary Stinnett of the new track program. "I believe that Super Comp ended up having six events. I sponsored the class and K&N sponsored the end of year point fund."

"Todd Piper actually had a really great season," said Stinnett. "To win the Super Pro and the Super Comp championship along with Driver of the Year for Heartland Park, that's a lot to be proud of. Even on the final race day of the year, he won the Super Pro event. He really had a great day with everything that came together for him."

Piper started his driving career when he was eleven in the JR program and worked his way up to the full size car he is driving now, a 2003 dragster with a 572ci BBC for power and is more than pleased with his 2011 race season. "I can't complain about the season at all," said the new Super Pro and Super Comp Track Champ. "Before the final weekend at Topeka, I had already won three Super Pro races and it was great to win the last one of the year, too. The Super Comp program at the track was really fun."

"I started off the Super Comp deal with a win and pretty much got lucky from there on," he joked. "I won the Super Comp track championship by only two points. It was a really tight one and it came down to the last race. I lost first round and the girl that was behind me in points won. All she had to do was win the next round, but she went out."

"I wasn't paying a whole lot of attention to the Super Comp points. At the moment I was so focused on the Super Pro standings, since I was leading," he admitted of that last race day in October.

The newly crowned 2011 K&N/Stinnett Automotive Super Comp Champ cannot wait to put his prize to the test. "It is so very cool," he said of the K&N 100-8505 carbon fiber scoop that Stinnett presented to him after winning. "It's so light and the tray and K&N filter are all included. It's pretty darn slick."

"We are excited that the Super Class program will return to Heartland Park as a part of their bracket races again next season," Stinnett added. "I'm happy to see that Todd was the first Super Comp Champ. He's been doing so very well over the last couple of seasons and really coming on strong."

"I really appreciate what K&N and Gary, with Stinnett Automotive, did for the local racers this season," said Piper. "It really means a lot to us to have the support for our local programs and more to race for."
